...Dudley Zoo first opened in 1937, and now stretches over 40 acres. The zoo is located a short walk from Dudley town centre (located in the West Midlands), and is not far at all from the bus station. There is no train station in Dudley but there are buses that run to and from many different places in the West Midlands located near by, including Birmingham and Wolverhampton. There is also a small car park next door to the zoo. Located on a hill, the castle is the remains of what was once a great building. The zoo is built around the castle and you automatically get free access to the castle upon entering the zoo. As it is located on a hill, there are some steep ramps and climbs in places which will make it difficult for wheelchair users to access. Ramage - the first of many

Advantages: Good read and introduction to several characters in the series
Disadvantages: Less action and detail than subsequent books

...Less well known than CS Forester (Hornblower) or Patrick O'Brien (Jack Aubrey/Master and Commander), Dudley Pope is one of the finest writers of sea faring in Napoleonic times that I have ever read, though perhaps less detailed than the other authors mentioned it does make for an easier read, where characters develop over time. Ramage is the first of a series of 15 or so books all based around the life of Lord Ramage, fighting on board a number of His Majesty's ships in the late 18th Century and early 19th Century. This book introduces us to Nicholas Ramage a lowly Lieutenant, and son of a former admiral. Advantages: Great informative read

...The Oxford Dictionary of Popes is basically an encyclopaedic listing of all Popes of the Roman Catholic Church. It begins with Saint Peter and progresses in very fine style all the way through to Pope Benedict XVI. It is very laid out and it is obvious that the compilers and authors (J. N. D. Kelly, with new material from Michael Walsh) have really got to grips with a very complex subject matter and field of research. Some of the popes have relatively huge sections devoted to them, others have quite modest sections. Hardly more than a paragraph or two in some instances, but this is due to the fact that some popes very little is known about them, or what works, great or more modest, they might have accomplished, whilst serving as pope. Not only does the book list "legitimate" popes, it also lists what are known as "antipopes...

Delightful Dudley

Advantages: Witty, funny, and brilliantly performed

...Spike Dudley ; Commonly referred to as " Little " Spike Dudley - and rightly so as they are clearly mentioning his size in that statement, the reason? he is around 5'5 and 150 pounds (or as the commentators say " a buck 50 ") and so he does not have the look of a wrestler nor does he have the strength but he sure has the athleticism and heart of a wrestler. He does moves which quite frankly I at least; find hard to believe - such as where he is thrown around like a rag doll. Such as, when he has come into the WWF I have seen him feud with people such as Bubba Ray and D-Von who are his " half brothers " a.k.a The Dudley Boyz who are table driven maniacs who like to put Spike through the wood at unbelievable velocity. Dudley Zoo and its amazing Animals

Advantages: great place to see the animals you always dreamed of

...Dudley Zoo, Well were do I start, I first went to Dudley as a teenager with a group of friends on a trip from our local youth club, were although we thought it was going to be a bit boring, we discovered it was a great and fascinating place, I have since returned a few times with my children, as little ones and when they were teenagers, and they have enjoyed it every time, Although I'm not overly fond of the idea of kept wildlife, I do understand that some times there is no alternative, if we wish to aid in preserving there future. And nobody does it better than Dudley. It is home to some of the Worlds most rare and exotic creatures, especially endangered species such as Asiatic lions, Sumatran tigers, lemurs, penguins, chimps and orang-utans. Dudley Zoological Gardens... an insider's POV

Advantages: More than you think!
Disadvantages: quite an expencive day out

...allows guests to get right up close, and even touch the lemurs, who quite happily interact wih the visitors. Also, just opened is a Wallaby walk-through. There are some empty enclosures at the zoo, but this is simpley becuase the 'curved concrete' enclosures are listed buildings and cannot be altered. The zoo provides a great day out for the family as there is always alot going on throughout the day, especially durng the school holidays. For the kids there is face painting, a funfair, an adventure playground and an activity centre. Also, throughout the day all guests can see the animals being fed, doing tricks and they can also listen to talks about the animals given by Dr Dudley himself. Faustus Dines With The Pope

Advantages: Good, easy to read Elizabethan play
Disadvantages: Very short

...The only reason I actually read Doctor Faustus is because it is required reading for the course I am doing. At first I didn't think it would be very good reading, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a short play written by the Elizabethan writer Christopher Marlowe. The play itself was not performed until after Marlowe's death and it was considered by the Catholic Church to be blasphemous. Most people will know the story, or at least know of Faust. Doctor Faustus, in the story, is a brilliantly clever German doctor who sells his soul to the devil for power and knowledge. He seeks the ability to conjure up what he wants by using magic. There are scenes portraying Lucifer, arguing evil and good angels, the Seven Deadly Sins and Faustus teasing the Pope and calling up the spirit of Alexander the Great. These are very powerful scenes...
