What is DRM

DRM (Digital Rights Management) is a method of controlling digital content (from this review, to a DVD of Superman). Controlling can mean a lot of things depending on the type of content. For example the DRM in DVDs is simply to stop people copying the DVDs, while DRM in Adobe Acrobat can be set to let you copy the data, but not edit it, or to only be able to read the data once before it will self-destruct.
Why do people want DRM

Review of JVC DR-M 1
Advantages: Metal body, small size. Robust Disadvantages: expensive
...I held off for years getting an ipod as I do not believe in companys using drm. DRM is "digital rights management". This means, that although I pay for the tunes I download on itunes, I do not have the right to copy them onto the ipod, then back onto another of my computers.
So initially, I was expected to buy one copy. If I upgraded the computer, I would not be able to back up the music onto my other computer... Nasty.
Anyway. Apple has now dropped DRM, so I can backup my purchased onto another PC, yeehah !
Now, back to the ipod nano. 8GB is a fair amount of memory for an mp3 player, I can usually get around 2000 songs and artwork onto it.... except, I usually keep mine set on 5GB for music, 3GB for mp4 movies and tv shows, and the rest for things like audiobooks and podcasts.
Movies and TV shows you say ? yes. And to be honest...
Advantages: Genius design - too much is wonderful to mention here Disadvantages: the recessedheadphone jack and the on screen keybaord; no 3G
...also download tracks directly to your iPhone. This is far quicker than sync-ing your iPod to a desktop first and all that and if you buy the iTunes Plus ones - the DRM-free versions which are available for many songs - you can copy them on.
WI-FI CONNECTIVITY
Here is one area where the iPhone does not win all the plaudits. It doesn't have 3G. Instead it has this O2 EDGE network which might be better than crawling to your web destination using GPRS but really isn't making the best use of the iPhone's capabilities. It does come with free connection to a large number of wi-fi hotspots though, so it picks up a few points again for that. You can email, attaching photos you've just used the iPhone to take, browse the web and keep a calendar. It has a separate You Tube browser thingy and one for Google maps as Safari can't cope with flash pages...

Although it has got a storage memory of 2GB at most 140 songs can be crammed although it depends on the file format and the length audio file, what I have suggested is on the basis of normal circumstances.
COMPATIBILITY:
It has limited compatibility. The point of real concern is that it does not have compatibility with Linux of Mac. But has no compatibility issue with Windows XP/Vista.
IT has no video play back and audio file compatibility is also questionable. As long as the mp3 format is concerned it has no...

The only gripes I have with itunes is that music bought comes DRM encrypted which means you can't copy it onto another device without unlocking it via software off the internet. Also at 79p a song it's quite expensive and if you want a music library with thousands of songs it's going to set you back quite a bit. However when you balance up the costs and the ease and efficiency of using itunes it is worth it.
I think if you're looking for a new MP3 player you can't really go wrong here but beware of hidden costs and what it might cost you after if you get a new device after this one.

...It will be probably not improper to say that when you talk about media players the name of a Sony or an Apple immediately captures your mind. At least it does to me. But not after I saw Archos 605 Wifi. I don?t think it lacks behind any of those two if not better (Please keep reading this review, don?t take a decision). For the similar product from samsung, this gadget has several choices from the measurement of the capacity until the measurement of his screen with the different price, better more expensive. Many similar products but I more like this one but the choice is in yours....
