...Preface --------
My first PERSONAL COMPUTER was a 386er. I bought him in 1991. Was supplied when operating system MS-DOS 5.0 MS DOS is the first operating system out of the house Microsoft. DOS operating system stands for disk. Version 5.0, that I my particular mentioned, would pay still onto few floppy disks.
What is DOS?
-------------
Presumably each already overheard from DOS, however, not have aller worked still with it. Therefore, I will give a short introduction here for the better sense.
MS-DOS still had no graphical user interface such as Windows 95. everything what one wanted to do did one by means of commands. One could commands therefore short on a text screen which were then carried out.
The screen typically looked as:
A:\
The cursor then flashed there and one could set to.
Files and lists...
Advantages: Nicer looking worktop than DOS Disadvantages: You MUST have it if you want to run a lot of programmes, too user friendly
...I cannot see what all the fuss is about Windows '95. I personally prefer to use DOS as it is much easier once you have learnt all the commands. '95 is meant to be user friendly but it is too user friendly. I cannot stand the "Detect Hardware" function as it never finds the correct Hardware so I normally end up installing it manually although this does take much longer - when I say manually I mean by loading on the drivers and suchlike!
The sad thing is, much as I loved using Windows 3.1 and Dos 6.22, most games now require Windows 95 or higher as it is much easier to program games which run through this operating system. This results in the fact that you MUST buy it whether you want to use it or not. I do not really like Windows and I miss DOS, if it wasn't for Software requiring this operating system I would not use it....
Advantages: Tastier than water...wait a minute... Disadvantages: Blandness in a bottle
...One of the beers I sampled during my recent travels through España, was DOS EQIS ESPECIAL, another beer coming all the way from Mexico. (What is it with those Spaniards, don't they have any beer of their own?)
At first glance, you could be forgiven for mistaking this offering for that well-known 'beer' from down under - Castlemaine XXXX, but this one has only managed 2 X's.
If it's half as good as 4X, then we're in BIG trouble. Hey, if it's ten times better than that swill, we're still in trouble!
Dos Equis Special Lager is brewed by Cerveceria Moctezuma, one of Mexico's largest brewers. The company was founded in 1884 by a certain Herr Wilhelm Hasse and this has resulted in a German influence to their beers.
For those of you who are not fluent in Castillian, Dos Equis means two x's - the symbol signifies the coming...
Advantages: Lots of imformation, for you to use ! =) Disadvantages: Sadly, most people dont use DOS anymore.
...Welcome to my second computer tutorial. I hope this tutorial will teach you some DOS commands you never heard of or awaken your interest into activating that old OS (=operating system) of yours.
First of all, for the computer newbies out there !... what is DOS? DOS is an old operations system which stands for Disk Operating System. Bill Gates bought DOS ages back, sold it to valuable computer buisnesses and then became one of the richest people in the world. But back to DOS :
All Windows 9.X versions are running on DOS. Windows NT, Windows 2000 and XP dont, meaning that they are more stable than other window types. You can imagine DOS as a car motor from 1980 thats planted in your car. You wouldn't want it either would you?
Windows 9.x versions are just fancy GUI (=graphic user interfaces) running on an old OS. You might be...
Advantages: Crisp and refreshing Disadvantages: Not a lot of complexity or character. A little over-carbonated
...a fair proportion of my alcohol intake. This review concerns another beer from that part of the world.
DOS EQUIS AMBER is a Vienna-style amber ale which is brewed by CERVECERIA MOCTEZUMZA, one of Mexico's largest brewers. The company was founded in 1884 by a certain Herr Wilhelm Hasse and this has resulted in a German influence to their beers.
The 2 X's (dos equis) signify the beginning of the twentieth century, when this beer was originally brewed - the bottle I'm about to drink is somewhat fresher (I hope).
-------------------------INTERLUDE--------------------------
The teacher asks Jessica: "What part of the human body increases to 10 times it's normal size when excited?"
Jessica exclaims, "That's disgusting! I don't have to answer that question!"
So the teacher asks little Johnny, who responds: "That's easy...

Review of Dos Equis XX
...What could I do to beat the previous three opinions in the series for the alphabet, well not much really, the same format applies but this time it will be proper advice. The dos and don’ts from my perspective.
So the dos then:
Do have a healthy life style – Eat healthily and drink healthily, work in a healthy environment and so on, I’m sure I don’t need to remind of you off these. Although the amount of opinions I see flying around Ciao on things like beer, sweets and other unhealthy products shows me the opposite of this however, come on guys be healthy and get out of the house (well if you can get away from Ciao that is).
Do enjoy life – I’m not going to tell you how to enjoy life as that is just another opinion altogether and we get our kicks from different things anyway so it is purely...
Advantages: Fast, powerful, does the job. extendable Disadvantages: It isn't Windows
...I have used various versions of Clipper for about 15 years, I have been using 5.3 for about 9 years.
Clipper is the most famous of the XBASE family, others are FoxPro, DBase, Visual Objects and Alaska XBase++.
XBASE means the language follows a certain style and has built in database handling.
Clipper is easy to extend copmpared to the other DOS Xbase systems, you can add routines written in MSC8 or assembler.
The database engines (RDD) can be changed, the language defaults to DBNTX which was Nantuckets (the original Clipper authors) take on the DBF structure, the nearest to an inustry standard is DBFCDX which is FoxPro 2.6 compliant (this is Foxs contribution to XBASE), there are also Client Server RDDs such as Advantage Database Server.
The language is weakly typed and PCODE compiles, it can be very command driven...
Advantages: Attentive service Disadvantages: None that I could name
...I was away on business to Perth in Scotland yet again so I decided to visit my favorite restaurant in the town Dos Amigos, this is as the name suggests a Mexican restaurant.
--------------The Setting--------------
Dos Amigos is located on George Street , which is near the River Tay and the Royal George hotel which I have also reviewed. Also in the area is Perth's art gallery and just nearing completion, due to open in September 2005, is the new Perth Concert hall, so I would imagine you can expect the restaurant to be very busy on the weekends.
I have never booked as I have always been eating there on a week night and so the restaurant is not that busy if you wish to make sure you have a table for the fine food then the number you need to call is 01738-444660.
There is no bar in the main restaurant area but there is...
Advantages: Knowing how Ciao works and what is expected can make it easier to belong Disadvantages: It's impossible to explain everything in one review!
...I've been on Ciao for about fifteen months now; below are twenty Ciao 'dos and don'ts' which I've learned in my time here. There are some which I wish I'd known when I was new, and some that I wish recent newcomers were aware of! Please take as much or as little of the advice as you wish, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments thread.

These should be the first port of call for any newcomer, or indeed anybody unsure of any aspects of Ciao. You can find them by clicking the 'Help' or 'Member Centre' links at the top right of most pages.
Here you will find explanations of how and where to write reviews, how to rate, how to find products, and so on. You'll also find out how to request new products, how to report problems or abuse, and a multitude of other...
