Advantages: Built in MP3 decoder

...I've recently bought the LG DVD 3350E and I'm so pleased with it :-) Not only is it a DVD player but it also has an MP3 decoder this is what made me buy it as I didn't want a walkman type of MP3 player. I have it connected up to my Hi Fi via audio leads and the sound is very good quality both for music and films and the picture quality is also very good. The player itself is very nice to look at and silver in colour it has built in Dolby Digital/MPEG -2 decoder aswell as the MP3 Audio decoder,Plays DVD-Video Audio CD/CD-R/CD-RW and MP3 disc, Dual laser optical pick up, 15 disc Set up condition memory, 15 disc Last scene memory, Multi speed fast and slow scan, on screen graphic user interface and marker and marker search. ..."When it's gone, It's gone". If you want an amazingly low priced DVD player with all the trimmings, get yourself down to Tesco sharpish before it is. (gone that is). I've just purchased the 3000E model DVD player ( Region 2 )made by LG Electronics UK, and I'm well chuffed. At £149.00 it was a steal, and the picture & sound quality is great. After looking around for a few months I was amazed to find such a great deal in the local Tesco super market. They actually had 2 different players on offer, the other being only £129.99 although that looked really boring and plain, so I opted for the LG. The first thing I liked immediately was the colour ( Silver ), as much of my home entertainment is coloured the same, hence it would look good with the rest of my stuff. ...This is a perfectly legal way to convert your LG-3200E DVD player to multi-region so you can take advantage of all those great priced DVDs at www.cd-wow.com (please see my separate opinion on this retailer). I bought my DVD player from www.bigsave.com just before Christmas. It cost me 157.99 including VAT with free delivery. I was really impressed with the player, which was intended as a Christmas present for my husband. It’s a silver colour and very stylish looking. Also has lots of features. I was less impressed with the fact that it was advertised on the Bigsave site as a multi-region player but when it arrived the factory settings were set to the default, i.e. Region 2. So I couldn’t play any of the DVDs I’d bought from Cd-wow. I emailed Bigsave Customer Services about the problem and quick as a flash they sent me a fax containing... Read review

Advantages: Compatible with DVD +/- R/RW and MP3, looks good, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Long boot time.

...take up to thirty seconds at least to start and then you need to insert a disc and initialize it to get into a position to record. Not very handy for spur of the moment needs. Also the record quality for these machines and every other manufacturers machines is done in strange catergories of High Quality 1-Hour, Standard Play 2-Hour and then Extended Play 4-Hour and Super Long Play. Sounds alright until you try to record a film over two hours long and are forced to use Extended Play, which is OK but not for prolonged watching as there is a lot of fuzzing to the image. Keep to the top two modes if at all possible for best quality. The other oddity, which I only discovered when I changed the machine to multi-region, is that this machine is actually an LG product with Sony branding. ...Being as I suggested this product, I thought I’d better make a start on an Op! The LG DVD-5095 is one of the latest in LG’s line of DVD players hosting masses of features. Being the movie fan I am, I bought mine from Richer Sounds for £184.99 so I have the added bonus of a multi region machine capable of playing US & UK discs. This machine will also cope with the new RCE (Regional Coding Enhancement) feature that Warner Bros. & Columbia Tristar have incorporated into some of their discs, which is an added bonus! The DVD player itself is a nice slimline model and comes in a stylish silver finish with a mirrored front panel, which looks fantastic. ...I purchased my LG DV-1000 from Argos around a year ago, especially for the Fellowship of the Rings extended DVD (what a geek!) - But as I live in a fairly small flat, I didn't want 2 machines taking up space, when I could get 1 for a good price. In fact, it only cost me £110 from Argos. The first thing you notice with a DVD player is what it looks like, and this one is pretty smart looking, in my opinion. Silver, shiny and reflective. Secondly, you have to set the thing up, and setting this up was made simple by a clear consice instruction manual, and uncomplicated on screen menus. A bonus is that it sets the date and time itself from signals it receives via the ariel! It doesn't have video+ programming for recording off the telly, but it's really simple to do it manually (My parents got one too, and even my *mum* can programme... Read review
