Dragonball Evolution, The film that fan-boys love to hate!

Advantages: People have loved much worse films.
Disadvantages: If your a fan of Toriyama you probably won't let yourself like it.

...Dragonball Evolution!!! Being based loosely on Akira Toriyama's manga "Dragonball" means that people reading this review will fall into three categories; Die-hard fans of the manga, people who have seen the trailer for the film and want to know more, and of course those who stumble across it wondering what on earth a Dragonball is. Allow me to bring you down to Toriyama's level; Dragonball Evolution represents the Dragonballs faithfully. As can be seen on the DVD cover a Dragon ball is an orange-sized orange-coloured magic ball with a number of stars (from 1-7) on the side. Dragonball Evolution - THE FANS ARE WONG!

Advantages: Great action, some great comedy and sticks with some of the original storyline
Disadvantages: Alright-ish acting, too short, and bad director.

Advantages: Funny, good effects, tongue-in-cheek

...So, I hear that Ghostbusters 3 has been in development hell for quite a while, and there is something holding it back. Ivan Reitman is obviously fed up with waiting for it to happen, so here is Evolution. Ghostbusters 3 in all but name and with no "DON'T CROSS THE BEAMS!". I understand the movie was originally going to be a horror, this is very telling as wen you watch the film, you may jump once or twice (me and my girlfriend did), and can see where comedy has replaced "Oh my God it's eating hiom alive" moments. The Ghostbusters theme comes from three ordinary joes (David Duchovny, Orlando Jones and Seam Wiliam Scott (I think I've gotten his name wrong) stare at a meteroite for a while (strangely, the meteor lands without mashing up the nearby town a la Armageddon) and scrape some ooze off it. Dragonball - The series that started it all.

Advantages: Great Story, Good animation.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!

...Well, there's alot to say here. Please be aware there may be some spoliers to the series here. You have been warned. I was introduced to Dragonball when I was about 13, when Toonami (UK) played a marathon day from 7 in the morning to 11 in the evening. I wasn't originally too keen on it back then, but that's really what started my Manga / Anime thing. The series is based on the manga written by Akira Toriyama, who released it in Japan between 1984 and 1995, and entails Goku, the hero of the series, in his search(es) for the Dragonballs, 7 mystical balls that grant the user a wish, then they are unusable for the next year. In all, there are 9 sagas (in the english version, only 5 in the japanese), and these cover the 153 half hour episodes that were made.
