...I bought this machine just before my wedding in 2006. I was looking for a budget machine as I did not want to put the big money in for a sony or some other name brand. I found the liteon for 135 dollars at walmart, 20 dollars more then a durabrand and a magnavox but I knew lite-on, it was the brand of my computers burner. I bought the machine and right after getting it home I was already impressed, the ease of set up was astonishing. I quickly ran my digital cable box through the machine, ran the machine to my tv using component cables, and attached my dvd player and vcr to the machine using component cables and regular RCA cables. Other then the component in, and component out as well as the coax in and out and the rca in and out all on the back the machine also has a usb in and rca in on the front which I use for moving content... Advantages: Reliable, cheap, anti skip system

...The Durabrand CD855 was a gift to me and like all gifts I appreciate them ... I mean who doesn't right. When I first saw it I was immediately impressed with the look and slim sleek design of the modal but I have learnt the hard way never to judge a book by its cover. Now with this CD player it is a bit old but still I think it is a good product to use even today. In the past my CD players either skip when I am running or there durability isn't really good. But for me personally I haven't found this to be the case with this modal. I usually go running with this is my pocket and I found it very steady and I feel very comfortable with it in my pocket. The image it produces shouldn't be expected by the buyer to be excellent, however, it is viewable and understandable. The DVD player doesn't effect the movies sound quality and doesn't have as many features on as other more expensive DVD players however, it does it's job. A DVD player is for playing DVD's and watching movies on your television. Although it has the ability to play a cd, a DVD player is not a cd player and the buyer should not expect any DVD players to play a cd. It's in the name what it plays. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format. Another plus to this format is that it saves space on disks as it compresses movies into smaller file sizes without compromising... Read review

For £189 you get a multi region player with excellent picture and sound quality. Compared to some DVD players at double the price this is just as good. What DVD magazine gave this top marks a few months ago. There may be less features than a normal priced player, but that is more than compensated by the price. ...The Alba 103 DVD is brilliant value for money. This player has many of features which would only be previoulsy expected on players twice the price. The Alba 103 retails for around £150 from Toys R Us and Argos. The player has the ability to play multi region DVD's. This means the latest titles from America can be played before they are released in the UK, this is a major bonus, and especially on a machine this price. The Sound and Picture quality are good, but not up to the standard of some of the more expensive players, but it does the job. And for this price, who can complain!... Read review
