A perfect companion for the Gaggia Classic
Review of Dualit EL60 by
duncanh
Advantages: Smart, efficient, perfect gring every time
Disadvantages: Not cheap, noisy
...We bought a Dualit grinder after seeing some indifferent reviews of the Gaggia one. We were looking for a reasonably priced but high quality grinder.
There seems to be three classes of electric grinder. The under £20 cheap ones (usually blade grinders), the £30-100 burr grinders, and the £100-400 commercial type grinders. The Dualit seems to be the best of the mid-range models We have been delighted with it.
The Gaggia Classic expresso machine will produce perfect crema every time if you grind your beans with the Dualit (on the finest setting).
We have also used it to regrind already ground coffee and this also works perfectly.
Like all Dualit products it is built to last. It also looks the part. In keeping with the Dualit style, it is not the most modern design, but it will still look smart in 20 years
An excellent appliance...

SLEEK STYLING FOR THE PERFECT GRIND
Review of Dualit 75002 by
A1ValuedOpinion
Advantages: Easy to use and good looking
Disadvantages: None - I even like the noise
...It was my birthday a week ago. I'd already chosen a pair of swanky sunglases that my husband bought me. He went to town with the kids and chose this machine as a present from them.
Not quite the ideal birthday present you may think. You'd be wrong. I'm a coffee lover. We've got a built in espresso machine so a grinder is a great accessory. We've already got a Dualit toaster and that has been fine, so he knew he was getting a quality product.
This grinder not only looks good on the worktop, it does a great job too. Operating it is literally child's play - my 7 and 5 old take great pleasure in demonstrating it to all visitors (I'm hoping the novelty will wear off soon as the idea is to grind it fresh each time you want a cup).
With the whirl of a wheel you can choose grade the size of grind you want from very coarse to very fine...

Who fancies burning their hands and face off? No?
Review of Dualit 84036 by
5Portions
Advantages: Makes coffee efficiently with no waste. Small footprint.
Disadvantages: Design seriously lacks numerous safety considerations; no on-off switch.
...Curious shortcomings.
Unlike the kettle of the same style, this thing has no on/off switch and no water level viewing window.
I consider both of these omissions to be downright dangerous!
If you overfill the kettle it can splutter boiling coffee out of the spout -and then the only way to stop it is to take it off the base, whilst it will still be spluttering. That is really dumb. I don't know what Dualit were thinking when they decided to put this into production as-is.
Even if you open the lid and look inside, you can't see how much liquid is in the thing as the coffee drum is located at the top.
I haven't yet worked-out how one is supposed to know when the jug is empty and therefore liable to burn-out.
The outside of the kettle gets boiling hot. It could be lined or dual-walled (especially at this price).
The design...

Requiem for a bean
Review of Dualit 968 by
Miskah
Advantages: quick, 2 perfect mugs of espresso or cappucino
Disadvantages: impossible to get hold of
...Something rather sad happened in my kitchen tonight (although to keep it in proportion to other world events it wasn’t that terrible) but my coffee machine choked on a very tasty and delicious grinding of Blue Sumatra beans. It’s been like a pet in my kitchen gurgling and hissing away for the last five years or so but now it’s gurgled its last. I stood by sadly as my man attempted resuscitation with a selection of tools but it wasn’t to be. It’s a great shame really as it was excellent at its job of preparing both espresso and cappuccino
The Dualit Espresso 968
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a very good looking, compact and speedy machine taking only a few minutes to brew. Its squat black and chrome exterior covered a heart full of steam and it sat on my work surface taking up about the same room as my cat (31 x 32 x 37 cm) although...
A grinder for cheaper than elsewhere
Review of Starbucks Barista Burr Coffee Grinder by
summi335
Advantages: Fresh ground coffee at a good price
Disadvantages: Loud, a bit messy and somewhat limited adjustment
...The Starbucks Barista grinder is a relabelled Dualit grinder which is offered at a reduced cost from Starbucks outlets. A grinder is essential for those who want fresh coffee. Coffee beans will last much better than ground coffee, and so grinding before use becomes the only way to ensure the freshest coffee.
A burr grinder like this one is essential for an even grind that doesn't burn the coffee. The coffee mills with spinning blades should be avoided at all costs, as they cannot evenly grind each bean and give consistent grounds. Added to their shortcomings of a mill, is that the speed of the blade heats and alters the coffee as it is ground. The burr grinders like the Barista crush the beans between grinding wheels and allow for each bean to be ground to an even consistency, without build-up of heat.
The machine has an easy load...
Dualit 72303 S/S PINK JUG Kettle
Review of Dualit 72303 S/S PINK JUG by
mints4merlin
Advantages: Looks fabulous, easy to use and quick to boil
Disadvantages: bit pricey
...Dualit is a household name, well it is around our home anyway. Our last 3 toasters have been Dualit and now we've got a sqanky little kettle too.
Reknowned for quality, poshness and durability, it's a brand also well known for being rather pricey and our cute little kettle is no exception. For being the hippest kitchen on campus we had to part with £40 that we could have happily invested in the beverage econonmy sector commonly associated with saturday night time spent. However we thought we'd be sensible young adults and invest it in something that might last a bit longer and not reault in such violent sickness the following morning.
Yes you read correctly it's a baby pink kettle. Not a very large one as only carries 1.5 litres - thats enough for about 8 cups of tea, hot chocolate, coffee or a cosy cuppa soup. The handle is also...
Hit me with your caffeine stick !
Review of Illy Espresso Medium Roasted Ground Coffee by
T21AMY
Advantages: Makes the perfect coffee and great packaging
Disadvantages: Bit more expensive
...Having recently purchased a Dualit espresso machine, we wanted to buy some good coffee to use with it. Being previously only filter coffee addicts, we decided to buy the Illy only on the basis that it came in a rather attractive silver storage tin which I thought would look nice on the kitchen shelf (god, how girly is that ?!?) and not based on any prior knowledge of the brand.
The good thing about espresso machines is that you can make latte and cappucino with them too - however, we weren't sure what this particular coffee would taste like in any of these forms and set to making the 'perfect coffee'.
SUCCESS !
Illy are the leaders in premium, espresso coffee and founded in Italy in 1933 so they know their stuff.
Illy is the best coffee I have ever tasted. In the past, buying a perfect latte with the right amount of frothy milk...
Tea Time in style
Review of Dualit 72302 S/S Cream JUG by
tentheagle1
Advantages: Looks great, Fast Boil,
Disadvantages: Poor Quality Build, Not Value for Money
...I bought this kettle to match my Dualit toaster reviewed previously. I was delighted with the build quality of the toaster so after paying around twice the price of a normal kettle, I expected the same, but Oh Boy was I wrong.
Available in Black, Cream, Light Blue Red & Barbie Pink (Why !) Made from polished stainless steel and is fitted with heatproof coloured handles. This Cordless Jug Kettle is fitted with a lime-scale filter & a water level indicator on both sides. This kettle boasts a concealed element so there is less build-up of lime scale which is a huge befit for me as I live in a hard water area.
Details
Output per hour: 22 litres
Loading (kW): 2.4
Dimensions 22 / 25 / 18 cm W,H,D (cm's)
The advertising claims a Rapid boil feature but it takes 3 full minutes to boil one litre of water (about three cups) which is more...
Dualit 20245
Review of Dualit 20245 by
tonychuckle69
Advantages: even toasting, aesthetically pleasing.
Disadvantages: comparitively expensive
...Having wanted a Dualit toaster for a while, i finally decided to ignore the comparitively high price and treat myself to the 20245 for 115 pounds. I eagerly anticipated my first slice of toast. When i did use the toaster i was not made to regret my choice of toaster. The Dualit is simple to use and thankfully does not include browning controls but simply relies on the user to determine their selected toast brownness which in my opinion is how it should be.
I was impressed with the resulting toast which was not dry and evenly toasted across the entire slice and on both sides. Aswell as being very impressed with this toasters technical and cooking perfomance i also enjoy its asthetic qualities. The chrome body of the Dualit looks classy and not too vulgre. It really is as pleasent to look at as a toaster could be and graces my kitchen...
