Advantages: Enjoyable, very romantic, an easy watch

...I've been wanting to see 27 Dresses for quite a long time, but have felt a bit put off by the mixed reviews I have read and heard about it. But I do love the romantic movie genre so I was quite sure I would actually like this film, so last night I persuaded my fiance to sit down and watch it with me. He wasn't overly keen on seeing it but I think we're both glad that we gave it a go! 27 Dresses tells the story of Jane Nichols, the woman who seems always to be the bridesmaid and never the bride. Jane has been a bridesmaid for 27 of her friends, wearing some truly awful dresses, and works hard for her boss George at a magazine. Jane's sister Tess reappears wite news of her own, causing Jane to re-evaluate her love life with a little help from newspaper columnist Kevin... I thought this movie was going to be incredibly soppy...

...27 Dresses is a 2008 romantic comedy, starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden, and was directed by Anne Fletcher. Jane has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride, she?s obsessed with weddings and has in fact been a bridesmaid 27 times, hence the title of the film. When she?s attending two different weddings on the same night, she bumps into Kevin, a cynic who manages to write the most romantic weddings at the same time. At the same time, she?s hopelessly in love with her boss, then her sister arrives back in town and somehow is engaged to her boss within the month. Jane is shocked, how will she ever win over George now? And how will things go with Kevin? What will her 28th dress be? The cast is good, but nothing special. Katherine Heigl plays Jane, the main character in the film who?s looking for love but finds it somewhere...

27 Dresses - A predictable chick flick

Disadvantages: Not a laugh out loud comedy, predictable.

...I watched this film last night after renting it from Lovefilm.com. A number of people I knew who had seen it had suggested that it was very funny and worth watching, so I thought I would get in on the act ans see what all the fuss was about. 27 Dresses is a romantic comedy which is directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. Mckenna was also screenwriter for the Devil Wears Prada, which led me to expect an equally good film in 27 Dresses. The film has a 12A rating and was released in January 2008. DVD S-27 the best a man can get

Advantages: looks good, great picture and sound playback, slimmline, easy to use
Disadvantages: no obvious disadvantages

...I have owned my Panasonic DVD S-27 now since late 2004 after a number of magazines rated it as a good quality entry level player and I liked the design and range of features it offered for what was at the time a reasonable price (£149.99). Being rather slimline for DVD players of its time, the front loading unit is only 5.5cm high and 43cm in width, which meant that it could sit on top of my TV within the cabinet without blocking the remote control sensors. I was mightily pleased with the performance, picture quality and sound that came when playing DVDs through the S-27 but my enjoyment was multiplied when I upgraded my TV to a Plasma LCD with surround sound. At the recommendation of a friend from work I tried running DVD's through my XBOX 360 as he had mentioned the picture quality to be much better than his own DVD player...

Always the Bridesmaid, Ever the Bride?

Advantages: Easy viewing, good fun story, good cast
Disadvantages: Very predictable

...job of setting the mood of the film. I did enjoy the variety of weddings which we were treated to and I liked how diverse and different they all were. I though they all looked very authentic and real. I did find it was amusing in the film when we got to see all of Jane?s 27 dresses and I did find I was chuckling at some of them. I only thank god that I was never subjected to wearing any of these dresses! The DVD which we have does have some bonus material which includes:- Deleted Scenes Four Featurettes The Wedding Party You?ll Never Wear That Again Jane?s World The Running of the Brides I am not one for watching bonus material so I cannot make comment on if they are any good or worth a watch. The running time of this film is 106 minutes which I found to be a very good length and the certificate is a 12 and I did find...

Always, always, always the bridesmaid

...It was with dread, fear and trepidation that I succumbed and sat down with my wife the other night to watch one of the latest romcoms to achieve success: 27 Dresses. And yes, you're right, there are no surprises. It follows pretty much the mould of many romcoms before it, with love and facing up to truth and sticking up for yourself and following your heart and all that rubbish coming out of every scene. It's sickening in places, and my wife had at the very least a slight smile on her face throughout. You see, the film is about weddings, and being a bridesmaid, and never a bride, which is essentially what Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) always does. A Blushing Bride

Advantages: Funny, Clever, Witty. Good Performances
Disadvantages: Takes a bit of suspension of disbelief

...Jane loves weddings, infact she loves them so much that she has been a bridesmaid in twenty seven of them! She has the planning and execution down to a perfect art yet has failed to walk down the aisle herself, because she is waiting for her boss George, who is unknowingly the love of her life, to finally realise that she is the one for him. Always the bridesmaid but never the bride??

Advantages: Good romantic comedy, some very funny dresses

...27 dresses is about a woman called Jane who loves weddings and helping organise them but she is always a bridesmaid but never the bride. The name of the film comes from the fact that she has 27 bridesmaid dresses squeezed into her wardrobe each one a reminder of the times she has been bridesmaid for a friend. The film opens with Jane (played by Katherine Heigl) rushing between two weddings both of which she has agreed to be a bridesmaid for but which are on the same day on either side of town. We watch as she rushes between the two changing in the back of the taxi and enjoying the fun at both. 27 dresses is a romantic comedy. There are really good characters in this film and its not just a romantic comedy about weddings it is also about the relationships and the personalities of the characters involved. Jane is a lovely...
