...Hmmmmm... what to say about this book? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it but it wasn't too exciting. THE PLOT The plot was basically about this boy called Fergal who decides to collect tins that have no labels on, he finds it interesting I suppose, like when collect cards, you have to buy them in the packet, yet you don't know what you'll get when you open them, except these are cans he doesn't open. Then when he's parents get angry at him cluttering up the room, he decides to open the lightest one. He opens it and finds a sleeper (a type of earring), then he opens another one later and finds a gross finger. I followed the instructions by rubbing the surfaces with sandpaper and wiping them with white spirit before painting. Then I applied the paint with a brush. This was more difficult than I had imagined. The thick, substance had the consistency of a wobbly jelly, and refused to go on evenly, regardless of how often I stroked it with the brush. On vertical surfaces, the paint ran down in thick drips, and started to dry like that. I wouldn't have minded so much had the paint not been promoted specifically as 'non-drip'. Indeed, the words 'NON DRIP' are printed in capital letters on the tin, bigger than anything else. It did not only drip, but it dropped, quite liberally...

...After Christmas having consumed vast quantities of rich food I am always ready for some 'simple stuff' that is nutritious and tasty. This is where I find myself reaching for the 'Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes in Tomato Juice' out of my kitchen cupboard. I always have a few tins of these in my cupboard and I hope that this review will tell you why. Firstly, and very importantly, these value tomatoes are almost half the price of the 'branded' ones. For a 400g tin they cost just 33p which works out at just a mere 8.3p per 100g. The tinned tomatoes are produced in Italy for Tesco's. The tin itself is fairly unattractive and boring with white and red markings and adorned with the unpretentious 'value' blue and white striped Tesco logo. Time for the taste test: I'm digging my spoon into the mound of sponge, covered in a thick chocolate sauce which is currently dripping down the sides of the pudding.....mmmmm...... The taste? Well, chocolatey, naturally! The pudding is stodgy, but not too stodgy - it's heavy enough to fill you up very quickly. The chocolate sauce is delicious, but there doesn't seem to be quite enough of it there to cover the whole pudding. If you're like me, and want to revert to school-dinner style puddings, go make yourself some nice thick custard and pour it over for the ultimate wicked pudding. Cream and ice cream work just as well, failing that, or, of course, you can eat it on its own. And a word of warning: if you think, when you open the tin, you can manage a whole one of these on your own, you'll be VERY wrong...
