Garfield: The Movie

Advantages: Great for pet owners and lovers of the original comic strip
Disadvantages: Kids will love it more

...people would love it either way. This is obviously a film for kids but I watched it as an adult and enjoyed it immensly. The film is rated U for Universal - suitable for all with very mild language and slapstick violence. It runs for approximately 76 minutes. The hilarious bonus features include: Interactive Games Deleted scenes (brilliant!) Director's commentary Featurette Multi-Angle content If you liked this movie there was a sequel released in 2006 called Garfield: A tale of two kitties. Basically a Garfield version of a tale of two cities where Garfield goes to England. I liked it but not as much as this original DVD. You can now buy this movie in HMV for £4.99. If you love cats, dogs and funny kids movies then this is definitely for you....

...As a fan of animated animal movies such as Happy Feet and Finding Nemo, I was pleased to see adverts for Bee Movie - it just looked so cute, of course I had to give it a try! In case you couldn't guess from the title, Bee Movie is based around, well, bees. More specifically, it is about a young bee called Barry who just can't decide what he wants to do with his life. It is traditional for all of the bees to only work in one job for their entire life, and he just can't choose which area is right for him. He decides to give pollen collecting a go, however whilst out collecting pollen he gets trapped in the rain and ends up inside a human house where everybody tries to kill him - with the exception of a woman called Vanessa who saves his life. ...of good money. They really took the piss out of some films and took it that extra level which probably ruined it. Harry potter? A 35 year old man? Harmony pregnant? A hip and trendy Batman movie

Advantages: Could say a great period piece of entertainment

...Before Christian Bale, and a good 20 years before Michael Keaton ever stepped into the costume of the Dark Knight there was another version that goes far beyond cult status. This could only be Batman the Movie. Released in 1966, the movie version of the successful and ever popular TV series not only launched the Dynamic Duo overseas but also meant that additional funding could be resourced which financially preserved the series for future production. The premise is exactly the same as the TV series and Director Leslie Martinson has not changed a single thing, in fact this plays out like three episodes have been joined up and given a theatrical release. That's not to say it isn't entertaining as it is as this for me is the epitome of camp, kitsch and implausible tongue in cheek explanations on how to solve a crime on a grander scale...

Not scary, and barely a movie

Advantages: Funny in places, some excellent parodies, good acting, good extra features
Disadvantages: Storyline weak, not that much comedy, undefinable genre

...the plot though which adds slightly more humour to the whole thing as well. The acting is relatively convincing considering the light-hearted, black-humourness of the whole film. Each character develops with his or her own jokes and quips, and there are recurring jokes and leitmotifs in the movie as well. The DVD itself contains a considerable number of amusing extra features, including 7 Deleted/Extended Scenes, a Behind-the-Scenes featurette and a Theatrical Trailer, which are all of relatively high quality and very amusing. However, besides the option of watching the movie in Italian, there isn't much else on the disc and it doesn't offer too great-value a watch at £16.99 average price, certainly when compared to similar releases which contain many more features of higher quality.
