Review of Duplex (DVD)

Just don't duplex!

Advantages: Good printing
Disadvantages: Bad smudging when printing both sides.

...In a lot of respects, this is a good printer: quite quick, very clear printing, takes 160 gsm card, works without Windows. It does have paper feeding problems, though in my experience not as bad as described by aaxxaa's Nightmare Guide below. For me, the drawback is that it's quite unsuited to printing on both sides of the paper (duplexing). Although the manual recommends it as a means of saving paper and the environment, the printouts are no good because toner smudges are caused at the top of the reverse sides. This is due to toner rubbing off the previous sheet as it's dragged through the feeder. There is apparently no cure for this other than to feed single sheets so that it can't happen. No solution, unfortunately, because the feed isn't good enough - single sheets tend to come out skewed....

Review of HP LaserJet 6L

Good little printer

Advantages: small, easy, cheap, good quality (for a col. laser)
Disadvantages: smallish paper tray

...Good little colour printer! Network ready, works well with my Mac and PC over ethernet. Installed easily on both. Initial toner cartridges are not full capacity, but mine ran to around 950 pages when black, followed shortly but magenta and cyan ran out. Tip for using this printer: switch on the supplies warning override. It was telling me to replace toner at around 600 pages, I got 350 pages more before needing too! Use: using this for short run direct mail and flyers, lots of pictures and colour. With Edge Control set to light this is just fine. Not quite as smooth as the commercial printer I use for digital but acceptable, and we're promoting photography services mainly. Prints card up to 220gsm OK. Also duplexes well (work and turn). In first 1000 pages it needed 1 calibration (diy through the printer menu). Paper...

The reliable HP LaserJet 4250dtn

Advantages: Networkable double sided printing with a small footprint
Disadvantages: There isnt one, I like this printer.

...This is a great workhorse printer from H.P. its fast with clear, crisp print results, the extra paper tray is useful for having plain and letter headed paper ready to print, or even different sizes. Easily networkable, and the duplex is fast without paper jams which seems to happen often on other machines I've used. This machine has a small footprint so if space is at a premium in your office but the workload is high, this might be the printer for you. Hewlett Packard make good reliable printers in general and if the LJ4250dtn develops any faults H.P. parts are cheaper and more easily available than most. Value for money and a real work horse

Advantages: Refillable toner cartridges, economy ink setting

...We have been using a Samsung ML1510 for club printing for approximately five years. That printer is still going strong and is now with the current club secretary. So judging by that experience I decided to buy a ML2010 as I anticipate a lot of printing for my research project. It was excellent value for money. I bought it from Ebuyer; I ordered it online at 4.30pm and the printer had arrived by 8.30am the next morning. The main advantage of Samsung printers is that the toner cartridges are so easy to refill, saving the extortionate amount for a new cartridge every time. The afore mentioned ML1510 has run on refills the whole time making it extremely economical to run. Best Holiday Inn in London

Advantages: London on your doorstep

...I stay in this hotel 4 times a year and can highly recommend it. Although it is a holiday inn, it is relatively small and in a lovely old building. It has a very appealing garden terrace which backs on to the grounds of a nearby convent and it is very pleasant and peaceful to sit outside. The rooms are of a very nice standard - I have stayed in most types, from standard to the duplex suite and find the executive rooms to be the most comfartable. When booking, definitely request one facing the garden to the back - they are much quieter. The staff here are very friendly and always remember me which I think is nice, considering how many people pass through their doors. The food is good enough and the bar is comfortable. Value for Money printer

...I wanted to buy a decent printer which doesnt cost a lot and has low running cost. So i searched around on the net. Found some good reviews for this one. Bought mine from the printerland website. arrived in a couple of days. Installation took practically no time at all. But that was on Windows XP. It does come with a Vista driver CD and printer software. But there is no printer cable included. Also the starting cartridge was a 1000 page one. The main advantage is the printer cartridge can be refilled easily without much hassle and its much cheaper than buying new toner cartridges. It also has a toner saver mode Its supports duplex printing ( printing on both sides of the paper) but its not automatic. Can't actually expect at this price. Hope this review helps.
