Heart of Dublin

Advantages: welcoming, clean, central
Disadvantages: restaurant price

...As mentioned in my last review, I was recently on a trip to Dublin. The main part of my holiday apart from experiencing the city is to me the accommodation. I have been to many hotels but not all I would return to although I have to say I cannot fault the Jury's Inn Parnell Street. A hotel is of course where I stay and want to be in a good location. I have heard of Jury's Inn's because I know where I live in Edinburgh they have them and I have heard positive things about them. Only going away for a short break I was looking for something quite cheap but not to the extent of hostel cheap. The rating for this hotel was 3 stars which is what I will always start at and no lower. The website was where I booked it and everything was easy to navigate. Going with friends I wanted a triple and it asks if you want three single beds or a double...

Review of Jurys Inn Parnell Street, Dublin

INDULGENCE IN DUBLIN...........

Advantages: Luxurious surroundings.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive.

...It would appear that the information Ciao has on the header for this hotel is a few years out of date....... The Westbury is a five star hotel and is part of the Jurys Doyle group of hotels. It's also one of a select number of hotels within the collection of Leading Hotels of the World. Jurys Doyle state that they are dedicated to providing prime city centre locations and this hotel is most certainly in a prime central Dublin location - it's yards from the shopping heaven of Grafton Street. °°´´´´´´°°°°´´´´´´°°°°´´´´´´°°°°´´´´´´°° The address and contact details for the Westbury are: www.lhw.com/property.aspx?propertyid=75&Ext=Gwstbr&gclid=COfRrYG22Y kCFRkZgodaB7waQ www.jurys-dublin-hotels.com/thewestburydublin The Westbury Grafton Street Dublin 2, Ireland Tel: (353-1) 679-1122 Fax: (353-1) 679...

Bewleys Hotel Dublin

Advantages: Near To Airport, Price
Disadvantages: None?

...I stayed at the Bewleys Hotel once before flying out from Dublin Airport, its a great location if you chose to fly from Dublin and live quite far away from it. The double room we stayed in cost around 69 euros for one night, this is reasonable when you look at it from the point of view that travelling to the airport will be much easier the day after and also that your holiday begins a day earlier by staying there. The room was clean and tidy and quite modernly decorated, there were two large (well big enough) double beds in the twin room and a small sitting area, the bathroom was clean and had a shower and a bath in it and had a few little treats like shower gel and a small sewing kit in it which I always like when I am staying in a hotel. There was a decent sized tv in the room that had a good range of channels that catered...

Stay @ the West-in Dublin

Advantages: Luxurious and fantastic service
Disadvantages: Expensive

...The Westin Hotel Dublin At College Green Dublin 2 Ireland Phone (353)(1) 645 1000 Fax (353)(1) 645 1234 5 Star Hotel ***** Westin hotels are part of the larger Starwood hotel family, including brands such as Sheraton, Four Points, W Hotels, St Regis, and the recent acquisition of Le Meridien. The Westin brand is always a blend of the modern, whilst allowing a certain amount of tradition, as is evident at The Westin in Dublin. I have, for many years, been meaning to stay here on a jaunt to Dublin and finally did it in September 2005, which is when and where I experienced my first "black velvet" - Guinness and Champagne ... lovely jubbly as Derek Trotter would say! Ideally located next to Trinity College in the centre of Dublin, the famous Grafton Street is a very short walk, as is the infamous Temple Bar...

Great Dublin Hotel

Advantages: Excellent Location, Nice Rooms
Disadvantages: Possibly Noisy

...I have now been to Dublin twice and both times i have stayed at Blooms Hotel as i was so impressed with it the first time. Blooms is a 3-star Hotel. LOCATION Firstly the location of Blooms is perfect for a nice weekend in Dublin. It is located in Angelsea Street which is in the Temple Bar area which means that within a few hundred yards you have a large selection of bars and restaurants which is perfect. Also within a ten minute walk is Grafton Street which is the main shopping area of Dublin. STAFF As soon as you enter the reception area of Blooms Hotel you are greeted by the friendly staff who are very nice and helpfull. They have either been very well trained or are naturally pleasant and willing to help. The staff will also give you a wake-up call in the morning if you require one, a service which we used to make sure...

In Dubliners Fair City

Advantages: Good reading
Disadvantages: Using references a fair bit.

...Dubliners is a collection of short stories by James Joyce, 15 in all, written about the people and places in Dublin.(Oddly enough) James Joyce (1882-1941) was born in Dublin to a middle class catholic family, whose social and economic status declined during Joyce's youth and adolescence. "Dubliners" Joyce himself remarked, was meant to reveal the paralysis at the heart of Irish society. Each of the 15 stories deals with a different aspect of Dublin life. Joyce claimed there was a structural progression followed, from childhood to adolescence through to adulthood and private life. (Though this is disputed by some) If you know little about Joyce, as I did, this is an excellent place to start finding out. I wasn't really going to bother, I thought until my wife collected enough i Points to afford a trip to Dublin. The ferry we went...

Dublin Airport

Advantages: Good Transport Links, Main Airport into Ireland, Easy to find your way around
Disadvantages: Lack of Shops,

...Dublin Airport is located approximately 6 miles north Of Dublin and can be easily accessed via taxi, train, or coach. The airport is located near the M50 and M1 Motorways, I travelled to dublin with Ryan Air which was a troublefree flight landing in on time. Upon arrival at Dublin you go straight to the baggage reclaim area which is clearly signed. The baggage hall is relatively small and there were half a dozen conveyors with luggage from all the latest arrivals passing through. Your flight number is displayed on the screen along with the conveyor belt number to enable you to locate your luggage. Once you have claimed your luggage you progress onwards to customs where there are three channels, red, green and blue. Blue Channels should be used by passengers arriving from an EU Country with nothing to declare. Green...

Travelodge (not quite next to) Dublin Airport Ballymun

Advantages: cheap, clean, comfortable, what you would expect
Disadvantages: not that close to the airport, receptionist ignored us

...A couple of weekends ago my boyfriend and I went to a wedding in Ireland. We were going to arrive late at night so I thought it was best if we stayed in a hotel near the airport on the night we arrived, and then go on to our final destination on the following morning. I searched on Lastminute.com and found the ?Travelodge Dublin Airport Ballymun?. It was a 3* hotel and on lastminute cost a mere £41.52 for a double room, but the best part was that (I thought) it was close to the airport. When we arrived it seems that there were no shuttle buses running to the hotel, so we jumped in a taxi thinking that the hotel wasn?t too far away.. then we started driving, and driving and driving. There are a lot of road works going on around Dublin airport so the taxi driver couldn?t take the closest exit to go to the hotel, so we ended up paying ?20...

Dublin Hilton deserves a toast in Guinness

Advantages: Excellent Dublin base with good service
Disadvantages: None really

...Booking: For the second day of my short, last-minute trip to Dublin, I really needed to be in the centre of the city as I had a lot of stuff to do and so it made sense to complete my quest to stay in 3 Hilton hotels during December and January and claim my free £50 Visa card as a reward, by staying at the Hilton Hotel Dublin: http://www1.hilton.com/enUS/hi/hotel/DUBDUHN-Hilton-Dublin-hotel/index.do As usual I went into the Hilton website - http://hhonors.hilton.com via Quidco in order to get my 6% cashback. I do recommend becoming a member of HiltonHonors because of the occasional little perks it can give you, please read further for more details. My booking went through OK and speedily as usual, and I was pleased to see that despite booking only 2 days before arrival, I was able to bag a Queen-size bedded room...
