Not in the same league as the previous novels

Advantages: Continues the plot, the depth/strength of characters, the humour
Disadvantages: Not as good as the others but i can't quite place way

...If anyone's read my previous reviews on Jim Butchers fantasy-crime series "The Dresden Files", they will be aware that I'm very close to being obsessed and addicted. Each novel appears to be better than the last. However, the moment has come. Butcher has produced a book that doesn't follow the order, and I have found that Death Rites is my least favourite novel of the series. I'm no quite sure why I don't like it as much as the previous ones. It has the sharp tongue-in-cheek humour, the adventure, the mystery, the well structured and wrote characters, but still I was slightly disappointed. And that's even with the return of 4 of the best written characters: Susan, Marcone, Thomas and Michael. Advantages: Everything.
Disadvantages: It ends.

...depicting an actual event. I think that the fact that the novel is wrote in first person allows the reader to get more involved in the plot and feel for the characters more. While tying up some loose ends, Harry ends up getting more questions, which will undoubtedly be solved in the next books. Let's hope that Butcher doesn't give it all away too soon, and therefore allow the Dresden File fans to still get a fix of a new book in 5 years time. *Check out Jim Butchers website: www.jim-butcher.com it contains the first few chapters from all his books released so far. A Rite Bloody Good Read

Advantages: The whole book, the after-glow once finished
Disadvantages: Addictive, may hurt ribs when laughing, need to buy the next in series

...I was slightly dubious after reading Death Masks that this book would be of the same quality as the first 3 novels in the Dresden Files series. Within the first chapter, i was relieved....and glue to the book and chair. It was a wonder i didn't get a detention for missing the homework due in that i should have been doing instead of reading. I'll give you two reasons why the first chapter would hook someone: 1) Thomas the White Court Vampire is back after helping Harry Dresden out in the duel in the last book, and 2) a box of cute dogs, namely a notched ear puppy! However, its the next goodness-knows how many chapters that keep you glued to it. If you've read any of the Dresden Files series, then you would know that the books are 1st person narratives by Harry Dresden, private detective and the only wizard advertised in...

Review of Blood Rites (Dresden Case Files) - Jim Butcher

Proven Guilty of being entertaining.

Advantages: Continues the story, strong character interaction, funny
Disadvantages: More wordy than previous, not as strong a plot

...If you haven't read any of Jim Butchers series before, or, for that matter, heard of him or his books, then you should stop reading this now. Seriously. Its spoilers galore, and this is a series that you don't want to be spoiled for you. So please, go and check out my review on the other books (preferably starting with book 1)....and if you want to comment, well, who am I to stop you? The main character and narrator of the book is Harry Dresden, Chicago's only advertised wizard P.I. He is still being plagued by the fallen angel Lasciel who lives in his mind (well who doesn't have a fallen angel helping/hindering them with illusions) and his life is still a battle against the evil "things" trying to damage/take over/invade Chicago or kill/maim/enslave its inhabitants. Rockford Files

Advantages: good stories, good memories
Disadvantages: may be dated for some

...get this stwait" line was going to come up at some point, and that he had the puzzle solving mind of a mensa genius, he would also always get his man (or woman). And so it was the same with the Rockford Files, we always new that he would eventually get his criminal and that he will be back in the next show with more witty one liners. The good thing about the Rockford Files is that the main Character was "human" in that he didn't win every single fight; he wasn't a goody two shoes, sometimes even getting involved in the villain's plans. In other words he was flawed, almost an anti-hero in some cases although ultimately his heart was in the right place and he was charming with it, we certainly warmed to him and wished him the best every time. The Wolverine Files - A comprehensive & visually impressive book

Advantages: Well presented and packed with information, facts and great original artwork.

Mystery Case Files Millionheir.........

Advantages: Good gameplay, good storyline
Disadvantages: Puzzles can get a bit annoying when you cant find something and you have used all your hints

...Mystery Case Files: Millionheir is a game that I would recommend quite highly. You are a detective and you are set missions in which you have to find items amongst a whole load of others...a bit like wheres wally but not with wallys lol!! Mr Phill T Rich disappears from his mansion and is presumed dead, you have to look for the rightful heir to his fortune. I do not recommend playing this game if you have an headache though because it just doesn't help lol... You have to find special items as you progress through the levels in order to get to the next, for example you will need the flashlight to look in the rooms when the lightbulb blows but then for the next part you may need to back and find batteries for your flashlight as they do tend to run out! Dresden Saxony. Baroque high tech and dream food

Advantages: Great arts and history, nice people, great food
Disadvantages: Weather (sometimes, still better than most uf the UK ;-)

...Dresden has to offer a lot! Especially if you consider to take a dive into German history, enjoy the arts and fine cuisine (yes, Saxony is the only German place for fine and not too heavy food). After the wall came down in 1989, Saxony went back to the roots of the old kingdom (August the Strong or Augustus I has been king of Saxony from the late 17th century) by naming Dresden the capital of Saxony and trying to restore as many as possible treasures that have suffered under the former communist regime and many wars before that time (7 year war late 18th century, Napoleon's occupation in 1815 and the second world war with massive bombings by the allies). The X-Files .. what X-File?!?

Advantages: Good crime thriller, plenty of suspense!
