Adobe Dreamweaver - fantastic bit of software!

Advantages: easy to use, code hinting, loads of useful features

Advantages: Great for first time webdesigners on a budget
Disadvantages: Not for experts

...I was first introduced to this software at school and have since been hooked. As an alternative to using notepad for making websites it is fantastic. The most useful programs in the package are Dreamweaver (website building) and Fireworks (Graphics). There is also in this set Flash, Freehand and Coldfusion. Dreamweaver is a fantastic piece of software which incorporates all the other elements in the MX packgage with ease. There is the usual graphic and code view, file manger, FTP and much more. The only downside to this program is that when you use html (or other code/scripts) that is not generated by Dreamweaver I have found that it doesn't cope well and rarely crashes. Which is very annoying at least. Fireworks I believe is a God send for website coders who are not strong at graphic design because it is simple to use...

...I have been building websites for a few years now, initially starting out by doing it the long winded way and writing directly in html and then later moving over to WYSIWYG editor MS Frontpage. While Frontpage has it's place I quickly became irritated with it due to the lack of support for the MS extensions by internet hosts, making many of the nice extras (e.g. mailform handling and hit counter) superfluous. Also as time goes by you start to spot a Frontpage site a mile away as many users stick to the built in templates. MX Dreamweaver erradicates these problems by not offering these services in the first place. Now some might say that in no doing so they are offering less than Microsoft but that is not the case. My MX850 thoughts!

Advantages: Finally an all in one with network support from Canon
Disadvantages: Reasonably bulky with some very poor setup software

...said this being a fax printer it wouldn't normally be turned off - just allowed to turn itself into standby in which case its ready for printing in about 10 seconds. The on screen display makes using the printer a bit of a doddle, it has adjustment for angle but sadly not contrast although it is good enough from factory anyway. The button layout and general ease of use is improved from the MP750 substantially. Print quality is exceptional, both for speed and results - I could ramble on here about it but to say you shouldn't be disappointed will suffice I think. CD/DVD printing is still just as easy as before but a huge plus over the old one is that the MX850 has a storage slot for the CD tray (beneath the main paper drawer) when its not in use.
