Truly amazing.
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
lackdave
Advantages: Special effects amazing
Disadvantages: not only have they left stuff out of the book, but added stuff!!!
...This is the sequel to the fellowship of the ring in the Lord of the Rings trilogy being the second in the trilogy based upon the book by J.R.R. Tolkien.
After the Urak hai have kidnapped both Merry and Pippin, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (orlando Bloom), and Gimli set out to find their lost friends. While this happens Frodo (Elijah Wood) and his friend Samwise Gamgee follow the path to Mordor: the place where evil situates and the dark wizard Saruman is rallying an army to destroy all mankind. Without Gandalf (Ian Mckellen) Frodo is weak with the ring.
Story: One of the best stories ever written with tales of love, good and evil, tradegy, and suspense. The only thing bad is the fact that they have got it slightly wrong:
1. The 'two towers' reffered to in the film are the towers of orthanc, Saruman's tower, and the tower...

A truly great film.
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
wisesage
Advantages: Superb cinematic experience.
Disadvantages: Complex storyline and noisy battle scenes.
...Part two of the Lord of the Rings trilogy maintains the high standards set in part one : The Fellowship of the Ring. The Two Towers, continues Frodo and his companions journey to Mount Mordor but in this part there are a number of battles experienced on the way which allow Peter Jackson the Director, to display his wonderful sensitivity for the story and give rein to some of the most incredible computerised battle scenes ever seen. The culmination is the defence of Helms Deep by Aragorn, his companions and at first very few defenders, against tens of thousands of Orcs.
This part alone is worth the entrance fee.
Two Towers also sees the introduction of Gollum, a masterpiece of characterisation using computerisation to a level where you can almost believe the creature is real.
Whether you are a Lord of the Rings afficionado or just...

Excellent real life documentary on a terrible day.
Review of 9/11 (Wide Screen) by
Bunks
Advantages: Sensitively done, real life, excellent footage, well directed.
Disadvantages: Could be distressing for those who are easily upset.
...For those of you who don't know, on September 11th, 2001, hijackers took over four US flights and an act of terrorism against the US decided to fly these planes into pre-planned targets. One of these targets was the Twin Towers in New York, America. The other targets were the Pentagon and another unknown target, thought to be the home of the President - the Whitehouse. The day shook the world and shocked everyone. Many died on that day and it will go down in history as a day of terror. It was soon discovered that the terrorists belonged to a terrorist network called Al-Quida, with the head of the organisation and now the world's most wanted man - Osama Bin Laden.
This documentary was supposed to be about a new firefighter who has just started out on his career. The french film makers who were filming the whole process had been stationed...

Comedy Classic gets a makeover
Review of Fawlty Towers - Complete Fawlty Towers DVD by
27darren
Advantages: Comedy has stood the test of time, Good value for money
Disadvantages: Some may already own this on DVD from a previous release
...frequently makes it into "top comedy moments" countdowns, and there are so many to choose from. From Basil locking Manuel (the waiter) in a burning kitchen, to him beating his broken down car with a twig, the laughs never stop coming.
The main cast members are:
John Clesse as Basil Fawlty
Prunella Scales as Cybil Fawlty
Andrew Sachs as Manuel
Connie Booth as Polly
What is in the DVD Box set?
This "complete" DVD box set stays true to its name, featuring all 12 episodes, with a 3rd disc devoted to special features. These include Out-takes and interviews with the cast members never before released on DVD. Also, a special illustrated booklet is included as a further insight into the shows creation, while all this is packaged well, in an easy to access box set.
Is it worth my money?
Of course, this is not the first Fawlty Towers...

A Tower of Customers
Review of Tower Records by
chunka
Advantages: Choice of albums
Disadvantages: Choice of ex-chart singles
...***** THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED**********
£6.49 and £4.49 were the prices of two ex-chart singles I was looking for in.........HMV!
I went to Tower Records and found one of them for £3.99.
In HMV I asked the staff why it would cost me so much to but those singles and he told me it was because they were imports.
Well we cant really prove their not but these were quite recent releases considering they were out of the Top 40.
I could only find the one over Tower Records which was a dissapointment. Their choice of ex-chart singles are below expectedin my view.
!But then!
Tower Records are highly recommended by DJ's and this retailer is known for records.
My local TR has 3 floors.
TOP- Records
MIDDLE- Singles and latest releases
BOTTOM- Albums and DVD's.
In fact, like HMV and other huge retailers, Tower Records have a huge selection...

Such a fantastic film in every way
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
mart_blade
Advantages: Epic, Gripping, Awesome
Disadvantages: Missing bits from the book
...The Two Towers is like one of those films that you wait years for and when it comes you almost miss it because it's been so long and you'd almost forgotten about it (a year between each film, shock horror). However, for me it was like a constant pain in my mind having to wait a full year for this film and like the relief of nurofen, when I finally saw it for the first time, it was like a feeling of overwhelming satisfaction. This could not be further from the truth. Being a huge fan of LOTR I felt i'd never get to see the books made into films, however, the question now is "could the Two Towers live up to the phenomenal success of the Fellowship?"
In almost every single way, the Two Towers meets and at times eclipses it's predecessor which is a remarkable feat for all involved. Right from the outset (sorry but there ARE spoliers...

Same old stuff in a new shiny box!
Review of Peter Kay - Stand Up Ukay DVD by
rumble_g
Advantages: Best bits of Peter Kay's existing Material
Disadvantages: Pointless if you have other DVD's Pointless if you dont
...Please do not buy this DVD
I feel cheated! Yes i am a big fan of Peter Kay.. Yes i bought this DVD with high expectations.. Yes i was bitterly dissapionted with what i saw. No NEW material just a rehash of the same jokes i paid good money for on previous DVD's.
If like me you already own Live at the top of the tower and live at the bolton albert halls then you already own everything on this DVD.. infact you own more material than what is included on this product. Even if you dont own these two dvd's still dont buy this the box set of the two shows mentioned above is around the same price as this and you get so much more.
All i can see is material upto 7 years old being repackaged for a quick christmas sales boost.
There are a couple of extras on this dvd, one of outtakes of the general public and the 500miles music video. Nothing...

Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring DVD by
paula_tanser
Advantages: Classic Masterpiece
Disadvantages: 2 Different formats, 2 DVD set now, 4 DVD set in November
...Blanchett to name a few.
Exclusive 10 minute behind the scenes preview of ‘The Two Towers’. The film just looks awesome (I’m currently reading the book ‘The Two Towers’ so I will see how the film compares to the book).
Enya “May It Be’ video
Preview of the video game ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’
And here’s the thing that will probably decide if the people go out and buy this DVD……. or wait till November to get The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring, (4 disc set) Special Extended DVD.
This is a thing which will annoy a lot of people. Pay £17.00 plus for a 2 DVD set (which is reasonably priced I thought). Or the world famous marketing ploy, wait another couple of months and get the 4 DVD set for about the £30.00 price range.
I’ve got this set as I do love the film and will most probably get the 4 disc set in November...

God help the outcasts..
Review of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (Animated) by
Mistybrook
Advantages: Enjoyable songs.
Disadvantages: Slightly sad for younger viewers in certain scenes.
...High up in the bell tower of Notre Dame Cathedral lives a hunchbacked man who rings the bells every morning, wishing he could join the people down there in the streets but his Master Frollo forbids him to ever go down there. When he hears the celebrations of the annual festival of fools, Quasimodo just can't help himself and sneaks out of the bell tower to see the festival...
A smash hit for all ages, showing people that beauty is not just on the outside. The DVD contains deleted scenes, the making and history of the Hunchback of Notre Dame and a interactive game controlled by your remote.
The movie has been translated into several languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew and Greek.) and there are subtitles for people with hearing problems.
I love this movie, the voice actor for Frollo (Tony Jay) was the best singer out of all...

Review of Anaconda DVD by
jimmy_pop
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: the film
...the only good thing about this film is jennifer lopez gracing the screen. this film is total and utter rubbish. the story line is pathetic and the effects are just exceptionally bad. the story is really predictable all the way through adn it is jsut like a bad nightmare in that it just doesn't end and the snke never dies , it survuves , gun shots tot he head being thrown of the top of a tower and being burned alive and yet it still coems back for more.
this really is just film making at one of its all time lows...
