SAMSUNG DVD-HD950? I DON'T THINK SO!!!
Review of Samsung DVD-HD950 by
Georgios4u
Advantages: Slim Design....HDMI Ability.....Solid Compatibility
Disadvantages: Poor Poor Picture Quality
...'. This of course depends on the stuff you are looking when you're buying a DVD Player. The only thing I was looking was to offer me an incredible picture quality (as it was marketed) and to be able to enjoy my all favourite movies.
Although I am judging this DVD Player mostly in terms of image quality, I feel obliged to mention hat it performed incredibly well in other functions I used. Compatibility of other DVD's was almost excellent, meeting only a few problems of very old badly handled DVD's I owned. It mastered DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW formats and can easily play DVD's with MP3
OTHER ISSUES TO CONSIDER
Please NOTE that while the product is showed in some product images that there is a DivX logo on the product, the Player I bought didn't had the logo and simply couldn't play DivX
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall the Samsung DVD-HD950 isn...

Review of Samsung VP DC163 by

Advantages: Great quality and functionality, all round good buy.
Disadvantages: Costly to buy and also costly for the discs.

DVD Camcorder Samsung VP-DC163
-----------------------------------------------
Where to start, there is so much that I need to put into this review. Well let’s start about how I came around to getting this product. Well because I like all of the technology nowadays I seem to find that I like to keep up with the latest things so when I realised that I would have to resort to using my JVC camcorder that I purchased some ten years ago I decided that I was in desperate need of a new one. I spent a few weeks doing some research on the internet and I am to the conclusion after much thought that this would be the one for me. The only problem was that I hadn’t actually looked where I could purchase one from, so off I went again looking for this camera in every single source that I could...

Samsung P28 Laptop
Review of Samsung P28 Celeron M 1.5 GHz - 15.1" TFT by
matty168
Advantages: Nicely Designed, Ease of Use
Disadvantages: Quite heavy and not very portable
...I bought this on ebay for under £300 which i thought was a great price for a decent make. The laptop has a nice finish and is well designed too which made is even more appealing to me.
The laptop itself has a modest spec as it has an Intel Celeron 1.5 ghz cpu, 256 ddr sd ram , 40 GB IDE hard disk, cd rw/dvd drive, as well as a 15" lcd screen. It weighs 2.9 kg which makes it around the same weight as most of the laptops on the market just now.
It also has a built in wireless card allowing you to connect to a wireless network which is handy instead of having to buy a separate card which takes more room. You also get 4 USB ports,PCMIA card slot and a battery life of around 3 hours but this depends on your LCD contrast settings.
The laptop itself is bundled with Windows XP Home edition as standard and also with various Samsung...

Samsung DVD-HD860
Review of Samsung DVD-HD860 by
pieman1970
Advantages: Near HD upscaling at a very cheap price
Disadvantages: No virtual surround sound, not all DVD upscale well
...As soon as I heard about upscaling DVD players I discovered the Samsung HD860 was one of the latest models (2006). As I had purchased an HD compatible plasma it needed to have the best available source I could afford for the money and at £65 this slim and modern looking player was a bargain.
The player will output a normal scart signal (composite or RGB) and via the HDMI lead upscale the signal to either 576p, 720p or 1080i respectively (only with an HD TV). What this means if that the clever chip within the box will take the normal 704x576 pixels of the DVD and increase them to near full hd resolution.
The results can be simply stunning on a clean or new DVD, older DVD titles do not benefit as much as they contain more noise which does'nt help with the upscaling process.
The DVD comes with a simple remote to access the various...

What to write on a DVD-RW?
Review of Imation Corp. DVD+RW 4.7 GB 4x by
Ollydv
Advantages: Good quality, nice price, oooh a spindle
Disadvantages: same as most dvd-rw's
...Ok so yesterday I wrote a review on a CD-R, so I thought that I would move on and review a DVD+RW today.
These aren't the discs I usually use for my DVDs, actually I have only used them once, but I think I will be using them more in the future. They are great. They are a nice price compared to a lot of others, and they are pretty durable.
Reliability…
In my CD-R review I mentioned errors while burning CDs, and errors while burning DVDs was pretty much mandatory for me, until I started using these. I have only ever come across 2 errors, and they were my fault anyway for opening the drive in the middle of burning. Before I bought a DVD-RW drive, I used to make VCDs most of the time, as they were quick and easy. But since I have been using these, there is no need for VCDs as the discs give me no trouble at all.
Use…

Freecom Classic DVD+/-RW *Double Layer.
Review of Freecom Classic DVD+/-RW Double Layer by
derek-j-a
Advantages: Can be moved from PC to PC, lighweight, robust, reliable, fast
Disadvantages: None so far...
...Rewriter that most computers have these days).***
With both drive bays taken up on my PC, I decided on an external DVD Writer drive. Although more expensive than internal drive, it could easily be connected to my lap top should I wish to take my masterpieces and inflict them on people who didn't own DVD players. I jest of course!
In PC world, there were several external DVD drives on the shelves, but having had an external CD writer by Freecom which had been extremely reliable, I opted for the High Speed (USB2) Classic DVD+/-RW Double Layer model. It was the most expensive at just over £120 at the time (much cheaper now, see below), but the best available.
The Hardware:
In the box was a black DVD RW which was slim and lightweight (it was also available in white), the USB connector cable, the power transformer/cable (PSU- power...

Lacie DVD +/- RW
Review of LaCie Dual DVD+/-RW DVD±RW drive by
markays
Advantages: reliable, burns cds well, good compatibility
Disadvantages: dvd writing speed slow, not very portable
...Features:
Can Burn: DVD +/- RW, CD RW
Using: Firewire, USB 2.0, USB 1 (only at slower speeds)
Operating Systems: Windows (all), Mac
Free Software: Roxio Suite, WinDVD Player
Speeds: 4x Typical for DVD, 32x Typical for CDs
Other Important Features: Burn Proof
Installation:
The installation was very simple under Windows XP, I managed to get the drive working with Nero, Windows and all my dvd burning software very quickly.
Reliability:
Every CD and DVD i have burnt has worked perfectly. The cds can be read much faster and rarely fail, even after using in over 120 pcs one after another. This writer burns much more professionally than other writers i have.
Portability:
None, this thing is heavier than a brick, don't even consider carrying it anywhere. I think it's ideal if you've got more than one pc at home (or...

CD-RW in style
Review of TDK CyClone CD-RW drive by
tomok
Advantages: Looks great
Disadvantages: Looks too good for the rest of my stuff
...OK, OK, there are faster CD-RW out there and of course there are now DVD-R that give you that extra bit of storage but this little beauty is just what the doctor ordered.
TDK have managed to deliver a great package here both with hardware and the software supplied. They have released faster versions which will please all you speed freaks out there, but with a limited budget and not wanting something so flashy it even makes me a cup of tea in the morning, I settled for this model.
Inside the Box...
After emptying the contents of the box like a child at Christmas, I was faced with a good looking drive that does look a bit more than the standard cream coloured CD-RW drives out there, with a transparent blue tray popping out with a press of the eject button and the smooth lines of the front panel, this drive just looks great in my...
