Advantages: Strong Frame and Wheels, Tyres do not let go Disadvantages: None really!!
...Bought this bike with my work cycle to work scheme.
A great buy from Halfords.
Excellent speck for the price and a very strong bike. I'm 18st 10 (253 ibs) and in my opinion this bike can handle this weight easily.
Great colour Black with like a Pearlesent White, Very good speck components, Shimano Deore derauillers and Sram Truvatic Crank.
Hydrolic Brakes and Discs. These will stop you instantly and do tare a little time to get used to or a flight over the bars could come along. These sqeak when covered in Muck and Water for the first few occasions, but when used this disapates.
Wheels are Alex DP17 rims, Strong, Maxxis Ingnitor Tyres Grip like hell.
Suntour XCR forks are ok for Cross Country riding, Not a great Jump fork, but hey Im no Jumper! (I think that if yoiu are lighter than me you could have some safe landings with these...
Advantages: Great fun, slow, Harry loves it Disadvantages: Noisy, siren is a pain
...Now, Harry isn't what I would call a daredevil. In fact, he's not into anything that moves too fast or does things that he doesn't expect to happen, pretty much like any 2 and a half year old I expect. So as you can imagine, I wasn't overly thrilled when I found out last year that Harry's great aunt had bought him a motorised motor bike. Please bear in mind last Christmas he was only 21 months old and consequently pretty small and unconfident, but nonetheless, the Halfords Mini Racer Bike was on its way to us courtesy of my parents. It wasn't something we expected to keep for long but funnily enough, its now become Harry's favourite ever toy!
The Halfords Mini Racer Bike is available from the Halfords website, and in-store but I can't really say I have ever seen one when I have been into a Halfords. My brother works for Halfords...
Advantages: Torque, comfortable, good looks. Disadvantages: Nothing.
...I bought a DT on a 54 plate a few weeks back, at the time I had a broken leg which wasn't too bad as I spent the time cleaning filters, changing oil, plugs etc. and generally cleaning the thing up. Now my legs better I've had a chance to go out on the bike, my first impression was very good.
The bike came with a DEP silencer and standard chamber, which I am looking to replace, when low revving the bike sounds deep and the torque is pretty impressive. The top end is also there, I don't really like to ride bikes to the red line every time I get on them but the DT will happily do 70mph and seeing as I live in a rural area that's good enough for me. However, if the bike was pushed I could see it reaching 80.
The bike rides well, Yamaha usually produce good, smooth suspension and this bike is no exception. Despite having a slightly stiff...

Review of Yamaha DT125
Advantages: great customer service, great quality Disadvantages: Matching accessories not available
...On Tuesday 27 March, my son turned three making him officially a "big boy" as he reminds us on at least an hourly basis. His dad and I thought it only appropriate to celebrate this graduation into "big-boyhood" by buying him his first "big boy" bike.
Kyle is an extremely active and strong boy and the level of destruction he can cause is extraordinary to say the least so it was vital that we found a bike that could withstand the endurance test that is hurricane Kyle and unfortunately, it was doubtful that the Spiderman bike from Argos he had his eye on was going to do the trick.
With this in mind I started to do some research online into different options. One brand in particular kept popping up in reviews and newspaper/magazine articles. That brand was Isla Bikes. Now, I am not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to...

Review of Isla Bikes
Advantages: Small cheap, good quality Disadvantages: no brakes
...A child’s first sized pushbike, with stabilisers, squeaky horn and clip on basket.
Adjustable handlebars and seat, suitable for children from approximately 2 to 4 years.
Manufactured by Universal and costing around £30 from large toyshops such as Toys”r”us.
My 2 year old was desperate for her own “big girls bike” with two wheels and stabilisers.
I looked at many, most of which were above £50, as I didn’t have as much as that to spend, I homed in on this jazzy little bike initially sold in Index.
After realising that they were from the old stock and that they were not in the catalogue, the pleasant assistant offered to go out to the back of the store to see if there were any still lurking in the warehouse.
Perfect, one left, and as it was old stock at an unmissable price of £22...

Review of Toshiba RD-85 DT
Advantages: Good runner, starting every time (almost) Disadvantages: Poor security
...I have recently aquiered a Yamaha DT50, trail bike and I have already fell in love with it. The bike accellerates fairely slowly but it runs well and it reaches a top speed of somewhere between 40 and 50 MPH, depending on the wind. The bike is extremely light weight in comparison with some other learners bikes and it handles better too. The security on the bike is laughable, with only a steering lock which is fitted to the sideof the handlebars, but with a cheap D lock through the rear wheel, the bike becomes secure enough to leave almost anywhere.
As I am only just 16, some of the insurance policies can be extremely stupid, some asking for double the bikes value, but with the right company, the bike can be cheap to run and insure, making it a very good learners bike....

Review of Yamaha DT50
Advantages: none Disadvantages: deceiving images, you don't get the bikes you are paying for
...Last weekend, me and my friends decided to go for a tour of Regent Canal by bicycle, and therefore we looked for a bike hire service in London.
Between all the websites we found this one, an appealing website with photographs of fantastic dutch classical bikes for hire in London.
The website shows photographs of really nice and stylish bikes which are for rent at a decent price, 25 pounds per day per bike if you hire them for 1-3 days. Even though there were cheaper options we decided to treat ourselves for one day and choose one of these appealing bicycles, just to make it a really unique experience for one day! If only we knew!
The delivery process is quite straightforward, you choose a bicycle and they deliver it to you wherever you are in London with a little van. And here we had the first surprise: they delivered to us 3 bikes...
Advantages: Light, Great gears, Good looks Disadvantages: Uncomfortable saddle, not the greatest wheels
...I have long harboured a desire to own a half decent roadbike. Fortunately my employers opted into the "Cycle to Work scheme" And I purchased a Defy 2.5.
Looks
This bioke looks good in a largely black and white frame with grey details. The bike itself is set at fairly agressive angles with a nice low handlebar.
Frame
The frame is extremely light aluminium (10kg total weight) and put together with very neat and efficient welds. The geometry feels right on the bike, although if you are new to raod bikes you may find the handlebar set a little low. My first ciouple of journeys resulted in sore back and stiff neck, however you soon adjust.
Gears
This bike features a 27 speed Shimano Tigra setup (3 front cogs, 9 rear cogs) That gives you a huge variation. In the highest gear roadsise blurs past you...
Advantages: Low cost magnetic resistance bike, pretty sturdy for the price Disadvantages: Seating position not necessarily the most comfortably, not great for shorter people!
...My previous exercise bike of many years (mostly used as a clothes horse, but more recently brought into service in a determined attempt to get fitter and thinner) recently broke. Specifically, its resistance strap wore through and the ride became more like freewheeling down a hill than anything more energetic. With this in mind I decided to go for a bike with magnetic resistance. I settled on this one as, not only did it fulfil my criteria of a magnetic resistance system coupled with a relatively cheap price, but it was also foldable, and storage space is an issue in my house.
As is usual in my reviews, I'll discuss my reasons for my ratings in the 'Specific Criteria,' and include and extra section of general comments.
Durability
At £79.99 (when I bought it) this was the cheapest magnetic resistance bike I could find, which didn...
