If this doesn't put people off speeding what will?

Advantages: Brilliant action
Disadvantages: None

...unfortunate enough to be caught up in a terrorist situation. I love how it?s not obvious what?s going to happen, in most brainless action movies you know exactly what?s going to happen without even watching the film, Speed manages to break away from that negative stereotype and comes out shining brightly as an excellent, genre defining action movie that will remain a classic for years to come. If you haven?t already seen this film you simply must, you wont regret it. The DVD is available from play.com for £4.99 which is a real bargain. Given that this is quite an old film there aren?t any special features on the DVD however the sheer brilliance of the movie speaks for itself so the special features can without doubt be overlooked....

...The storyline -------------------- Jack Traven and his partner Harry Temple are SWAT team explosives experts in Los Angeles. They're called in to free a group of office workers from an elevator that's trapped between floors in a downtown high-rise. Howard Payne, an explosives expert who used to be with the Atlanta, Georgia bomb squad, has promised that they'll all be blown to bits unless he's paid off. Traven and Temple rescue the hostages, but Payne escapes. Later, while Traven is out getting coffee in his neighbourhood one morning, Traven witnesses a city bus explode, killing several people. Traven picks up a nearby ringing pay phone, only to hear Payne warn that another bus, filled with innocent commuters, has been wired with a bomb. Disadvantages: Not very cheap, slow burn speed, not printale

...case supplied is only CD-sized, so your DVD+Rs stand out against the rest of yur DVD collection on a shelf. 4) If you have a newer DVD burning drive, these will only burn at a maximum of 4x speed. These negative points aside, if you need a good quality DVD+R quick and can't wait for an internet shop to deliver, get down to WH Smith and pick up some of these little beauties - you won't be disappointed....

Speed

Advantages: exellent film with great characters

...Speed stars the fantastic Keanu Reeves and the wonderful Sandra Bullock, along with Dennis Hopper. The main part of the film is based around 'the bomb on the bus', but we also see a bomb on an elevator at the beginning. So basically, the entire film is based aroud a bomb on something! Harry and Jack (Keanu) are two cops who unfortunately are given the task of trying to save a lot of people on an elevator attached to a bomb, or the other way round, a bomb attached to an elevator. Anyway, they manage to save these people and come face-to-face with the bad guy (Dennis). This events in Harry being shot and everybody believing the bad guy is dead. But it's obvious something else, something interesting is going to happen as we are only 45 minuites into the film! Harry and Jack recieve an award for their bravery, whilst the bad guy...

Speeding to glory

Advantages: Great effects, stood the test of time very well, fantastic cast
Disadvantages: Sometimes comes across as funny when its trying to be scary/thriller

...trailers and the 'TV spots' seem to be much the same thing. *** Overall *** Speed is a great movie that has stood the test of time very well, still as relevant today as it was upon its release in 1994 - maybe more so now. I bought my copy of this 2 disc special edition for £7.99 from a small shop in my town. I think this is fantastic value, especially considering all the special features, and hopefully it's going to be a great Christmas present for my housemate - I may borrow it back a couple more times too! The movie is a certificate 15, because it has strong violence and strong language, but there is no nudity or other rude stuff in this DVD. Personally I think a 12 certificate would be better, but I don't make up the rules!...

Review of Speed (Special Edition) (DVD)

stable DVD-/+R!!!

Advantages: Very good brand
Disadvantages: none at the moment

...This DVD-/+R is absolutely amazing, it has never let me down! First, the This type of DVD is said to be Data/Video and it does what the description say. When i first burnt my home video on to this DVD-/+R and played it on my DVD player, i thought it wasn't going to recognize it, however it played it correctly without jumping tracks or anything!. I tried burning with my other DVD-/+R but all of them didn't recognized my home video, sadly! Personally, i would go for DVD+R for burning home videos. Burning it using data as a storage also delivers a high quality. There were no errors and each time, it recognized the disc because some 'crappy' DVD-/+R doesn't even load it on the computer, HOwever, TDK is top-notch. The burning speed for DVD is 1-4x so it's not that slow. To burn the whole Data of 4.7gb would take about 30 minutes...

Speed Racer: A good kids filM!

Advantages: A great film for the kids!
Disadvantages: Don't watch if you don't like kids films, or bright colours, or over exaggerated stories!

...I am very surpirsed at the 2 star rating this film has as I found it quite good! The film is a PG and so aimed at kids really, but I love Kids films and I love cars...so meh I thought I'd give it a go! The film is taken from the comic series Speed Racer, and so is in the form of goodies vs baddies, with the villains taking form in the Royalson company. The goodies in the form of the Racer family. The film starts with Rex racer, a racing driver, and his young brother Speed, Speed is obsessed with racing and follows his brother religiously, not caring about his school work and only bothering about racing! When Rex is killed in a race, it tears the Racer family apart. But 8 years on, Speed is the one in the driving seat. As he is up and coming, he is constantly hassled by big corporate companies wanting to be in charge...

Speed - it surprised me

...When I first saw the review for Speed, I thought, what a load of crap, you can't keep a film going for 2 hours about a bus which can't go below 60 miles per hour. So I watched with trepidation last monday night... Speed: CAST: Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Dennis Hopper, Certificate: 12. But after all that I really enjoyed this film (some of you may have noticed I seem to enjoy every film I watch, this isn't true, I just only write opinions on the ones I enjoy). It was really exciting and I really underestimated the storyline, they kept this film exciting for an hour and 20 minutes set in a bus which is travelling at just over 60mph. When in the centre of Los Angeles they face real problems keeping the speed up, with all the traffic, but the hero policeman Jack Traven (played by Keanu Reeves in his first major role) manages...

I Feel The Need The Need For Speed

Advantages: Great action, acting, plot and well everything really
Disadvantages: Nothing

...Speed is an absolutely awesome action movie. Jan De Bont was at the helm for this one and has produced a stunning movie. It has got the lot action, great acting, great plot and a little romance too. What more could you want? The plot is pretty original. There’s a bomb on a bus and when the bus goes 50 MPH it will arm itself then if it drops below 50 it blows. So why is their a bomb on this bus? Well an extortionist (Dennis Hopper) is after revenge on an L.A.P.D. Swat team specialist Jack Traven. So he plants the bomb on the bus to get money but drags Jack in to see how he copes. The passengers include Sandra Bullocks character Annie Porter who has to drive the bus through L.A. till Jack can figure out what to do. The acting throughout is brilliant. I am not a huge fan of Keanu Reeves and detest the Matrix but I think he is...
