Nextbase TVM57-D
Advantages: You can take anywhere, great picture on digital
Disadvantages: digital coverage, batterylife
...I expressed my view to having one of these and low and behold one turned up for my birthday this year. Reason for wanting one was because sitting outside shops waiting for the wife or children at after school clubs I had nothing to do. I started watching a little analogue TV but that soon died a death so I reverted to a portable DVD player but you can only watch so films twice. HENCE!!!
This T.V not only picks up your normal analogue T.V (BBC,ITV,etc) but digital (free view) that?s just under another 50 channels, including Sky news, Sky 3, E4, all extra BBC and ITV channels.
The TV comes as a LCD 7 inch screen which is encased in a black soft rubber outer casing that also houses the speakers and controls at the front with the volume on the side. The TV has a pullout tilt stand that pulls out from the back and locks. It...

An amazing DVD screen for any holiday!
Advantages: Lovely large screen adn great quality feel to it!!
Disadvantages: None
...What a product!!! And what a steal at £279!!! Read on!!!
2-Year Warranty!!!
We bought one of these last year from Incardvd for a long camping holiday over the summer.
It kept our son occupied in the back of the car watching his own DVD's on the wireless headphones.
The when we were camping we used it in the evening and watched TV on it's built-in Freeview digital and analog tuner. (Antenna included in box)
The screen size is great at 10.2 inches and the carry case protects it really well.
It plays all of our DVD's and CD's (including multi-region, DiVX, MP3, CDR, CD+R and CD-R. It even has a USB port
It has power supply for car and mains so is pretty versatile too.
Having not heard of Nextbase before we were a little worried but now if we have to replace this at any pont we will buy Nextbase again....

Portable DVD player for when Ipod just won't do
Advantages: Excellent screen, easily available accessories
Disadvantages: Plastic case feels cheap, sound could be louder
..."Are we there yet?...I'm bored" is the phrase most parents hate to hear when on a longer trip in the car (except apart from "I'm going to be sick....blueurghhhhhh"). My daughter seems to have discovered both. Having seen that newer cars are coming with DVD players as standard I thought I would have a look at a low end portable player to stick in the car and also use in the house when the main TV is busy with soaps.
Nextbase sell under a variety of names including "Voyager" so you may see the exact same model with a different badge. The SDV77 is the entry level 7" screen top loading DVD player that has now been upgraded to play DiVX, whatever that is! It is also multi-region. The player costs between £120-£150 and comes fully bundled with manuals, mains charger, incar charger, small earpieces, av cable, remote, headrest mounting...

Rockit's DVD
Advantages: Quite good extras
Disadvantages: All in one long episode
...Fimbles ? Smelly Jelly
I have to admit that Fimbles are not one of my favourite children?s programmes though my daughter loves it so we decided to go and get her a DVD so when we wanted to watch something on the television, she could watch it happily on the laptop ? which she enjoys doing as its mummy?s laptop and she isn?t meant to touch it!
The Fimbles are Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom, who all live in a lovely, colourful place called Fimble Valley. The Fimbles are cuddly hippo like creatures each with lovely colourful ?skins?. Other characters in this programme include a blue tree frog called Rockit and a mole called Roly Mo, a pink bird called Bessie and her chick Ribble. Most of the other characters are essentially large puppets except the chick who is just a great ball of fluff with eyes stuck on it, unmoving in the main...

A Golden DVD!
Advantages: entertaining, great length, good features, appealing natural comedy
Disadvantages: sorry, if you're under 12, its a no-go!
...I am a Telly Addict. I'll admit it, it's my life. What's more, I love anything that has me in stitches. So what better than to combine two of my favourite things and come up with an amazing show?! Harry Hill's TV Burps is a comedy show, presented by Harry Hill, which airs every on and off on ITV1. He also writes the script for the show too, which must result in him non-stop working. It first started in 2001 when Hill was just 37, and has been a success for the last eight years now. Each episode, Hill takes us on a journey to look back at that weeks' television, and everything comic about it. Often, there is a celebrity guest appearing in the audience-filled studio, to bring the entertainment and laughter to a peak. Now we can enjoy this magic on a DVD!
For Christmas I had asked for Harry Hill's TV Burp Gold DVD, however I did not...

History of the ashes sport dvd
Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: Read Opp
...history of the ashes
Back in eighteen eighty two a test match series between england and australia started a regular feature for cricket fans. The eighteen eighty two series provided a victory for england, and it was the australian's who got a request granted to play a fourth test match, and whilst they won, it was england who got to keep the famous ern where the ashes are kept. The series is played every two years, though only once every four years back here in England.
this dvd lasts two hours eleven minutes, and it provides a historical platform in terms of cricketing. clips shown of great catches, supreme batting performances, and legendary bowlers of cricket's all time, hall of cricketing fame. The dvd also is interesting to see how world war one and two affected english cricket.
the results of the ashes are mainly...

The Notebook DVD
Advantages: Moving, beautiful love story
Disadvantages: Makes me cry!!
...Having watched this film on Channel 4 at the weekend (I have the DVD also but just had to watch it) I've decided to review it for anyone who hasn't seen it. Although, I see that a lot of people have already seen it as the UK premier on Channel 4 attracted 1 million viewers!!
The Notebook is a beautiful romance that still makes me cry after numerous viewings. It is poignant, romantic, sad, hopeful and uplifting all rolled into one.
The Notebook was actually developed from a book written by the American author Nicholas Sparks in 1996. It spent over a year as a hardcover best seller.
The film version was released in 2004. It follows the story of Noah and Allie, childhood sweethearts who eventually find each other again after years apart. The story is very cleverly told as a flashback. It begins in a modern day nursing home...

Superbad DVD
Advantages: Very funny, good acting
Disadvantages: Aimed quite specifically at teenagers, quite crude humour
...his childhood penis obsession..).
The DVD includes quite a few special features, for example, deleted scenes and outtakes, as with most DVDs, and is good value for money.
Overall, if you are looking for a teen comedy and have a fun, slightly immature side, you will probably love this!...

Thirteen DVD
Advantages: Realistic, Honest, Great Acting
Disadvantages: Explicit/Emotional
...for anyone who is looking for easy viewing. It includes scenes of self-harm, drug use and violence. It is a very well-made film, though. The acting is fantastic and realistic, portraying teenage life in a totally different way from general American films set in high schools. It is particularly impressive due to the low budget available for filming - the end result seems more authentic, with no need for fancy special effects. The cameras used are mainly hand-held though, so it's probably not a good idea to watch this film if you easily get a headache.
The DVD features are great - there is an insight to the soundtrack, as well as deleted scenes, the "making of" and commentary. To sum up , I think this is definitely a film to watch at least once. It may not be to everyone's tastes due to the nature and tone of the film (which is quite depressing to...

Leatherheads DVD
Advantages: Funny, George Clooney
Disadvantages: None
...almost filmed like that too, quite fast paced and uses a lot of old time props such as steam trains and really adds a good element to the film. The costumes are great as well and it really makes you lust after the wardrobe of Renee Zellweger. George Clooney plays his part extremely well too and although he is looking a bit older he still pulls off the rugged, football player look. John Kraskinsi is not as an established actor as the other too but does not seem out of his depth at all and really holds his own against the other two stars.
There are not too many bonus features in this DVD, just some deleted scenes which are quite funny in places. The film lasts for approximately 1 hour and 49 minutes and it is a PG, containing mild language and comic violence.
I would not rush to see this film again but it is funny enough, different...
