...Blood Brothers is a fantastic musical that has been around for over 20 years and is still as popular as ever. I have now seen it 5 times and cant wait to go again its that good. Book, lyrics and music are all by Willy Russell. Plot is centred around the working class Johnstone family with Mrs Johnstone becoming a single parent quite soon into the story as her husband leaves her with a brood of children. To feed her family Mrs Johnstone gets a job at the upper class Lyons household as a cleaner and is a big hit. Soon after she realises she is pregnant with twin boys and cant possibly afford to bring up another two children. Mrs Lyons however is desperate for a child and unable to get pregnant so offers to 'buy the baby. Reluctantly Mrs Johnson agrees and the deal is done. Blood Brothers

Advantages: Good action film
Disadvantages: Some weak plot areas

...This is a flm only review and is not about the DVD. Four Brothers is an excellent gritty film that I watched on Film 4 a couple of nights ago, it has a strong cast and a pretty good story line that focuses on family relationships and the quest for revenge. The four brothers in the title are all adopted and are bought back together to the city of Detroit one winters day for the funeral of their foster mother who provided them with a loving home and precious childhood memories in a rough working class area. The mother has been killed in a convenience store robbery while she was shopping for groceries and the thre of the brothers vow to get revenge despite the close attention of the local police to whome they are well known. ...Blood brothers has been on the GCSE syllabus now for how many years? And that?s how I first got introduced into the play so I read it over and over and over and over again so I'd like to say I know it pretty well, and I didn't get all that bored of it. The play begins with telling you the ending, believe it or not. It tells you that there were twins, one given away and one kept yet they both died on the same day. The narrator tries to tell us that Mrs Johnstone (the twins' mother) was cruel and heartless, yet we learn throughout the play that she is a sweet and caring mother that would never wish to hurt a fly. The beginning of the play really sets the mood telling us about Mrs Johnstone and how she became pregnant so often, and it also sets the light-hearted mood for the play. When the taste of bitter BLOOD combined with SWEET chocolate . .

Advantages: New view of romance, good story and some breathtaking scenes!

Diamond's Really Do Cost Blood - Blood Diamond

Advantages: Gripping, Superb acting, makes you think about life differently, eye opening

...Personal Opinion I watched Blood Diamond last night and it was an absolutely amazing film that was completely absorbing and gripping. It is a 2006 action/adventure drama film co-produced and directed by Edward Zwick, director of Glory and The Last Samurai. It stars Leonado DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. The film was put forward for five Academy Awards of which included Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Supporting Actor (Hounsou) I admire Leonardo DiCaprio for his acting abilities he is a first class actor who is able to get deep into the character. As a character actress myself I know it is not easy to dig deep into a character that is so emotionally challenging as DiCaprio played. ...Blood Borothers has now been showing at the Phoenix Theatre for nearly 12 years and in my opinion is the best musical i have seen. I don't know a lot about theatre productions but i know when something is good. The Plot -------- I won't give away the main events of the story and the consequences incase you havn't seen the show, hopefully i will just inspire you to go and see it. Willy Russels objective when he wrote this play was to show up how adsurd the current system was and he did this is an excellent way.
