My personal thoughts:
As you've just read, 'French Kiss' doesn't have a demanding plot-line, but it IS entertaining and there are several laughs along the way as we travel through Paris with Kate and Luc?
Personally, I felt Kline's portrayal of a small-time crook was far more believable than Ryan's broken-hearted-fiancée-on-a-mission-to-sort-things-out role. But they do complement each other...

Snogging, French Style...
Advantages: Great romantic comedy, some genuinely hilarious moments
Disadvantages: Predictable plot, quite cheesy
...(This is a film-only review.)
There are romantic comedies and romantic comedies. Some fall into the trap of being overly sentimental - thus, people who don't have a natural affinity for romantic comedies would not enjoy them. French Kiss definitely doesn't fall into this category, so if slushiness puts you off, you'll still like this. (Even my sister would like it! :-P)

First-Class Satire from French and Saunders
Advantages: Smart, fast, witty, wacky, juvenile, spot-on satirical humour.
Disadvantages: Just a few weak spots, insufficient to ruin anything.
...the 'Star Wars: the Phantom Menace' spoof ('The Phantom Millenium' in the Region 2 DVD's Special Features/1999 Christmas Special), we get a complete caricature of the film. Besides the oft-changing makeup and diction of the Queen (Dawn French's goofy take on Queen Amidala), the boffo mangling past comprehension of Yoda's already oddly structured sentences, and the duo as Jedi knights doing ferocious...
