Sony a200 - one of the best budget dslr cameras available.

Advantages: Great battery life, comfortable in the hands, picture quality.
Disadvantages: Flimsy memory card and remote release slot.

...was very easy to use. The camera comes with an 18-70mm kit lense, which is ample enough zoom for most situations. Features such as auto exposure bracketing normally only available on more expensive models are also available on this camera, which was great to see on a 'budget dslr.' I felt the hinged part of the camera which houses the memory card and interface for the remote release was of a lower built quality than I'd have hoped, but you can't have everything for a dslr at this price....

Great entry level dslr at a great price

.... This means that there are lots of lenses easily available and you do not have to go out and spends £100's of pounds on special lenses to fit it. It has inbuilt anti shake so it helps to keep your photos crisp and sharp even when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. It comes with double anti dust which means every time you switch the camera off it gently shakes the sensors to dislodge any dust. You can set the camera to full automatic, semi automatic or manual depending on your needs. It also has its own inbuilt pop up flash and also has a hot shoe for detachable flash guns to be fitted too. The pictures i get with this camera are exceptional. You really do notice the difference in the sharpness of the photos. This is a great camera for learning how to use and master a DSLR. Even at a high ISA setting the noise or speckles...

A Very Good Choice DSLR And For The Price Cannot Be Bettered

Advantages: Great pictures, great price with lots of old quality kit to be had for it a not a lot of money
Disadvantages: Not the build quality I was expecting and a few setting need tweaking.

.... The results from it are amazing. If this is a first step into owning a DSLR then you really will not be disappointed. Many will moan that the lense that comes with the camera isn't great but it will do and besides, that is what ebay is for. There is a world of great quality used Minolta lenses out there for not a lot of money that will really make this camera shine. One thing worth mentioning is that thanks to improved image processing, my 4 gig CF card will hold nearly 1000 10.2 MP images on it but only 650 lower resolution pictures on my older Minolta camera. The screen is a great size displaying sharp, clear previews. No live view but this isn't something I will miss just yet. If you feel that you cannot live without it though, the Alpha 300 isn't a great deal more expensive and is basically the same camera. I just didn't feel it was worth...

...The Sony Alpha 200 is an excellent entry level DSLR available at very attractive prices. It offers a very good set of features that I will go over in more detail, later in the review. This kit includes the 18-70mm lens which gives it a much larger zoom range over it's competitors (both Canon and Nikon give their entry models an 18-55mm, about a 3x zoom), for a much lower price. THE BODY The camera's body is robust and solid- however it does sport a 'plasticy' feel to it. The Sony A200 is also slightly larger than the Nikon and Canon entry level models- whether that's a positive or a negative depends on your needs (i.e. do you like have a lot of space on the camera body? Do you have large hands etc.). The screen is sharp and clear, it also rotates depending on the orientation of the camera, so if you hold the camera sideways...

...After seeing reviews for this camera i thought i should write one.I bought the fujifilm finepix camera 6 weeks ago and i have got alot of usage out of it. trying to make my way from amateur photography to semi-pro i needed to upgrade my camera and after seeing reviews for this saying good and bad things i thought I'd give it a try. The first thing i noticed when holding the camera is how comfortable it sits in your hand, although it isn't the lightest camera i have used it is easy to hold without any discomfort.It is an 8 megapixel camera and although reviews have said it doesn't reach the full potential i have found no problems if the settings are right. It has 26mb internal memory and supports XD and SD memory cards. pictures are automatically saved as jpeg files and it also captures movies with sound and they are saved as avi files...

Solid built DSLR Camera

Advantages: Very good value now that it costs under £500
Disadvantages: Fast shooting is quite slow at 3fps

...This DSLR camera was over £1000 when it first came on the market. Now it is under £500 and it is a bargin of a DSLR for the money. It shares a body with the Nikon D200. Because of this it can be used with Nikon Lens' and D200 accessories. It uses Compact Flash memory, and has a cache ram for 7 shots. The camera is quite big, heavy and bulky so is not the best of cameras for taking on holiday etc. But the quality of the pictures is excellant. It can be used as fully automatic and basicly just point and shoot but for the best results I've found that the manual settings (if you can be bothered using them) gives the best results....

  Another 5 star Sony!

Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.

...For a while now I have been receiving private mails on both Dooyoo and on Ciao asking me to review the Sony A200 DSLR camera, this is because I have made mention of it in a few of my camera reviews lately but never actually got down to doing a full write up on it. I haven't reviewed it previously for a couple of reasons mainly though that I had up until now only had a few hours experience of the unit. Now with a whole weeks shooting with it under my belt and over 1000 pictures taken with it I feel much more capable of writing a thorough review on it.
