...A well designed, high quality affordable laptop, the HP pavilion dv5 doesn't fail to please in looks, performance or price. In terms of look and design, flashy is a good word for it. It has a glossy black case which shines in the light, then you open it. The keyboard-surround is split horizontally: the bottom half is very light silver with a white check pattern, and the upper half perforated silver plastic. Around the edge of the laptop, there is a chrome-effect strip which sparkles and shimmers. Even the mouse pad has a finish that is so reflective you can see your face in it. This is the 'bling-bling' of the laptop world. It also feels pretty solid, I don't think you would be able to break it easily and I have faith in it's durability and robustness. It is also quite light, weighing 2.65kg, not bad for a laptop it's size. Ok...

Disadvantages: Doesn't play blu-ray

...An above average DVD player. It can play pretty much every disk time apart from blu-ray. It can play DVD+RW/+R, CD,DVD-RW/-R, Video CDs and CD-R/-RW . It can also play video from files and supports MP3, DivX, JPEG and WMA and supports mass storage devices from which you can upload and play these files. It can also record video onto a variety of disks. Audio output is pretty good too and doesn't really cause a problem. The DVD was easy to set up, and, although I feel I'm wearing this joke thin now, once again there was no need to read those dreaded instructions. The design is pretty good, the front display panel might present a bit of a problem for the visually challenged (being very small) But it is visually pleasing and easily fits into an average cabinet. ...I used a TX DX 777 Onkyo WRAT receiver and a set of Vandersteen 1 2 way floor standing speakers and a Samsung LCD T4871F TV. The audio connection was a Toslink and the video HDMI both low priced parts. My system is set up for surround sound and my speaker levels and placement have been set by using a sound pressure meter and distance measurements used in the DX777. This player is Brutal in it's accurate reproduction of video and cd music. If you put in a so so DVD this player will show you just how so so it is, I do not care what resolution you set it at. The better the quality of the DVD the better the picture will be. I found it to be the same with audio. My bargin CDs sounded just that way, bargin basement, but put in a DDD CD and you could hear the difference. The sound stage is fantastic. The speaker no longer exshist, the music...

...Pioneer DV-600AV was interesting for me because it has possibility to play DVD-Audio and SACD and it has got integrated decoder with analog output for 5.1. Extra interesting is the quality of sound which some DVD players are having bad quality. Quality of sound was pretty good with nice serve of acustic which i wasnt able to heat on my older players. I/O Back side includes HDMI, component Video, S-video, audio 5.1, scart, optic and koaxial output.On the front panel is placed conector USB 1.1 for USB devices. There should be more conectors, but on the other hand we shall be glad that none of the important connectors is missing. Extern USB devices are not supported as manufacturer has written. Pioneer DV525 or DV535

Advantages: Cheap, good picture and sound, multi region(if chipped),Plays all CD's

...I couldnt find a place to write about the Pioneer DV-535, but as the only difference between the two models is that the DV-535 is black and the DV-525 is silver & doesn't have an optical out. This seemed as good a place as any. I have read some reviews on this site and others, and like most people did a fair bit of research on forums etc. This is a very good DVD player for the money. I brought a multi region one from richer sounds for £207 including 3 years warranty. It is reasonably straight forward to set up and plays cd's (both shop bought and those i have ripped on the computer). The remote is easy to understand and the whole thing is a cinch to set up. ...This notebook really stood out from many of the others I have owned. It has an incredible design and really looks cool, I am proud to use this in public. I have also found it very easy to transport being about the right size to fit into an average bag and weighing around 7.57 pounds. It runs on windows vista, something I was in two minds about when I bought the notepad. One the one hand, windows vista is a very fast, very efficient operating system. On the other hand it won't support alot of old software, so keep that in mind if you plan on buying this notebook. It has 4 USB ports, a full size keyboard with a numeric pad. Mustek DV 3500 Video Camera

Disadvantages: too much to detail

...I bought this used but practically brand new. I could video but the playback only lasts 2 seconds and the entire camera shuts off, you have to turn the camera back on in order to either take pictures or use the video again. according to the directions, using the camera other features is supposed to be easy, but the directions I find are misleading. The camera is extremely difficult to figure out even by reading the directions many times over and over. The still picture camera works but only in sunlight areas and not indoors. I find it extremely frustrating to work. In my opinion this camera is not worth the money I paid for it. In order to see the entirety of the video I did, i can only review it when I hook it up to the computer by the USB port....
