...Well the Simpsons family are back again in this action-packed film! All your favourite characters are here plus a few new ones. It was released on the 10th December 2007 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment who have been created films since 1976. The film itself is only an hour and a half long which I found to be a little disappointing as it the equivalent of only three episodes. I was hoping for something a little longer from a movie. It was however worth buying because this film is very different to the simpsons television shows and it hasn't unlike most of them been repeated about 15 times. This movie was directed by David Silverman and stars the voices of many great actors such as Dan Castellaneta and Nancy Cartwright. The Simpsons movie

Advantages: great family fun and hilarious scenes
Disadvantages: none

...wife and devoted mother, little realising that her stupid husband is again on the verge of ruining everything.. yet again. Lisa plays her normal, sensible self, her schoolgirl crush on the stable boy type boy giving the movie the love interest. And as for the lovable rogue Bart, with his quick one liners and total disrespect for authority, he is simply?Bart Simpson, the Dennis the Menace of the 21st century, with attitude. As usual with the Simpsons, there are many cameo roles and a lot of references to some other great movie, but this just adds to the hilarity of the movie from the beginning. The Simpsons ... Embiggened!

Advantages: Better than newer episodes, some great jokes
Disadvantages: Weaker than older episodes

.... Too many of the more recent episodes have seemed to incorporate lazy jokes and simple sight gags that just don't seem to show the same level of creativity as older seasons. In this respect, the film delivers. The writing is sharper, the sight gags more worthwhile and the celebrity appearances which later seasons have been over-reliant on are relatively few here. A couple even reach the quality of the best the Simpsons had to offer; the scene involving a "Wanted" poster at a Gas Station is inspired. Though one tends to take it for granted, the animation is excellent, and there are some great visuals involved in some of the set-piece scenes. If these are the result of the length of time it took to produce the movie, and the flexibility and greater scope this gave the creators, than in this respect at least, it was time well spent. If...

...There can't be too many people that need introducing to TV's most dysfunctional TV family but just in case there is I will begin by saying that they are an animated family that live in Springfield, somewhere in the United States. Mother to their three children, is bright blue haired Marge, father is the slob like Homer whilst the three children are Bart, Lisa and baby Maggie. The Simpson's cartoons have been screened regularly in the UK on both Sky One and Channel 4. Over 400 individual episodes of these 25 minute long cartoons have been made and this number is still rising. A full length movie version is something that had been in the pipeline for quite a few years. Advantages: Very funny, well-handled serious episodes
Disadvantages: None

A great episode with some snappy dialogue with a very memorable song done in typical Simpsons style. "New Kid On The Block" has Bart falling for his new neighbor, Laura Powers. But he can't seem to get her to take a romantic interest in her, and has his heart broken when he finds out she is interested in a local bully, Jimbo Jones. A good episode, if only for when Moe snaps and tries to kill the person who has been prank calling him. But it's also a look at Bart's first crush, and how sometimes things in that area don't seem to work out quite how you wanted them to. ...The Simpsons: Film Festival is a 'best of' collection of four episodes. One of my favourite things about The Simpsons is their memorable movie references, and these four episodes are four of the greatest examples of this. The episodes are "Beyond Blunderdome", "A Star is Burns", "22 Short Films About Springfield" and "The Itchy and Scratchy Movie". In "Beyond Blunderdome" Homer wins tickets to see Mel Gibson's new movie, a remake of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", and asked to review it, which he promptly berates for being boring. This bothers Mel so much he flies back to Springfield and asks for Homers help in order to re-edit the film. What results is a bloody tour de force that has Mel decapitating the President of the United States. The remake is so crazy that it could be true, and that's how they get the parody spot on, because...

...The Simpsons - Classics - Heaven and Hell is yet another of the 'classics' series of Simpsons DVD's. There are four episodes included here, each having something to do with heaven and the other place. They are "Bart Sells His Soul", "In Marge We Trust", "Treehouse Of Horror IV" and "Homer The Heretic". In "Bart Sells His Soul", Bart sells his soul to Milhouse for 5 dollars after proclaiming they don't exist. He soon regrets the sale though, as his dog is very edgy towards him, automatic doors don't open for him anymore and Marge feel like he is missing something. In the end he gets it back from an unlikely source. A Bart-centric episode, it touches on what a soul is and how someone can possess such a thing. The Simpsons writers are excellent at trying to explain these things in a brilliantly comic way. "In Marge We Trust" has Marge...

The Simpsons Movie - Disappointing

Advantages: Well made - entertaining.
Disadvantages: Too long.

...-defined storyline. While I can happily watch four episodes back-to-back, the movie was beyond my endurance. The episodes of The Simpsons are a pleasurable quick fix - no floundering on a single subject, no dragging scenes, no totally inane moments meant to fill in gaps - the episodes are fun little packets of pleasure that can never be outdone by a lengthy 'movie' format. Which would you prefer to receive - a box of chocolates containing 20 identical chocolates or a box of chocolates that contains an assortment? Personally, I'm the adventurous type who loves boxes containing an assortment, and 'The Simpsons Movie' just isn't as satisfying as watching an assortment of episodes. Although I love the quirky Simpsons, so long as I don't have to live next door to them, I cannot foully recommend them to anyone in this 'movie' format. If you want to...

Advantages: Great writing, very funny, lots of movie references

..., angry at Homer for wrecking her place, puts a curse on his family and the people he cares about, "House of Whacks", where the Simpsons upgrade their house with a computer that takes care of everything, but it soon starts to take an unhealthy interest in Marge, and "Wiz Kids", a spoof on Harry Potter, where Bart and Lisa are attending wizard school, and we are introduced to Lord Montymort and Slithers, who plan to capture Lisa so Montymort can take her essence and make himself more powerful. I love these specials, being a fan of Horror and Sci-Fi films, I love when they spoof famous films like "The Shining" and. They always seem to give a little extra to these specials, and they look like they're having a lot of fun making them as well. ...The Simpsons: Backstage Pass is a collection of four episodes featuring some of the best bands of the past and the present. The four episodes are "Homerpalooza", "A Tale of Two Springfields", "The Otto Show" and "Homer's Barbershop Quartet". "Homerpalooza" is one of my personal favourites and concerns Homer, who seems to be having a mid-life crisis, so he takes Bart and Lisa to the Hullabalooza festival where, through some bizarre coincidences that could only happen in The Simpsons, he gets to fulfill his rock star dreams by touring with the festival. The bands here are amazing, from classic rockers (Peter Frampton) to newer, indie rock (Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins) and really shows the difference in musical tastes between then and when the show started, and also since Homer was a teenager as well.
