...Donkey Kong is an arcade game where, as Mario, you negotiate platforms whilst dodging obstacles to save the damsel-in-distress Pauline. I guess it's not Super Mario, since, should he fall from a great height then he loses a life (actually, he's known as Jumpman here). The NES version is not arcade perfect - it was missing one of the four stages (the cement factory level), but that's perhaps forgiveable given the console's limitations then. This NES version can actually be found in Animal Crossing for the GameCube, yet the N64 game Donkey Kong 64 features what must be a pretty accurate port of the arcade game. Then there's the Donkey Kong title for the old Game Boy, which, whilst not intended to come close to the real thing, offered a great deal beyond four stages. The troubled donkeys happy home!

Advantages: free, good parking, disabled access, refreshments, free video screening re donkey sanc,lovely location, lovely donkeys!
Disadvantages: none that pop to mind,maybe limited transport if no car

...I have to say that this place is one of the best. I have visited it so many times over the years can't actually recall how many times I've been and I don't even live near the area!!!! So this is the home for abused and unwanted donkeys. it has been very interesting over the years to see how this has developed and it just gets better and better. Donkeys tend to have that sad put up on look anyway but when you watch the free video about the donks, read the information on the fences about them and talk to staff you can't help feeling that they have that look for a good reason. When you hear what some people have done to the donkeys it makes you feel so glad that the DS exists. Also living amongst the abused donkeys are ones who have lead a good life but people just can't look after them anymore. This is therefore a lovely place...

Advantages: Lots of things to grab, chew and squeeze
Disadvantages: Pointless for a newborn

...When my little girl was born she received loads of teddy bears and the Blossom Farm Activity Dillon Donkey was one of them. To begin with she showed no interest in this teddy whatsoever (mind you what baby would play with something that is almost as big as them). So we put it to one side and forgot all about it. Then recently I dug it out again and gave it to her to see if she would play with it (she is now nearly 5 months) and to my surprise she absolutely loves it. I would imagine it has something to do with all the various things that she can grab and chew. So what makes this teddy different to the rest? This teddy is approximately 31cm tall so it's a nice size; it has two big floppy ears which have crinkly paper inside them so they make a noise when grabbed. Donkey Kong Jungle Climber

Advantages: Easy controls, variety of different moves
Disadvantages: All levels are very similar

...Donkey Kong is a classic Nintendo character and after seeing this in the shop on the DS I decided it would be worth giving it a go. I always loved the retro versions of this game so was sure I'd love this. After starting this game I realised the main controls you use are the R and L buttons to grab hold of pegs to climb to the end of the level. I got quite addicted but shortly after broke my L button on my DS and could no longer play it. Having now received my DS back from being fixed I have begun playing again. All the levels you have to climb and you can grab with just one hand and rotate around the peg until you are correctly positioned to jump off or grab pegs with both hands to remain stationary. Donkey Kong - I'd been hearing about it on the GBA grapevine for a while, and I wasn't over-excited about it, it just sounded like another retro arcade game brought to a newer games system.
