The Sims 2 DVD-ROM

Advantages: Only 1 disc, loads of features
Disadvantages: Can be slow

...I have been a fan of the Sims for many years now, but only recently recently the Sims 2 for Christmas. When I opened it up, I noticed that it said DVD-Rom. At this point I panicked, thinking that I wouldn't be able to use it. Luckily, my computer has a DVD-ROM drive. The only difference between the normal CD-ROM version and the DVD-ROM, Is that the DVD-ROM only has one disc, making installation easier and quicker. Installation As I said, because the game is held on one disc only, you don't have to sit waiting for the computer to tell you top put in 'disc 2' or disc 3' etc. This means that you can leave the computer to happily go about its business of installing, whilst you go and watch the telly. A stand out rom-com

Advantages: Lots of laugh out loud moments
Disadvantages: Could have been shorter

...at portraying the unlucky in love man with the big heart. My only negative about this film is the running time, I feel at nearly 2 hours it could have been shortened to around 90 minutes as this seems to be the benchmark of most rom-coms. Overall I would say this is a brilliant romantic comedy with some real laugh out loud moments. The characters will really draw you into their world & you will really feel for them at every stage. This would be a great movie for valentines day if you're just planning on staying in with a DVD. Rom-com reversal

Advantages: Different take on a dull genre, strong performances from cast.
Disadvantages: Lacks humour, more rom than com.

Mediocre rom-com

Advantages: Entertaining enough
Disadvantages: No hint of attraction between Stiller and Aniston, Stiller and Messing

...don't often choose to watch rom-coms, but occasionally, it is pleasant to sit down and watch something that requires no brain-power whatsoever. This is definitely such a film. However, I generally enjoy Ben Stiller's characters and I will always have a soft spot for Jennifer Aniston because of her role as Rachel in Friends. What I found was a film that was certainly entertaining enough, but won't be one that I will go out of my way to watch again. Ben Stiller is his usual over-the-top self as Reuben Everything he does is exaggerated, but he still manages to stay just the right side of cheesy. As someone who thinks that his life, once so tidy and ordered, is now over, he delivers a pretty good performance. Hilarious rom-com

Advantages: Funny, dramatic, good acting
Disadvantages: None

...I am a romantic comedy addict, and I am not ashamed to tell the world!There are very few of these films I do not like; but there are also few as good as this one. My advice would be that if you do not usually like rom-com's, stay away from this. Cheesy and quirky, with big laughs at times, this isn't for those of you who would prefer to be on the edge of your seat watching a thriller. The advantage for me that you get with a romantic comedy is that it is easy watching; with no complex storyline to follow, and nothing jumping out from behind the door to worry about. Rom Com for the middle-aged?

Advantages: Keanu Reeves and Frances McDormand
Disadvantages: Incredibly annoying performances from Keaton and Nicholson

...going to be a lot more appealing, at least until you hear Diane Keaton cry. She cries, a lot. It is a piece of harmless fluff and if that is what you are looking for, then you'll probably like it well enough. I think this film is bad for my health. I am sitting here seething at the very thought of it - I'm furious that I wasted my time watching it. If you like Diane Keaton and/or Jack Nicholson, then by all means go for it, but I'd wait until it comes on the television rather than purchasing a copy. Death By Rom Com

Advantages: There was nothing truly awful I guess
Disadvantages: Boring, preditable, weird casting.

...'t even bother to make any effort at all, which is a real shame. No wonder this genre is laughed at - this is the second film I have watched this week which has been a total disappointment (the other being Fools Gold, although that was definitely worse than this film!) and that is a shame, because there are cracking little romantic comedies out there that aren't unimaginative and do have nice twists. This just felt like the producers had thrown a couple of household names at a film with a badly written script and a Director with no imagination to create a "rom com" knowing that these types of films with big names attached would bring in the bucks. I eagerly filled the form in and hoped I?d be one of the lucky recipients for the showing in Liverpool. Lo and behold 3 days later a pair of tickets came through my door for the Tuesday night preview. The plot is fairly basic, as you would expect from a romantic comedy. I have to say though that the emphasis is firmly on comedy. My boyfriend hates ?rom coms? but he really enjoyed this film.
