Advantages: beautiful;, fascinating, reasonable, the coffins Disadvantages: chrage for toilet and church, museum and website only in German
...Last year I had a very unique opportunity to work in another country. I normally work at St Paul's Cathedral and got the chance to work in the Berlinerr Dom (Berlin Cathedral) for a week as an English tour guide. I was living right on top of my work place, as I was staying in a guest apartment in the cathedral's bell tower. I fell in love with Berlin and its cathedral so thought I would give you a virtual tour of this amazing building. Take a pew and sit back and enjoy.
The Berlinerr Dom is very easy to get to as it is located in the central district of Mitte just by the Museum Island (where all the major museums are in Berlin). It is also just off one of Berlin's min streets Unter Den Linden, which runs from the Brandenburg Gate to the Berliner Dom and beyond. It is easy to get to the Berlinerr Dom. A number of buses go...

Review of Berliner Dom
Advantages: Cut above the Rest Disadvantages: not worth the extra cost
...Background:
-----------------
Dom Perignon was the 17th century Benedictine monk who has gone down in history as the person who invented Champagne. His name was originally registered by Eugene Mercier. He sold the brand name to Moet & Chandon, which uses it as its prestige champagne
Tasting!
----------
I have tried a good few (read: too many!) Champagnes in the last few years and recently had a bottle of the good stuff, a 1998 Dommy.
My mother in law decided to get a few for her 50th b'day so like all good wine connoisseurs we decided to pit our taste buds aginst it.
First the bottle. A touch of class resides in the label with little (read none) information given to the grapes used or other. However the label does stand out compared to others with its shield like style.
(Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are used in roughly...
Advantages: Best of the best Disadvantages: Expensive for the average waitress
...Having had occasion to taste Champagne on a regular basis working in Michelin starred restaurants (for training purposes of course) I had so far, throughout my working life, been denied the taste of the famed Dom Pérignon. I had come to know and love the Laurent Perrier?s, the Taittinger?s and once had occasion to taste a wonderful Louis Roederer in its vintage year of 1989. However, I am no connoisseur of Champagne and would go so far to saying that Champagne is a fashion statement, an utter waste of money, over-rated and sometimes disappointing to experience after the build-up of realising that you are actually drinking the magical elixir.
On the flip side Champagne is luxurious, decadent and indulgent. Illusions of famous movie stars in 1930?s Hollywood, casually sipping their Champagne at some exclusive post-picture party come...
...I will refer throughout to the subject of this review as Cologne Cathedral, that being the familiar English term for it. If you wish to carry out further research you will also need to know the German title: "Kolner Dom".
Two of my great interests in life are architecture and history; seldom do they merge better and in more spectacular style than in the great churches and cathedrals. Over the years I have enjoyed visiting virtually all of the cathedrals in England - many in Poland during the last seven years too. Since my late teens there had been one cathedral above all others that I had wanted to visit - Cologne.
However well one may, or may not, know Cologne, Germany, or even in a much wider sense church architecture, the iconic silhouette of Cologne Cathedral, with its truly colossal twin towers, will probably be familiar to...
Advantages: Energizes, Refreshes, Sweet, Traditional Values Disadvantages: Expensive, ugly packaging
...Who doesnt know of this brand?raise hands! Ok i'll tell ya'll watsit.(even those who already know, no obligations)
This brand has two varieties. D.O.M comes as 'Benedictine or B&B'. The B&B is for cocktails and the usual one which i use to drink is the Benedictine. Anyway. even the benedictine can be used to make cocktails, not only B&B.
Although this liquer is made in France, since many many hundreds of years back, this drink is mainly used to cook chinese food! This is why Benedictine sells well in Asian countries like in Hong Kong and Malaysia! Check out http://benedictine.fr/anglais/recettesframe.html
This is because it is made from mainly 27 kinds of different herbs!
Just to name some of that which i know of, vanilla, saffron, cinammon, and so and so.
A bottle of it would cost me around 15-18 GBP (750)ml. the 500ml...
Advantages: funny show which leaves you in stiches Disadvantages: none
...Trigger Happy TV stars Dom Joly, and the new series is being shown on the new channel E4, it’s so funny, yesterday one scene had me in stitches. He uses different actors to make fun out of the public, in one scene he told one guy that he had won a dash around a supermarket, and this poor guy went all excited running around, and on his return their was nothing wrong. This is was funny, it me laugh. The soundtrack to this show is top notch, Dom Joly is original and funny, what a combination.
When he interviews famous people and decides to do a runner, this week he did it to Lord Bath, you need to watch this to check it for yourself, it comes on at 10pm on E4 and it is the new series....
Advantages: It smells of flowers Disadvantages: - which is fine until he hits school!
..., but that fades to release the tea tree smell. When I had finished, I rubbed the little that was left into my hands, put his jamas on him and put him to bed.
Half an hour later, my hands felt soft, and this morning, Dom wasn't as red as usual. I'll update in a couple of weeks to let you know how his eczema is going on.
Somehow, I don't think the tub will last as long as they say - I have a little itchy spot on the back of my hand ........
Update 10/09/02
I'm very impressed. Dom's skin in less scaly and less red than it has been in a long time. It is by no means perfect, but we have only been using the stuff for 10 days or so, and even then not every night. The prescribed creams are going back to the chemists for disposal....

Review of Lush Dream Cream
Advantages: Very funny, varied prank sketches, quite original. Disadvantages: Not very long, humour may not be to all tastes.
...I originally saw the show World Shut Your Mouth when it had its run on the BBC. My friend and I are big Dom Joly fans due to his excellent Trigger Happy TV, so as soon as we saw this program it was a must watch.
As soon as i saw the dvd in Virgin i had to have it as a big fan naturally.
The show itself is essentially in the same style as Trigger Happy TV but it has been given a big re-vamp and whilst all the sketches are in the same sort of style as Trigger Happy TV, the material of the sketches is new and extremely funny.
The show also travels the world, hence the title of the show and at the start of each episode, Dom Joly will go to a famous landmark and exclaim to another person admiring it that, "that is sh*t!". Very, very funny reactions.
My personal favourite which wont be funny to anyone reading this unless you...
...Dom Perignon Nectar of champagnes... far from accessible
Everyone knows Dom Perignon... or at least the name
How many have already tried?
I had the occasion, once, two years ago, I still remember it. It is said that one cannot have opinion on once. It is however what happened.
Everything started in a great restaurant in London, where my manager ?invited me to a diner with friends. The environment was very pleasant, the atmosphere really cool, my best friend and my fiancé were there too. And then, just like that, my boss (a friend now), decided to try some Dom P. All the ceremonial follows. The sommelier, all in black, with his white-shinning-towel on the arm, presented us the bottle:
Dom Perignon 1995 if you please (1995 is supposed to be an excellent vintage!)
We were really impatient to taste this amazing product...
Advantages: Alternative and side-splittingly funny Disadvantages: Limited scope perhaps
...Trigger Happy TV is without a doubt one of the best alternative comedy programmes that has been invented in the recent past. Dom Jolly, the presenter, has a very very good way of leading poor general members of the public down the garden path, and filming them while he generally makes a fool out of them. He draws no bounds - getting almost slapstick-style laughs from foreigners, especially Americans, visiting various tourist attractions in London. His gags are simple, but effective, and he has many fans, especially for his mobile-telephone user character....
