The image it produces shouldn't be expected by the buyer to be excellent, however, it is viewable and understandable. The DVD player doesn't effect the movies sound quality and doesn't have as many features on as other more expensive DVD players however, it does it's job. A DVD player is for playing DVD's and watching movies on your television. Although it has the ability to play a cd, a DVD player is not a cd player and the buyer should not expect any DVD players to play a cd. It's in the name what it plays. ...This is the best dvd set I've ever bought and I got the blu ray edition. Each dvd is on a topic about some landscape/water part of the earth and they use the best examples to show (ex: biggest cave, largest reef, etc.) You feel like each topic can actually be a 2 hour movie by itself, but they do a great job of picking the best images into each dvd. The only exception is the first dvd, which is a preview of all the other topics. It gathers the best parts of each other dvd and wets your appetite for them. If you own the complete set, you will see everything in the first dvd from the other ones. If you are a nature/travel lover, this is a must own dvd set. If you have the blu ray edition, it's even better. Worth the money for sure.... Read review

...This player is outstanding it has converted me a mere woman to the benefits of DVD & suround sound TV. I had always tolerated my husbands need for the best TV & audio equipment, but this got me watching James Bond, I hate James Bond, just for the effects and the picture quality. We started with a Matsui DVD within a week the DVD player was faulty and exchanged. We then changed one DVD 7 times because it played most other DVD's ok we thought it was the DVD not the player. When the store got fed up of changing the DVD we took the DVD to a local TV & audio shop and asked them to check the DVD it played on all there DVD players. ...With the news of the Sony PS2 launch in October, some magazines and newspapers are talking of the end of standalone DVD players. After all, if you can have a top games console with DVD capabilities for £300, why spend £200-£500 on a box that just plays DVD's? However, this type of thinking is totally stupid. Sure, the DVD option on the PS2 is very useful, and will be used by many buyers, but the quality of the sound and images is nothing like even the cheapest DVD players. The original Playstation played CD's, but people didn't throw away their CD players for the simple reason that the Playstation playback was pretty poor. Yes, people will play DVD's on their PS2's, but standalone DVD players will continue to sell well.... Read review

...The Wharfedale DVD 750 has, a im sure alot of you know, the capability to play DVD imports from any other country in the world, including the USA. To those of you who do not understand what this means, film producers decided to encode DVD's so you would not be able to run a UK (region 2) DVD on a US (region 1) DVD player, and obviously, the problem arises for us Brits when you reverse the problem. However, by simply having the disc tray on your Wharfedale ejected and pressing 0,1,2,3 on your DVD remote, the player is set to play imported films. I find this feature completely essential now as i have imported my last two DVD's. Advantages of getting import DVD's imclude better special features often, getting films before they are out over here (I got Fight Club before it has come out to buy over here, and The Green Mile before it has even...
