Bourjois Suivez Mon Regard

...The latest product to come from the French cosmetics brand, Bourjois is Suivez Mon Regard, a loose eyeshadow in a little pot, complete with a mini-brush and screw-on lid. I was wandering around Superdrug, and spotted these on sale. Of course I had to have them! The cute little pots had me interested instantly. They retail at £6.50, but they were £1 off. There were a huge variety of colours, from green to purple, and I decided on 05 Regard Gris Pepites, a sparkly grey. The pot weighs 2.6g, and offers no clue about how much eyeshadow you actually get for your money. It is tested under ophtamological control, and has been tested on contact lens wearers, so should be fine for people with sensitive eyes. Sweets For My Sweet, Mon Amour For My Enemy

Advantages: Pretty packaging
Disadvantages: Expensive, hideous and disgusting

...= 2 calories, you can have 5 of these and still only consume half of that. I was cautious. I’m not a fan of a lot of sweets, so I only shook two of these out to try, and I’m mighty glad I did because YUCK. They claim to have a liquorice flavour, but I’m not convinced. The only way I can think of to describe these is this: imagine being a non-smoker stuck for 8 hours in a closed smoking environment where people are puffing away heavily. Imagine the feeling you get as you try so hard not to, but you can’t help passive smoking more than you could ever want to. This is what these do to you. C'mon, Its Fantastic

Advantages: consistently great songwriting
Disadvantages: um...I don't understand the album cover

.... It is powerful, upbeat and a joy to listen to. I struggle to believe that Wagner wrote this in a day, but if he did, I'm thoroughly impressed. No You C'mon maybe isn't as good as Aw C'mon, but that really shouldn't put you off. Matching the album that precedes it was always going to be difficult, and it still has a lot to offer. One of the first things that strikes you is the track Nothing Adventurous Please, perhaps a dig at the critics who have (falsely) labelled Lambchop as being tame and unadventurous. It starts off with a relatively aggressive guitar part and continues through to Wagner actually raising his voice to meet the crescendo of instruments. My only problem with this pair of albums is the song Under a Dream of a Lie; don't get me wrong, its brilliant, but in my mind it sounds a little too similar to Scamper, which is...

...is populated by unusual characters, and the incidents pile on top of one another at a furious pace. In fact, that is my only slight complaint. Because things happen at such a rapid rate of knots, I found myself getting a bit confused as to what was happening, and how it connected with what had already happened. But don't let that put you off. Overall, this is a hugely enjoyable, amusing read, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series....

The Glory Of My Father? I don't want to know!

Advantages: It's picturesque and beautiful, with brilliant music
Disadvantages: It's just quite slow and not much happens

...throughout the film, but I didn't mind at all because it was a fantastic tune. You may have noticed there was a lot of the word "nice" in that review. The film is the movie equivalent of hot chocolate: it's warm and sweet and leaves you with a warm glow inside. You definitely will come out of it thinking, "aww". It's just that nothing much happens. I don't mind slow-burning films which have a powerful message, or that have some kind of subtle effect on your mind, but this film is just plain slow, and it felt inconsequential. A story can be as nice and funny and sweet as it wants, but if it doesn't have any major dramatic story, it unfortunately can't really be a great film - and I don't think this is. La Gloire De Mon Pere (The Glory Of My Father) is available to buy on DVD for £6...
