Advantages: There really are a couple of stunning tracks and it is essentially the same Dolls sound
Disadvantages: You get the impression that many of the tracks are recycled versions of better songs...

...The Dresden Dolls are one of those amazing bands that are hard to categorize; not in the case of HIM where I lazily describe their genre as 'gothic' for the sake of it. The band from Boston, Ma are a bit different to all of that and instead of being gothic, the Dresden Dolls created their own genre for themselves, namely Brechtian punk cabaret. No idea what it means but it looks good on a computer screen! Technically, lead singer, pianist and songwriter Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione aren't together as the Dresden Dolls anymore. Yes, Yes, Yes Virginia!

Advantages: Much more polished, mature and awe inspiring sound
Disadvantages: Maybe too different for some listeners to appreciate

...The Dresden Dolls self titled debut album was a real burst of adrenaline in the stagnant alternative music scene; it's combination of raunchy yet raw lyrics with powerful drums and crazy piano melodies made it a very unforgettable listen, an album that I shall take to my grave as one of my all time favourites. 'Many shapes and weights to choose from'?

Advantages: A fantastically unique album with such passionate performances via a piano and drum kit
Disadvantages: A little two different, the last four tracks let the first eight down considerably

...I am known at least a little for my somewhat bizarre taste in music. I'm not big into the R&B or rap genres but I do like my stuff to be a bit quirky and have a good edge to them. Step forward the American band, The Dresden Dolls, comprised of lead singer/pianist Amanda Palmer and the multi talented Brian Viglione, who mainly plays the drums for the two piece. The reason why they are for the most part unique is because of the fact that there are just two of them; unlike The White Stripes, they lack a guitarist or indeed a bassist so their sound is intensely focused on the piano and percussion instruments. Pussycat Dolls Domination

Advantages: Pop, Dance, RnB, upbeat tracks, some slow tracks, great vocals & soundtracks

...'Doll Domination' is the second album by the US girl group Pussycat Dolls that was released in September 2008. I am not really a fan of the group but I do like some of their more popular tracks like 'I Don't Need a Man' and 'StickwitU' and they are also well known for the track 'Don't Cha' and now 'When I Grow Up' from their latest album 'Doll Domination'. 'Doll Domination' has a good selection of 18 tracks which is a good number of tracks compared to most albums these days which normally average 13 tracks at the most.. The first track is 'When I Grow Up' which is one of the main singles on this album. ...What really drew me to the Dresden Dolls was the air of unpredictability they had. There is something absolutely terrifying about them, yet I can't really put my finger on why. Listening to the first album was a bit like watching a cat amongst pigeons. You knew it'd go mad, you knew it was kind of wrong to wait and watch for it to happen, but absolutely impossible to ignore. The Dresden Dolls sound is one that rests in 1950s Burlesque piano jazz, which occasionally travels to the modern day, punches you in the face with something bonkers and loud, and then retreats back to a smoky jazz café. Doll Domination

Advantages: Great Tracks

...Doll Domination is yet another Pussycat Dolls album, released in 2008, its their second released album, their first being PCD. You can buy Doll Domination in most good music stores for around a 10er, depending on where you are buying it, and if you are a fan of their music you will really find it worth the money, as in my opinion it is much better than the PCD album. Doll Domination has some great tracks on it, especially if you are a fan of the Pussycat Dolls, it has a real fun and girly feel to it, there are some great tracks to get you in the mood for a party when you are getting ready for a night out. Advantages: Plenty of wonderfully quirky and unique songs.
Disadvantages: A little less punk-cabaret than their debut album - some people won't like that...

The Dresden Dolls are a piano and drums duo from Boston, made up of Amanda Palmer (vocals, piano, songwriting) and Brian Viglione (drums). They've managed to create a their very own trademark style, even coining the genre Brechtian Punk Cabaret. Which is about the best way one can describe them.
