Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. He is truly a Sicko

Advantages: great commentary on society. unflinching humour

...Doug Stanhope is an edgy comic from Massacheusetts who has a number of DVDs on the market. One of which I have already reviewed previously. He is very controversial and is no stranger to chasing controversy and frequently offends his patrons. I saw him live in Manchester a few months ago and he was hilarious, although I can't remeber most of what he said as I was just in awe of being in the same room, giggling away to myself. To give you a taste of what he's like, here's the first joke from the show... 'I blew a speaker in my car today... yeah... he was a motivational speaker. It left a bad taste in my mouth but I feel a lot more positive.' ...Melissa and Doug make some good strong wooden toys. This Flair Melissa & Doug - Stack and Sort Board is one I have seen many children use. It is really an educational toy. This board is a fairly thick base about 6cm wide and 2 cm thick it is about 30cm long .(my measurements are not exact but guesswork I do not have the toy with me but visualised it against a ruler I have here .) There are 5 poles of ascending heights fitted into the natural coloured base these have The tip at the enc coloured either red , blue , yellow , purple or green. Onto these fit coloured shapes. There is 1 green circle, two purple rectangles, 3 yellow triangles, 4 blue squares and 5 red pentagons 15 shapes in total . These shapes will fit onto any of the poles but the idea is to match the colours and shapes and then pop them onto the same pole...

Happy ink stamping

Advantages: keeps hands fairly clean

...Not too long ago I used these Flair Melissa and Doug happy handle stamps and was impressed. These wooden ink stamps come in a set of 6 with an ink stamp pad which is divided into 6 and has 6 different coloured inks these are a non toxic child friendly ink. I can not comment about the ink as I used this set without the ink pad I think the ink pad was mislaid. This set comes in a good case to keep them in tidily after use. I liked these shaped wooden stampers they were easy to hold and I did not get my fingers messy with ink. This is because the chunky shaped wooden handle to the stamps is long enough so that you can keep fingers away from the stamp. The stamper is in fact a rubbery one fixed to the wooden handle. The Saga Continiums...

Advantages: Enjoyable, easy read which rewards with plenty of humour
Disadvantages: Uses a little too many ideas from the show

...'The Last Human' was written by Red Dwarf's co-creator, Doug Naylor. Rob Grant had decided he wished to write a Red Dwarf novel by himself and Doug quickly decided afterwards he would do the same. 'The Last Human' is the result. 'The Last Human' follows Dave Lister and the rest of the Dwarf crew as they try and navigate their way back into their own universe having picked up Lister and Kochanski from the Backwards reality. Having made a mistake with the navi-calcs, the crew find themselves to have passed through the omni-zone, (the point in spacetime where alternate Universes meet) and into the wrong reality, where they find another version of their ship, which in turn leads them on a hunt to find and rescue Lister's otherself - at least, they think he needs rescuing... Advantages: Hilarious, and components are unexpected

...! The film and story line were originally written by 2 other people, only to be taken over by Jeremy Garelick and Todd Philips. The credit went to them and not to the previous writers.
