Dreamcast - Console of the future?

Advantages: Great graphics, great games, and internet access
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit costly, and the internet is quite slow with no choic of ISP!

...When I first played on a Dreamcast the first thing that popped into my mind was, "Whoa! This is just like the arcade!" I was playing on Crazy Taxi. The dreamcast is an amazing console with the best graphics I had ever seen. There is no jerkyness in the animation and it is all smooth and well finished. The console itself is quite compact which is good. This is no ordinary console though, this is the first console EVER to be able to access the internet. When you log on to the internet you are greeted by a site called the DreamArena which has recently been changed for the worst ( I think ). The internet access is not as fast as a pc and some site you cannot view due to things such as JavaScript etc. But it still is good for those who want to access the internet without having to fork out for a whopping PC. RIP Dreamcast

Advantages: Excellent Games Console, Great selection of games, Bargain Prices
Disadvantages: No Longer made, No More New Games

...Did anyone rush out and buy a GameCube or a Xbox? With the release of both machines recently, the console wars have entered another phase with everyone claiming to be the best in graphics and the games. Consolers of the Lonely- The Raconteurs. Listen and you'll love

Advantages: Great tracks, Can listen for free via Spotify
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker songs let it down slightly but not too much

We listen to music all day at work via Spotify and one of my colleagues decided to put this album on and I instantly fell in love with it. Dreamcast Not Sega's Best

Advantages: great console
Disadvantages: not a wide range of games

...This review is about the console, The Sega Dreamcast. I will talk about everything roughly about the Dreamcast, and how useful it is. The Dreamcast is a small console, all white, it has 4 controller sockets. There are quite a few buttons that you can use, there is the switch on and off button, the reset button, and the eject button, which allows you to put your game disc in and out. There are loads of games for this console, but only a fair amount of them are good, like Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, these games are now on the Gamecube also. Advantages: Cheap, has some excellent games, rare console to own
Disadvantages: No software developer support anymore, obsolete console

Dreamcast: Outcast?

Advantages: Brilliant games.
Disadvantages: hard and software no longer avaliable in the shops.

...The Sega Dreamcast was released in the UK during September 1999. At that time it was the most powerful console in the world and should have sold by the truckload. Despite a reasonable ad campaign though, Sega just were'nt able to sell many units and had they have continued with the console then being declared bankrupt was a distinct possibility. When Sega announced that they were going to cease production in early 2001, most major UK retailers suddenly cleared out their DC shelves and removed all stock from exsistence (which was a completely unnecessary and idiotic move). ...when i first got my dreamcast i was so happy, it was the only thing i wanted i got it for christmas, i first decided i wanted one in november, but i couldnt afford one, so i waited and waited and finally christmas came, it was one of the best days of my life, i ran downstairs and started playing on my games, sonic adventure, soul calibur and toy comander, they were all great and i was playing them all day, i had even forgot about the rest of my gifts. The graphics are the best i have ever seen and the games are really, really fun. I now own 11 games, which are all great. The best games i own at the minute are, Tony hawks pro skater, Resident Evil:code veronica and fur fighters, i would recommend these games, but resident evil has a lot of blood and gore so its a 15 and should only be played by 15 or older. Dreamcast Lives On

Advantages: great graphical capability
Disadvantages: lack of online gaming

...Dreamcast is by no means defunct and in my opinion, maintains itself highly against the playing abilities of Playstation 2. As an owner of all gaming consoles, as well as PC and GB, i would have to argue with anyone who claims that Dreamcast doesnt have the muscle to still compete with the other New consoles currently available. The ability to play import or copies of games makes the machine more accesible, indeed, some copy games do not even require a chip or boot disc to run! The graphical capabilities of Dreamcast have not been fully unlocked due to a lack of programmers investment, but i have yet to see a Playstation 2 title with graphics such as those seen in Shenmue or Ultimate Fighting Championship. (The release titles in Britain for PSX2 have been bitterly dissapointing)! The only downside to the DC is its lack of online games...

...Maybe this review will fall on deaf ears, but I must get this out. I'm upset, dear Ciao. I'm angry, bitter and confused, although not necessarily in that order. My Dreamcast is dying, it's wallet has been stolen and is lying like some poor sod whose been beaten up and left for dead. Many are to blame, most noticeably Sega, the unforgiving Parent Corporation, like a family who just doesn't need that extra burden. "Maybe it'll sort itself out" they (probably) thought, "maybe we can sit on our arses and see what comes up. The public will take care of it... Yes, yes of course they will! We ARE Sega after all!"
