Many ISP’s these days restrict the maximum time a user can spend online at a single time, my ISP has a limit of 2 hours. You can of course reconnect immediately but that all important download has to be started again. That is of course unless you use a download manager. Downloading made Easy

Advantages: Free software, easy to use, resumes broken downloads
Disadvantages: Search function is a little slow

...The only draw back with my ISP (NTL) is that after two hours you automatically get disconnected, this can be annoying particularly if you are in the middle of downloading something. But at least I get 24/7 free connection and I can always re-connect. Back to the point of annoyance though. Downloading a large file on a 56K modem can be at times a little slow dependant upon where you are downloading from so to be cut off half way through is frustrating. I have tried several download managers to help with this problem. These are programs which look after your downloading and can pick up where they left off if you do get a severed connection during the process. Download.com is a site from the CNET.com network which allows you to download hundreds of new applications for free, rate them with others and find more new software. WHAT IS THIS? -------------- DAP is a software which allows to download any application, file, etc. using any Internet connection. ADVANTAGES OF DAP ------------------ Its main feature is its high speed. Speedbit, the company which sell this product, says that its speed is up to 300% faster. I have not notice too much difference, but I think it will more useful with slow connections. DAP "breaks" the file in several parts, and download each section from the same or different servers, so it is faster because it works with many portions of the file at the same time.
