...Orijen cat and Kitten Dry Food: The last time I was browsing round the Zooplus website I noticed some ?Orijen? dry cat food which said it was suitable for adult cats and kittens of all breeds and that is was supposed to be exceptionally good for your cats health. I read a few of the reviews and decided to give Orijen a go. When the food arrived I was amazed by the ingredients, Tifa has never had it so good and is currently eating better than me! As the ingredients are so amazing I am going to include them in my review below. The food consists of 75% premium animal ingredients, (de-boned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, northern whitefish, chicken fat, de-boned turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, de-boned salmon, chicken broth and free-range eggs). Cruelty free cat food

Advantages: Uses free-range chicken, no cruel animal testing
Disadvantages: Only 2 flavours

...Background: I try my best not to buy any products which have been tested on animals. I also only buy organic chicken and eggs because of animal welfare issues. I found it very difficult to stick to these principles when buying food for my cat, until I discovered Burns when looking on the BUAV (British Union for the abolition of Vivsection) website. I found a local stockist and bought a small pack of the chicken version of this food early this year to try on my cat, Maisie, and have been feeding her on it ever since. She took to the new food straight away (although she was already used to dry food) and we experienced no ill effects whatsoever in changing her over (gradually of course). Morrisons My Cat Complete Dry Food

...As we are on a tight budget at the moment, I decided to try My Cat Complete Dry Food. I have bought supermarket brand cat food before and they enjoyed it. I use a gravity feeder and waited until it was empty before filling it up. The next morning the feeder was in the middle of the kitchen floor and most of the biscuits had been emptied over the floor. I thought someone had kicked it by accident. This happened again the next morning, to my dismay I realised that my cats were doing it, they disliked the food so much that they were digging around to find any remnants of the old food still in the feeder. My cats favourite food

...When I first got my cat which was over three years ago, I would buy the cat a rang of cat food, and it did not matter which brand it was but now my cat knows which brand is which and won’t eat anything other than Felix. You may be thinking how can a cat know the difference, it’s food after all. But I have to tell you that my cat won’t eat another brand other than Felix. If he seeds food in the plate, he’ll smell it and if he like it he’ll eat it and if he figures out I’ve put another brand in his plate, he’ll turn away and rub himself against me until I give him what we wants. I suppose to many my cat is spoilt. He is big cat who likes his food, which has to be Felix. I normally buy the food in bulk so isn’t that expensive, about 43p a can. Tesco Premium Cat Food - buy it!

Advantages: Great value for money, good range, litter doesn't smell
Disadvantages: none for us at all, other users may find some

...We live in a household where 3 cats rule the roost. Well we certainly don't have servants who feeds us and clean our toilets. Or for that matter have free board and lodgings! Yes, we are here to cater to our cats' whims and providing the right food is important, otherwise we wake up to a nice nugget of recycled food strategically placed in protest!! We have gone through all types of food for our cats (2 adults and 1 older kitten) including all the big names and all the value names. One day, being strapped for cash, we decided to risk a protest poo and try feeding the boys Tesco cat food. We realised that from one 30p (or so) tin we can spread it out and feed our cats the same amount of food as three 30p (or so) whiskas pouches!! Brings home prodigal cat

...the downside of James Wellbeloved is getting hold of it - I have never seen it in the supermarket but have sourced it through specialist pet stores and the vets. This does mean we have to plan ahead in case we run out but with a choice of 1kg, 5kg and 10kg bags we normally manage to keep going! We put down two bowls a day for four cats. The food works out slightly cheaper when you buy it in bulk and does last well - for four cats 5kgs will keep us going for a month. We also give them pouches, but it is obvious the dry food beneits them as all four have improved coats with fantastic plush fur (and none are pedigrees - all are moggy rescues). A fantastic product - have been using it for a couple of years now and it does stop Pesto going on his holidays so it must be good!...

Some cats just don't know they're born

...When my sister came to live with me a year ago, she brought with her one small boy and two cats. When we divided chores between us, I took on the role of shopper, whereby she informed me that the cats - Ruby and Razor - would eat Felix Foil Trays and NOTHING ELSE. Fair enough. Or that's what I thought until I got to the supermarket and found that this was just about the most expensive cat food they sold. So began my attempts to surreptitiously introduce the hitherto spoiled pets to cheaper, less extravagant meals.
