Delightful Dudley

Advantages: Witty, funny, and brilliantly performed
Disadvantages: Too short and maybe a touch TOO funny

...It's very difficult to make an unbiased report of any kind on music and art - especially when you are a real fan. This is my dilemma as a fan of Dudley Moore. Unfortunately, I have now lost one of my lifelong musical ambitions which would have been to see him play live in London performing some of his extensive classical repertoire. Dudley Moore is well known as a comedian (Beyond the Fringe, Pete and Dud, Derek and Clive and so on), and as an actor (Bedazzled, Arthur etc). He is less well known as a first class musician. Dudley was, in fact, a highly respected jazz musician, and also a classical performer. Critically, his classical performances were very highly renowned. Lots to do at Dudley Zoo!

Advantages: Great day out for the family with lots to see
Disadvantages: Looks a little rundown

...Dudley Zoo first opened in 1937, and now stretches over 40 acres. The zoo is located a short walk from Dudley town centre (located in the West Midlands), and is not far at all from the bus station. There is no train station in Dudley but there are buses that run to and from many different places in the West Midlands located near by, including Birmingham and Wolverhampton. There is also a small car park next door to the zoo. Located on a hill, the castle is the remains of what was once a great building. The zoo is built around the castle and you automatically get free access to the castle upon entering the zoo. As it is located on a hill, there are some steep ramps and climbs in places which will make it difficult for wheelchair users to access. I have long been a fan of Irish music, and a fan of protest songs, from John Lennon to The Clash, so it is fair to say that I have a fair collection of Irish protest music, some of which has a distinctly anti-British feel. Before anyone slates me for writing a review of well known IRA sympathisers' songs, many of which are very supportive of the IRA cause, let me say this. Like it or not, there has been a conflict between the British and Irish for hundreds of years, and the troubles of the 70's and 80's were not new. ...The latest book to head my way is none other than 'RSPV', written by author Tara Moore. Now when I first saw the book I had no idea what it was going to be like. I had never heard of Tara Moore before so her style was going to be completely new to me. However, the cover of the book itself is incredibly attractive. All we see is the neck and lower face of a woman, with a large glittering necklace around her neck. Now for ages I thought this read 'RSUP', and it wasn't until I went to find out more about the author before reading did I realise that this necklace actually read 'RSVP'. ...Spike Dudley ; Commonly referred to as " Little " Spike Dudley - and rightly so as they are clearly mentioning his size in that statement, the reason? he is around 5'5 and 150 pounds (or as the commentators say " a buck 50 ") and so he does not have the look of a wrestler nor does he have the strength but he sure has the athleticism and heart of a wrestler. He does moves which quite frankly I at least; find hard to believe - such as where he is thrown around like a rag doll. Such as, when he has come into the WWF I have seen him feud with people such as Bubba Ray and D-Von who are his " half brothers " a.k.a The Dudley Boyz who are table driven maniacs who like to put Spike through the wood at unbelievable velocity. Dudley Zoo and its amazing Animals

Advantages: great place to see the animals you always dreamed of

...Dudley Zoo, Well were do I start, I first went to Dudley as a teenager with a group of friends on a trip from our local youth club, were although we thought it was going to be a bit boring, we discovered it was a great and fascinating place, I have since returned a few times with my children, as little ones and when they were teenagers, and they have enjoyed it every time, Although I'm not overly fond of the idea of kept wildlife, I do understand that some times there is no alternative, if we wish to aid in preserving there future. And nobody does it better than Dudley. It is home to some of the Worlds most rare and exotic creatures, especially endangered species such as Asiatic lions, Sumatran tigers, lemurs, penguins, chimps and orang-utans. Dudley Zoological Gardens... an insider's POV

Advantages: More than you think!
Disadvantages: quite an expencive day out

...allows guests to get right up close, and even touch the lemurs, who quite happily interact wih the visitors. Also, just opened is a Wallaby walk-through. There are some empty enclosures at the zoo, but this is simpley becuase the 'curved concrete' enclosures are listed buildings and cannot be altered. The zoo provides a great day out for the family as there is always alot going on throughout the day, especially durng the school holidays. For the kids there is face painting, a funfair, an adventure playground and an activity centre. Also, throughout the day all guests can see the animals being fed, doing tricks and they can also listen to talks about the animals given by Dr Dudley himself. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging.
