A bargain for any portable DVD player, I wasn't particularly bothered how good it was because I knew my daughter could take it on holidays or on long trips in the car and it would keep her occupied. ...I've wanted a DVD player that was capable of playing DivX files for a while because of all my anime and por...errr....other video files..., but the players cost more than normal DVD players so resisted for a while. I've seen brands such as KISS and Yamada but later came across this DK Digital DVD-500 DivX DVD player after the prices have dropped. It only cost £41.98 (61.52 Euros) from SVP Communications (AKA Blank Disc Shop). -= The Player =- The player looks sleek with a black and silver design. Black at the front with silver at the top and bottom curving in towards each other at the middle, which I think looks really good. Review of DK Digital DVD-500 DivX DVD player

A must-see for all of those car mad boys!

Advantages: The soundtrack
Disadvantages: The characters aren't very strong

...When I first watched this film, I thought it was a loud of rubbish. At the time I was convinced it was probably the worst Disney film that I had seen and wasn't bothered about watching it again any time soon. Noah had other plans and I am currently watching it for the hundredth time! I am not sure if it's a case of becoming familiar with something and quite liking it but this film has really grown on me. The film is based around a famous race car, Lightening Maclean, who gets lost and finds himself in a small town on Route 66 called Radiator Springs. He ends up having to stay in the town after getting arrested and being ordered to fix the road that he broke as a result of wreckless driving. He is desperate to leave and get back in time to win the Piston Cup but as time goes on he makes some great friends. Will he stay and build...

Lightning Strikes the screen

Advantages: Excellent Animation

..., especially the amusement of the tractors (if you've seen the film you'll understand!) Of course the story is predictable. And of course the real story isn't about cars - it's about friendship, love and the things which are really important in life. As you'd expect the film does end happily ever after (I hope this doesn't spoil it for those who haven't see it!) The animation is superb, and attention to detail amazing (even the insects are cars. It really hits home how far Pixar have come since the days of Toy Story (which seemed out-of this world at the time). The film is 112 minutes which is actually pretty long for an animated film. The DVD is excellent value for money - bought it for £9.97 from Morrisons. There is an amusing short film called "Mater and the Ghostlight", and a slightly bizarre short film called "One Man Band...

DVD's a Plenty!!!

...from around that price and appear still big and bulky. This particular Woolworth?s Worth It DVD player was tiny and looked pretty snazzy in a compact way. So to look at the DVD is a nice silver in colour and is 4cm in height, 20cm in width and 16 cm in length. So as you can tell really the whole system is pretty tiny (especially if you saw our last Liteon DVD recorder which took up a little too much room). There is no display screen on the front of the DVD player and all the buttons are on top of the box instead of usually being at the front. The DVD is placed in a flip open lid that sits on the top of the box and therefore you wouldn?t be able to put anything else on top of this system unlike many other DVD players. However the fact that this box is so tiny and thin I think you would not really want to put anything on top of it...
