...Keeping your drains clear is a very useful home maintenance project. And, if done properly need not cost much money. There are dozens (probably more) propriety drain cleaning products available. These range from the useless to the very useful but also high dangerous. Remember. Whenever you deal with drain cleaning products always read the instructions, never, ever decant them into other containers and always, at a minimum, wear suitable rubber gloves. One of the best and most effective forms of drain cleaner are soda crystals. Old fashioned? They may well be. But they work and, although not entirely risk free, they are certainly not as dangerous as some drain cleaning products on the market. Cleaning blocked drains the cheap way

Advantages: cheap, environmentally friendly
Disadvantages:

...Before you call out hte plumber try this first. Instead of buying the environmentally unfriendly products of trying to unblock a drain, rather by some bicarbonated soda(250g or so depending on how blocked the drain is) and vinegar. Pour the dry bicarb over the drain hole and then some vinegar over. A chemical reaction will take place and it will fizz away. Leave for a least half hour while the fizz works throught the pipes. This usually unblocks the drain unless there is something big down there!! Repeat if the desired effect is not gained the first time....

Apartment smelled of drains

Advantages: Nice pool, pleasanr helpful staff, appartment very clean
Disadvantages: Bathroom stunk of drains, kitchen antiquated, no kettle, toaster or hairdryer

...had a bath or shower is absolutely awful. The drains pong. They smell worse than a roomful of teenage boys having a farting contest. I can?t describe it any better but suffice to say we keep the doors firmly closed to both the bathroom and toilet otherwise the pong pervades throughout the apartment. It seems to go off a bit during the day while we are out but once we use the facilities again it get bad and the doors have to be shut or the smell wafts into the bedroom and I can?t stand it. Having said all this the staff at reception and the bar and restaurant are delightful. They have been pleasant and done all they could to be helpful. Happy hour in the bar goes from 5pm to 7pm and during this time you get 2 drinks for the price of one for beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks which was quite good value and we did take advantage...

A Drain on the Brain

Advantages: There are a couple of amusing deaths
Disadvantages: Appallingly low production values, no sense of its own stupidity and total nonsensicality

...and fumbled characterisation. Jokey deaths drain any shred of menace out of many scenarios and so little time is spent fleshing out the characters that they may as well have numbers rather than names. It's a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth; the film doesn't even fall into any recognisable genre. It isn't scary enough to be a creature feature or a horror movie, there aren't enough laughs for it to be comedy, the set-up's too ludicrous to be a disaster movie and so on. The director has no concept of timing and cannot maintain suspense to save his life. You can pretty much tell who's going to die and when and there's never any doubt there will be a happy ending. Go out to the shops and search for a product called ?Jeyes drain cleaner and freshener?. Now this stuff is not easy to find. I first bought it in Sainsburys but have not seen it there since. I have now found a little hardware shop that gets it from his local cash and carry for me. I?m afraid you will have to shop around. Jeyes drain cleaner and freshener comes in a blue plastic bottle. With a blue and yellow label on the back and one on the front, with the words ?Jeyes Drain Cleaner and Freshener? written on it. On the back label it has the instructions. Plugholes need love too!

Advantages: effective treatment to clear plugholes and pipes, no harsh smell
Disadvantages: would be better if sold in a 400ml bottle

...The only disadvantage about having long hair, coming from a person who for most of my life has kept my hair short, is that the hair gets everywhere and as a result of this my bathroom plugs and pipes have suffered. I came across Buster Bathroom Drain Clear in the laundry/detergent aisle in Tesco and had not heard of this company before. What caught my attention was the fact that Buster Bathroom Drain Clear cost £2.99 for 300ml which is £1.00 cheaper than all the other sink and drain unblockers such as Mr Muscle, Domestos etc. Bathroom Crain Clear is a plughole treatment which blasts the blockages, smells and germs caused by hair and soap-sludge build-up down your plugholes and used regularly prevents slow running pipes and keeps everything fresh and free-flowing. Disadvantages: Hidden charges thru credit card purchases

...I finally checked my statements that VPRewards had already charged me £9.95 per month for the past 8 months amounting to a total of £79.60! Unknowingly, VistaPrint is draining my savings and I am determined to get this money back the soonest. I immediately sent emails to VP explaining my problem. They replied telling me that my complaint will be answered in due time and until I havent receive any feedback from, except that the promotional emails flooding over my inbox stopped already. The contact number found in the site is not working either, even they have a toll-free number available only during early morning hours which I did not bother to call them.   Emotionally draining, traumatic and distressing........

Disadvantages: stressful, draining, upsetting, distressing, traumatic, too much preparation

...?t get the job! This will usually be the same evening as the interview unless they are interviewing over a couple of days. Everyone is entitled to the feedback so if it is not automatically given to you when they ring, it is perfectly acceptable to ring the next day and request it. I do recommend this as the feedback I got from my first interview was quite useful as it made me realise that I had to control my nerves in the interview and presentation bit! To Conclude I am absolutely delighted to have been given my first teaching job in a school that I like! I am very glad that I only had to endure the interview process twice as it really was the most emotionally draining and stressful day of my life (each time!). The interview process for teaching jobs is very gruelling and traumatic but you will feel so proud of yourself once...

Not to be read whilst eating

Disadvantages: I felt so dirty while they were blocked!

...;t drained away by the time I got downstairs. When my friend had returned home I decided to get the cover off the manhole and see if I could tell what the problem was. I was confronted with a gutter that appeared to be blocked somewhere along the way. I assumed that it was near to my house and so I took the following afternoon off work with the intention of clearing it out. I’m brave like that! I started by preparing everything I would need. I put on long rubber gloves (I needn’t explain why!), I got a bucket to contain whatever the blockage was and some hot water and disinfectant. This was going to be easy, if a little messy!
