Every 2 minutes someone passes but how many fail
Review of BSM by
willsmj
Advantages: safety
Disadvantages: cost
...As a part time advanced driving examiner I examine drivers of all ages and with various experience. The test is above that of the average driver, thus it is called an advanced driving test. BSM claim that a number of people pass their driving test each minute of the day, but they do not mention how many actually fail!
With the advanced test candidates come from various driving groups or driving schools, and, I have to say that the pass rate from candidates from BSM do not have as good a pass rate as many other driving schools or local tutor groups.
I am all for the further education of driving and road safety, but at what cost to the candidate?
My view is this. If yopu are considering taking an advanced driving test then look around in your area and seek local advice before committing to lessons. The advanced test is extremely good...

Rip-Up those L-plates!
Review of Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test by
gemma1234
Advantages: Convienent, Gives you independance, fun
Disadvantages: Expensive,nerve wracking!
...I have been learning to drive for about 8 months and today I passed my Practical Test !!! It was my first attempt at the test and I had a very helpful driving instructor and a friendly examiner.
Here are some tips on how to make the best of that dreaded test!
1) Make sure that you are ready to take your test.
Many people rush into their test and take it before they are ready, This may seem a good idea at the time as you think you can save money on lessons but in the long run it can result in more test attempts (which can be expensive). I did not put in for my test until I was sure that I was ready. If you have entered for your test and decide that you are not ready you can cancel it or change the date up to 10 working days before the test (it actually says the date before which you can change your test on a conformation letter sent...

Driving test
Review of Driving Test: All 3 Tests in One Pack (New Edition) by
Samcuj
Advantages: greater opportunity to passing first time
Disadvantages: none
...After shopping around for a comprehensive, easy to use driving test software package, I came across the 3-in-1 Driving Test, and found that it has all the budding learner driver needs to get them on the road. This PC CD-ROM comes with three Cd's, the first being the Theory Test. This is the official DSA Theory test question bank for both cars and motorcycles, and gives you an exact idea of what to expect on your Theory test day, and with over 1,200 questions and answers along with voice over, it is an ideal way to get the practice in. There are six meticulously structured Mock Theory tests that are based on the most commonly asked questions, and an appearance which is structured as you would see it in the test. Then there is the Hazard Perception part, which compared with many previous software packages makes its mark, and is far more...

NO MOTORWAY SPEED LIMITS
Review of Motorway Speed Limits by
zef
Advantages: getting rid of congestion
Disadvantages: ok at first you'd get the usual jokers racing
...I think they should do away with motorway speed limits except for extreme weather conditions and for heavy goods veicheles. To educate the people the government should introduce a separte driving test for motorway driving as it is not part of the current driving test and motorway lessons are optional. You should need a test pass to drive on the motorways. The autobahns in germany have no limits and have less accidents. Congestion would be made obselete under my proposals and because if the limits were reduced congestion would build up causing more polution whereas my idea would have every car running optimaly. Ever been on a deserted motorway at about 3 in the morning just wishing you were home, in a car that wouldnt break sweat at 130?
email me if you agree Id appriciate some feed back....

How to pass your driving theory with ease.
Review of Driving Test Success Complete package by
hixey101
Advantages: Easy to understand, very much like the real thing.
Disadvantages: Fairly expencive, depending on where you get it from.
...Before I took my driving theory test, I was quite apprehencive, as many of my friends had previously complained that it was quite difficult. I expressed my concern to my driving instructor, and her reccomendation was that I purchased some software for the PC to help me get through it.
My initial reaction was that this kind of software was just another way of getting money out of those begining to learn to drive, but I soon discovered that this was the wrong way to be thinking.
I purchased this software, which included three disks, one for the actual theory (multiple choice) part of the test, one which included a simulation of the hazard perception aspect to the test and a final disk which was a piece of routefinder software.
I got this home and installed it onto my computer. My initial reaction to the interface was that it is very...

Learning to drive and if your fail your test
Review of Independent Driving Schools by
Anna145
Advantages: independence
Disadvantages: being let down
...Learning to drive is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I passed my test in February of this year and can honestly say I have never looked back since.
I realised I wanted to learn to drive when I decided to commute to university. It used to take me ages to get home on the train and bus I used to long to get in a warm car!
My Dad taught me the basic principals of driving and got me road worthy then I went with an independant driving school.
I loved my lessons and got on really well with my instructor. I took my theory test and passed first time. People say the theory test is really easy multi choice questions who can go wrong? I can assure at £15.50 a time it is not cheap so REVISE. Only 60% of people pass first time.
Anyway then the day came of my test, I was secretly excited inside but worried at the same time. When...

The real cost of learning to drive.
Review of Independent Driving Schools by
Blondechick
Advantages: You get your driving licence and it's convenient
Disadvantages: It's expensive to learn and expensive to run a car
...driving test I had to pass the theory test. The test comprises of thirty-five questions on topics related to driving and the rules of the road. To pass I had to get thirty questions correct in a set time. Sounds easy, yes it is if you have got all the right books to learn from and at a cost of about £10 to £15.00 each, I class it as another hidden expense of learning to drive. Then there’s the actual theory test itself. Well you didn’t really think you could do that without forking out again do you? Yes more expense. The theory test costs £15.50 and I couldn’t do it in the comfort of my house, I had to travel to the nearest centre to complete it and in the unfortunate case of me failing it its another £15.50 every time a test is taken…luckily I passed mine first time.
I got my theory test pass certificate, and after...

Well... I passed.
Review of Driving Test Success Hazard Perception DVD by
simonscott36
Advantages: Quite a few clips to try out
Disadvantages: Not really any actual advice
...Well... I guess I can't complain too much, seeing as I did pass my theory test on the basis of this CD, but I did only scrape a pass. That's probably more to do with me, but I'd like to blame the CD a little bit.
The content is fairly minimal, it tells you a few basic things about the theory test, things that should be fairly obvious, or, if they're not, that you're driving instructor should have told you. This aspect will only be useful to people taking the test entirely on their own and then it will familiarise you with the setup of the test, and run you through what will happen when you go to the test centre. Which is quite useful as it means nothings unexpected when you actually get there.
The rest of the CD is made up of sets of three clips from hazard perception tests, you run through the clips as if you were driving, clicking...

great for learning
Review of Driving Test Success Complete package by
malison
Advantages: brilliant insight into the tests
Disadvantages: shows you just how hard the tests are!
...im a single mum of three, who desperatly needs to get a driving license!
everyone has always said "how hard" the test can be, i always remember thinking "what 35 questions!!".
i brought this cd rom in asda for £7.97, and i am so glad that i did! the cd rom has got every single test question thats in circulation at the moment (over 1000). it also has the new hazard perception cd rom, which means watching short clips of cars driving and spotting the hazards ( which may i add,i am not very good at all! ).
you can print out tests, take tests, take certain subjects out of the tests. the tests even get marked, which is great, it tells you what your good at and what your not. so then you know what you need to brush up on the most.
i think this is a brilliant way of learning, im so glad i brought it, this was the first cd rom i brought, i...
