I bought myself a DVD±RW burner drive from CCL Computers for the very low price of £69.67, excluding postage, but it?s a great price for what you?re getting. DVD Re-Writers prices have fallen from about £200-£300 so I thought I?d get me one to back up files. I?ve wanted one since they introduced them but they were expensive back then. I wanted one mainly to back up my files. I have had a CDRW drive up till now but I could only fit up to 650MB or 700MB on them on a CD. CDRs start to pile up if you have a lot of files to burn. I bought the LiteOn SOHW 812S 8x 8x +/- DVD Re-Writer. It?s like a CD Re-Writer, but it can also write to blank DVD?s. It can write to DVD +R and -R at 8x (8 speed) or 10,800KB/sec, and DVD +RW and -RW at 4x (4 speed) or 5400KB/sec and read them at 12...

More Spiderman and his brief ego switch to Venom, The return of The Green Goblin in a slightly different guise, a new love interest in the form of Gwen Stacy and a new baddie in the form of Sandman. Lots of the usual action you've already come to expect from the previous 2 movies and lots for the comic book fans to spot and think "the non nerds won't get that reference!" which is sadly true. This film is being marked down harshly for it's need to re-write the original Spiderman. DVD Re-Writer, no house should be without one.

Advantages: Amazing, Can store hundreds and hundreds of mp3's, total quality.
Disadvantages: Discs can be expensive, but are coming down with every month that passes.

...Having watched this film on Channel 4 at the weekend (I have the DVD also but just had to watch it) I've decided to review it for anyone who hasn't seen it. Although, I see that a lot of people have already seen it as the UK premier on Channel 4 attracted 1 million viewers!! The Notebook is a beautiful romance that still makes me cry after numerous viewings. It is poignant, romantic, sad, hopeful and uplifting all rolled into one. The Notebook was actually developed from a book written by the American author Nicholas Sparks in 1996. It spent over a year as a hardcover best seller. The film version was released in 2004. It follows the story of Noah and Allie, childhood sweethearts who eventually find each other again after years apart. The story is very cleverly told as a flashback. Advantages: Realistic, Honest, Great Acting
Disadvantages: Explicit/Emotional

...for anyone who is looking for easy viewing. It includes scenes of self-harm, drug use and violence. It is a very well-made film, though. The acting is fantastic and realistic, portraying teenage life in a totally different way from general American films set in high schools. It is particularly impressive due to the low budget available for filming - the end result seems more authentic, with no need for fancy special effects. The cameras used are mainly hand-held though, so it's probably not a good idea to watch this film if you easily get a headache. The DVD features are great - there is an insight to the soundtrack, as well as deleted scenes, the "making of" and commentary. To sum up , I think this is definitely a film to watch at least once. It may not be to everyone's tastes due to the nature and tone of the film (which is quite depressing to...

Leatherheads DVD

Advantages: Funny, George Clooney
Disadvantages: None

...almost filmed like that too, quite fast paced and uses a lot of old time props such as steam trains and really adds a good element to the film. The costumes are great as well and it really makes you lust after the wardrobe of Renee Zellweger. George Clooney plays his part extremely well too and although he is looking a bit older he still pulls off the rugged, football player look. John Kraskinsi is not as an established actor as the other too but does not seem out of his depth at all and really holds his own against the other two stars. There are not too many bonus features in this DVD, just some deleted scenes which are quite funny in places. The film lasts for approximately 1 hour and 49 minutes and it is a PG, containing mild language and comic violence. I would not rush to see this film again but it is funny enough, different...
