D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router 4 Port

Advantages: Pick up a bargain ?

...Another review from me for a discontinued item, but may be useful if you're loking to pick up a bargain item on ebay... The D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router has a built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)-enabled phone line, and with its 4 port 10/100Mbps ethernet switch, allows connections to lots of things (check out my other reviews for what it's connected to...). The DCHP server allows automatic allocation of IP addresses to all your network gubbins too - although I've set the IP's for my wireless accesspoint & print server to allow easier access to their brower based interfaces. The DSL-504 has a browser admin interface too for easy installation and setup, just type in the IP address (the default 192.168.0.1, as with most routers, but if it's changed you can always use the command line...

Belkin - High-Speed Mode Wirless G Router

Advantages: High speed sharing of internet connection. Free on-line and phone help
Disadvantages: A bit tricky to set up for me at first..

Other capabilities is has is that through the 10/100 4-port switch (I don't know what this means but we've got it!) we can share files, printer, music or anything either of us has on our hard drives. The router is also equipped with a firewall that will protect our network from hackers and such the like, although I still have Mcafee firewall/virus software installed and would not like to be on line without it. Advantages: Good Speed, Easy Configuration, Quick Setup, Good Documentation, Integrated 4-Port Switch

...I would highly recommend this Router to either a networking novice or professional looking to setup a home or small office network. I was surprised at how easy this was to setup and configure in my environment. After connecting the few cables and rebooting my PC's, everything seemed great though I could not connect to the Internet. I realised that I have not restarted my Cable Modem and after doing so eveything linked correctly and could again access the internet. On reading the documentation I realised I should have done this initially, however this omission was down to my normal method of only reading the documentation after the installation. Advantages: durable.
Disadvantages: can cut out without warning leaving you to troubleshooting it.

...The belkin 54g wireless router is very good when it comes to a strong signal, yet i still find it immensly annoying!!! When its running smoothly, it is no problem what so ever, but every now and then, maybe once every week or so, the signal will cut out for no reason and you will find yourself VERY frustrated when trying to retrieve it. apart from this minor annoyance, the belkin is generally a very good piece of kit for your money. I payed around £50 for mine, and havent regretted it too much yet. the quality is OK but not amazing, its built well as i found out when i trod on mine, not even a crack appeared, there was nothing damaged what so ever... wich impressed me because it looks plastic and cheap. the belkin is very easy to use and can easily be reset with the little push button on the back if it does decide to go a bit off...

Marshall DSL 50 - Pure Rock Heaven!

Advantages: All the authentic classic rock tones you will ever need. Sounds amazing. Simple. Great value.
Disadvantages: Some features not foot-switchable which limits its potential. Clean/Crunch volume difference.

...something its not. They have been built the same way for decades and Marshall stick to what they know best. The DSL 50 has that unmistakeable Marshall sound and I absolutely love it! In my opinion, this amp performs best when the raw sound of the amp is left to come through, uncoloured by FX pedals. The clean setting is warm and full bodied and just sounds awesome. I've previously used a fender twin and although that clean sound was superb there is something about the marshall that i just feel more confident with, but that's all down to personal preference. With the 'Deep' switch on, the clean can be a little bass heavy for my liking but its in no way flabby or muddy, just a bit too warm. The crunch setting is what you'd expect from a Marshall - authentic sounding classic crunch tones. I don't like the difference in volume between clean...
