...OK first of all, please forgive me for the corny title of this review. My justification is that I have to make a review about DVD-RAM as interesting as it is humanly possible, so that was my attempt. Apologies. You might be asking why am I even bothering to write a review on Ciao about DVD-RAM in the first place, when I could be writing about Emmerdale or something. Well the reason for this is because DVD-RAM has genuinely become a revelation to me, because I have learned that they are far superior to any other recordable DVD format. I needed to buy a few blank recordable DVDs to archive certain films and programmes on my new Panasonic DMR-EX78EB-K Freeview+ 250GB HDD DVD Recorder, so I assumed I would buy DVD±RW, until I unintentionally discovered that Amazon were selling Panasonic DVD-RAM discs. A great drive, especially if you need DVD-RAM

Advantages: Fast, especially DVD-RAM, reads and writes everything
Disadvantages: No lightscribe

...When I bought my Panasonic DVD recorder in the instructions it stated that if I had a RAM disc I could use the recorder in timeslip mode. Without being too technical timeslip allows you to begin watch something while still recording rather like SKY+. To elaborate on this a bit more; say for example you liked X-factor, but were sick of all the adverts. A RAM disc allows you to start recording the show at say 7pm, you could then begin watching at 7.15pm; this would allow you to fast forward through the adverts while the show is still recording. As a result starting to watch a show 15 minutes later on an advert laden channel means that chances are the show will still end at the same time you have just not had to view the adverts. ...I brought this DVD player a year ago when moving into a new flat with my partner. It records several DVD formats and can play back DVD's and CD's. It can also be used as a Digital Tuner if the TV does not have its own. I was looking for a DVD player that was going to be most compatible with recording and playback of different disc formats whilst also featuring a digital tuner. I have used it to record onto DVD-RW and DVD+RW with the same high quality results from each. Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player

Advantages: Crisp and clear picture quality (its a blu-ray!)

...I've currently had this blu ray player for a few months now, and have not had a single problem with it. It plays all the Blu Ray dvds i own, and normal dvd's without a problem! I have even compared the difference in quality from blu ray dvds and normal dvds at the same time, tried it with 'I am Legend'. You can instantly see the difference in the picture quality, things look sharper and colours are more bolder. The thing with blu ray is, there is just no point in getting one if you dont have a good tv! It has to have HD, be flat screen and atleast 28"+.
