From the internationally bestselling author of London and Sarum -- a magnificent epic about love and war, family life and political intrigue in Ireland over the course of seventeen centuries. Like the novels of James Michener, The Princes of Ireland brilliantly interweaves engrossing fiction and well-researched fact to capture the essence of a place. Edward Rutherfurd has introduced millions of readers to the human dramas that are the lifeblood of history. From his first bestseller, Sarum , to the #1 bestseller London , he has captivated audiences with gripping narratives that follow the fortunes of several fictional families down through the ages. The Princes of Ireland , a sweeping panorama steeped in the tragedy and glory that is Ireland, epitomizes the power and richness of Rutherfurdâ?TMs storytelling magic. The saga begins in pre-Christian Ireland with a clever refashioning of the legend of Cuchulainn, and culminates in the... ... less

A Few Days in Dublin.
Advantages: Plenty to see and do.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive - but not over the top for a capital city.
...Although I have never been to Ireland before, I was looking forward to going as two of my literary favourites where from there ? Oscar Wilde and W.B. Yeats. I did know that I wanted to go on the literary tour, but other than that was open to ideas.
We were going to be visiting the Parliament while we were there ? a friend had a family friend who was a member and they kindly arranged it for us...

DUBLIN - COCKLES AND MUSSELS AS WELL AS GUINNESS
Advantages: Excellent sightseeing, variety, history, decent Guinness
Disadvantages: Weather can be typically British - i.e. can rain a lot

THE FLIGHT
We looked at Ryanair and they were doing flights from Bristol Airport to Dublin for £9.99 per person per flight...

...Dublin
Since I'm here to travel, I thought that I should actually write about travelling instead of eating and drinking. We went to Dublin in January this year, and had a fantastic time.
Our flights cost £55 each return (incl. taxes) from Heathrow to Dublin on Aer Lingus. We booked online - www.aerlingus.com. The flights themselves were pretty good, with no delays and friendly service...
