Wouldn't recommend the dualit toaster

Advantages: Timer seemed like a good idea
Disadvantages: Timer broke, feet broke, expensive

...I bought this toaster from john lewis a few years ago. It cost around £140 at the time. The first thing that broke was one of the feet, which was annoying but not a huge issue. The toaster has a timer rather than a pop up device, you chose how long you want to toast for and then it runs until then. You push up the toast your self. Not being a 'toasting genius' everyone in the family frequently pushed the timer back further than what was needed. In which case rather than leaving it to run it was common just to move the timer forward to the end. This broke the timer. After about a year the timer would 'stick' so the time would never end, and you basically risked burning down the house unless you were standing right in front of it ready to keep moving it on. The toaster allows you to chose from one, two, or four of the spaces to heat...

My "Grown-up" Toaster!

...Don't get me wrong, I'm not normally in the habit of spending more on a toaster than I need to. Over the past fourteen years since I left home, I have owned a total of six toasters before this one, and every single one was a budget version from one of the supermarkets. Advantages: even toasting, aesthetically pleasing.
Disadvantages: comparitively expensive

...Having wanted a Dualit toaster for a while, i finally decided to ignore the comparitively high price and treat myself to the 20245 for 115 pounds. I eagerly anticipated my first slice of toast. When i did use the toaster i was not made to regret my choice of toaster. The Dualit is simple to use and thankfully does not include browning controls but simply relies on the user to determine their selected toast brownness which in my opinion is how it should be. I was impressed with the resulting toast which was not dry and evenly toasted across the entire slice and on both sides. Aswell as being very impressed with this toasters technical and cooking perfomance i also enjoy its asthetic qualities. The chrome body of the Dualit looks classy and not too vulgre. It really is as pleasent to look at as a toaster could be and graces my kitchen...

I bought one for my sister for her birthday last year, and she kindly returned the favour and bought me one for Christmas. I have the 2 slot combi, no bells or whistles, in pillar box red (not a colour I would have chosen myself, but it looks fab in my kitchen and all my friends are obviously jealous!). What can I say.
