Nothing to get Cross about with this fab read from Patterson

...I love James Patterson books and really got into them a couple of years ago. I particular love the books relating to the characters - Alex Cross and Lindsey Boxer (Womens Murder Club). As with all Patterson books with chapters are very short and to the point which is great (I hate chapters that go on and on). There is always lots happening with these books and you flit from one character/situation with ease. Ok Double Cross follow up to the equally brilliant Cross. The main character is the lovely Detective Alex Cross (played by Morgan Freeman in the film adapation of the novel Kiss the Girls). You warm to Cross in the earlier novels when you learn that the love of his life, wife Maria was murdered and he was left alone to raise their children. Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

Trauma, Treachery and Teen Love

Advantages: well written; fast-paced; convincing characters; interesting issues
Disadvantages: slightly weak ending

The first part of the novel is primarily concerned with Callie and Tobey's awkward transition from friends to something more and the dialogue they use is both amusing and realistic, peppered with teenage slang. While this is touching, the undercurrents of life surrounding them gradually exert greater pressure. Like the previous three books in this series, Blackman is concerned by the way in which racial prejudice tears apart people, lives and communities as the rage it engenders grows out of control. Double Delicious

Advantages: Delicious, amazing base, amazing price, cannot believe it's frozen!

  Animal Crossing goes urban

Advantages: You get to go to the city, better graphics
Disadvantages: Expensive, not hugely different from the DS version

...After playing Animal Crossing on the DS for a couple of years and finding that the game hadn't lost any of its addictiveness, we decided to get the Wii version. We were unsure what the differences would be between the DS and Wii versions as the only noticeable difference in the TV ads and on the packaging was the subtitle 'Let's go to the city'. I also spied a bus on the adverts that definitely wasn't in my old DS version. The back of the box alludes vaguely to what the differences are, but it didn't really explain it very clearly. However, the lack of explanation and the super cheesy adverts on TV with girls playing over the internet didn't put us off and, as we had some GAME vouchers, we decided to buy it anyway.
