...I own a Hohner LEX 5-piece drum kit. I bought it a couple of years ago for £300. This included Hi-hats and a crash/ride cymbal. This drum kit is a standard 5 piece kit, consisting of a bass drum, a floor tom, two mid toms and a snare. Included was a snare stand, and a cymbal stand. For the price the kit is surprisingly well made, with the insides of the drums smooth, and the outside finished in a shiny black laquer. There is a label on each of the drums with the make, Hohner, the model, LEX, and saying that it was made in Taiwan. All of the hardware, with the exception of the snare stand is sturdy. ...I had this kit bought for me on my 21st Birthday after being let down by the ION ED01 kit a few years previous. This kit is fantastic, admittedly a little too expensive but you still get a good sound, a nice drumming experience and a generally very responsive all round kit. The pre-sets are great, the ability to set up double-bass is wicked, the metronome is an added bonus and the coolest thing of all is the ability to jack your own music straight into the kit from your computer or other music device. There are several slots open on the end of the list of pre-set kits for you to build your own kits as well, which I've done loads of times, really fun! All round great kit for intermediate players and easy to move and store :)...

...The Yamaha Stage custom is a very well built kit, which equally sounds and looks fantastic. To the advantage of the customer it ranges at a price a lot lower than your average Yamaha drum kit but still is of the original Yamaha quality. I have owned the Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage for a year now and I haven?t looked back once. I bought it as a 7 piece in a metallic green with hardware. It now also has Paiste Signature cymbals and a Pearl double bass drum pedal also. But if you bought it new you would pay £690 for it. This is only with 3 toms though, with mine I have 5. Y.E.S.S. ball claps which come with the kit are the best I have seen, they allow the player to move the toms in to any position which is required which normal mounts just do not allow you to do. ...I got this drum set about a year ago, it's my first drum kit and i have to say quite good for the price. set up is easy if you follow the well drawn book, just a matter of attaching some clamps putting poles in and tightening things, the control box for this is a bit too complicated for my liking and the instructions for that don't help either. The drum pads: the drum pads are all the same size and can be positioned wherever you want on the kit, they are also touch responsive which makes for a more realistic feel. Drum pedals: the drum pedals are way too sensitive you have to either have your foot pushed hard down on it or not on it at all and when you do want to play it you just push them the lightest bit. ...I have found a new love is Nestle chocolate- in particular, the Kitkat chunky. Sorry Mars Bar, but now that you've changed the texture of your nougat, you're no longer my top. Now, I've never really liked wafer chocolate bars like Time outs or Drifters and indeed, the standard Kitkats as I always found them a little bland and boring, prefering the creamy sweet caramel filled chocolate bars. I remember trying one of these once with my brother when we were on a plane (going on hols) and we didn't like them much and felt sick after a couple of bites. Excellent and Noisy Fun with Fun with a Drum

Advantages: Educational, well built, inexpensive, good variety of instruments
Disadvantages: Very, very loud, maracas slightly too small

...I bought this product for my son from our local supermarket. Although he was only 14 months at the time he has shown a real love of musical instruments and I wanted to steer him away from my kitchen pans and long-loved recorder to something of his own which would give him the same joys and still be educational. From the moment I took it out of the packaging he wanted to get his hands on it and spent the first hour drumming solidly, enjoying every minute of it. It was a little harder for him to switch from blowing down the recorder to using the harmonica but once he'd made that first note he had no troubles and he was delighted with the tambourine. The maracas are fairly small (perfect for his little hands but I expect he would soon grow out of them) but the drum and tambourine are a nice size and will last well past his third birthday...
