Doors Closing

Advantages: Compelling enough crime story
Disadvantages: Not a patch on the Rebus stories

...Doors Open - Ian Rankin Before I talk about the book ?Doors Open? written by Ian Rankin let me tell you a little story of my own. Many years ago I was the chief cashier in a branch of a high street bank. It was a small branch with a low foot flow of customers. However, it was in the very wealthy Belgravia area of London so what customers we did have were of the well heeled variety, premiership footballers and senior politicians were regulars. Even if they weren?t famous many of our customers were titled and came from famous families. These customers requested a lot of cash over the counter so we would hold rather more in our safe than similar sized branches elsewhere. Most weeks this would be around two to three hundred thousand pounds, at busy times it could reach perhaps three quarters of a million pounds. The money was held...

Sliding Doors

Advantages: Easy To Watch
Disadvantages: Nothing Fantastic

...Sliding Doors is a film which brings to the screens the question ?what if?? it was released in 1998 and is still managing to bring in plenty of viewers due to its unique story and layout which has been copied, but not as successfully, since. What?s it all about? The movie is a romance story about Helen, the film follows her in her struggles through her life, work and especially her love life. The starting and main point of the film is at the beginning, she is catching a train which turns out to be a major pinpoint of her life. The film is then split into two stories, one in which follows on from her catching the train, and one of which follows on from her missing the train. This small event in Helen?s life changes everything and the consequences of either one is flashed back to throughout the film, and she experiences...

Evanescence-The Open Door

Advantages: Brillant stuff
Disadvantages: one or two lacking tracks

...Evanescence:The Open Door Evanescence a well know heavy metal'gothic' band (Although I wouldn't put the gothic in there') First released their debut album 'Fallen' in 2003 and followed that up with their live DVD 'Anywhere But Home' in 2004. In 2006 with Wind-UP Records they released this album 'The Open Door.' In my oppinion it is a great album, although I do prefer their previous album 'Fallen'. Their tracks 'Lithium' and 'Call Me When You're Sober' both have Music video's which are to a great standard. The Band Members Current Members Amy Lee ? lead vocals, piano, keyboards Terry Balsamo ? lead guitars Tim McCord ? bass Former Members David Hodges ? keyboards, piano, drums, backing vocals Ben Moody ? lead guitars Will Boyd ? bass John LeCompt ? rhythm...

sliding doors

Advantages: great movie, great actors, great storyline
Disadvantages: Some people may find the movie hard to follow.

...Sliding doors is one of my all time favorite films! made by director Peter Howitt he has really made a different kind of film that makes you use your brain. It follows the life of helen (actress Gwyneth Paltrow) Who works in PR and lives with her writer boyfriend, unbeknown to helen her boyfriend gerry (actor John Lynch) Is cheating on her with an ex girlfriend, Helen goes to work as normal but gets sacked due to sexist male employees! Then the story really starts, Helen gets into the lift and makes her way to the tube station, then the screen splits, One helen catches the train, whilst the other helen misses the train ( They are both still the same person the story follows would would and wouldnt have happened if she caught or missed the train) The helen that misses the train has to get a taxi and gets mugged therefore she misses...

How Tinker Bell Began!

Advantages: A nice, magical film
Disadvantages: Definately aimed at a younger audience!

...When I was babysitting last night, I got roped into watching ?Tinker Bell?, a film from Walt Disney where Tinker Bell is the main character. We get to learn all about Tinker Bell how she became a ?Tinker? (one of the types of fairy). The animation in this is very ?new? Disney. It is all 3D and computer animated and looks very much like the animation did in ?The Incredibles?, not like the old Disney films. I have to say I don?t think I like the animation in the new look films as much as the animation in the old films. The film starts off with the narrator explaining the jobs of fairies, which is to craft out nature, adding all the little details to things like snow flakes, giving light and colour to flowers, and helping all creatures. The narrator when goes on to say that when a baby first laughs a fairies life takes flight, we then see...

Sliding Doors

Advantages: Thoughtful Rom Com, Engaging, Warm
Disadvantages: Some OTT performances

...Sliding Doors - Film Only review What different path would your life follow if you happened to say, miss a tube-train by only a second? What effect would that second have on your life? Would it be different? Or is your destiny inextricably mapped out? Sliding Doors, directed by Peter Howett (of 'Bread' fame) explores this question, following the life of recently fired PR Girl Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) as she misses a train in one scenario but catches it in another. The movie cleverly switches between the two storylines - in the first, after catching the train, Helen arrives home early to find her boyfriend Gerry (John Lynch) enthusiastically entertaining his brash American bit-on-the-side (the ever-sexy Jeanne Tripplehorn). In the other, missing the train, she arrives home much later to find Gerry guiltily washing...

The Open Door

Advantages: Great songs, great vocals, lovely album cover
Disadvantages: "Your Star"

...As a big fan of Evanescence's first major album "Fallen", back in 2003, I had high expectations for "The Open Door". When I found out in the summer that they had a new album coming out, I could barely wait until October, and scoured the internet searching for pre-release reviews of the long-awaited record. And when I finally got it, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed it on the first listen through, but on the second and then the third (and so on), I loved it! A lot of the songs are very good, and in my view, there's only one track that lets the album down, which is "Your Star". Having read the other reviews on here for this CD, I was quite surprised at the response from the reviewers and the comments received, and I seem to be alone in my view that this was a great album! Nevertheless, I shall continue with this review in an effort...

Were You 'Saved By The Bell'?!

Advantages: One of the best TV shows from my childhood and one I still enjoy watching now
Disadvantages: The characters are a bit predictable, as are the storylines and it's not on TV a lot anymore : (

...(Note: Ok, ok, so this is a long review (huh, no change there) but please keep in mind that this is about Saved By The Bell as a whole rather than just a season of the show...sorry in advance!) If you happen to be a child of the late 1980s and early 1990s, you may have come across an American adolescent sitcom called Saved By The Bell, a programme which I should have grown out of years ago but still find enjoyable to watch. As it?s way past Valentines Day, it feels like the right time to express such admiration for one of America?s truly corniest exports; set in the fictional Bayside High School, the series follows the lives of a group of friends as they do battle with everyday teenager trials including school, love and friendship and not to mention the bad 80s hairstyles and fashion! A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SHOW Originally...

Red Door

Advantages: Smells lovely
Disadvantages: None

...I Love this product its my 'signature' perfurme whenever I wear people always say I smell nice (which is nice!). The price has dropped over the years and you can pick up a bottle of Red Door eau de Toilette Spray 100ml from Superdrug for as little as £16.99 and if you are an ebay user cheaper still. Smell Quote 'Sensuous blend of deep, rich florals features a captivating scent that fills the senses. A very feminine scent.' - Totally agree with this statement it's a lovely fragrance. Packaging Comes in an elegant bottle as per photograph. Sizes= Can be bought in either 25ml, 50ml or 100ml bottle Summary Good value for money fragrance, goes well with the lotion (which is makes the skin feel very smooth). An ideal gift. I always seem to go back to the perfume time and time again, a change is always good, but this is...

Ding Dong, Bell Direct

Advantages: Great customer and general speed and services provision
Disadvantages: To stay loyal after declaring points is near impossible

...Bell Direct is an insurance company part of the Admiral Group offering insuring services Service Naturally if you are looking for car insurance you would shop around to look for the cheapest deal. In my opinion the greatest thing the Bell offered when calling around was a complete comprehensive detail of the facts in a highly commendable manner. The only downsite was they use 0870 or 0844 numbers which aren't exactly cheap. But generally I found the staff very useful. Price Bell, are cheap and offer good invitation prices with perks thrown in. Except, I found that whatever promotion to get you to sign up is getting a cheap quote, that cheap policy does not last. And they are cheap to under 25's, the odd penalty points and non- NCB's compared to competitors. When I first took out a policy, they were efficient...
