...I love this vacuum!!! Its so light, compact and really easy to use even my husband can use it!! I have already got a dyson vac but needed to replace it due to it being old and bits starting to drop off (sounds a bit like its owner really!) I saw this on a preview and really liked it. It is only 3/4 size of a ordinary vac as the handle collapses inside itself. It is very easy to use as you just twist the handle to steer the vaccum on its ball rather than vaccing backwards and forwards. The beater bar can be switched off with a button on the front of the vacuum when using the attached tools. Even if this vac is 3/4 size, it does just as good a job as a full size one. Dyson Animal - King of the vacuums

Advantages: does what it claims, safe for stairs
Disadvantages: expensive

...I have a new vacuum and I love it!!!!! I am a pet owner and cat breeder so the obvious choice for me was to get a 'pet specific' vacuum. I have had ones in the past but find that they do not cope well with the short barbed hairs of my Dalmatian. So with a bit of trepidation I coughed up the enormous price tag attached to this vacuum with the hope it would work. I unpacked the vacuum and was please to find it mostly together already. In the box were the usual literature and a five year guarantee which covers parts and labour - my hover was shop bought and the sales person tried to offer me this as an extra so watch out!!!. I plugged it in and off I went. I have had cylinder machines in the past however I found the upright model to be much lighter than I expected and very manoeuvrable I whizzed around the living room in no time...

Dyson not hoover

...Having own the original style Dyson some years ago, I had an idea what to expect with the acquisition of the DC 14 when my old hoover's wheels literally came off (wasn't a Dyson by the way). The new Dyson clicked together in a few minutes, I even followed the instructions, and within a minute of registering the Dyson on line for the 5 year guarantee I was hoovering away. ...I LOVE my Dyson DC19! I paid £119.99 from LX Direct and I have also seen this great price in my local Sainsburys so it pays to shop around. This is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned and I have owned MANY ( cats, dog, kids, big house, cars etc), any cleaner in this house is bound to take a bashing and I usually find that the brushes fall apart, or the hoses split and it ends up looking like a comedy of errors held together with duct tape, but not this one!! So, what do I like most? Not having to continually buy dust bags has to be a major factor, and saves a lot of money. Being able to see how full it is - I love this part when my son announces theres nothing wrong with his bedroom and and I go in there with the Dyson and come out with a full tank! Being able to strip it down and wash all the bits is great...

...I purchased this dyson having owned a dyson for many years, and then my new puppy decided to chew any chewable parts that it had, so opted to buy a new one. Now initially my mum had went and bought me a miele hoover, which was not an upright or bagless but the suction is apparantly superior, but i prefer an upright and when i tried to vacuum my rugs with the miele, i decided an upright would be the less physically demanding cleaner for me, which is always important to a busy mum and housewife. I searched the net and found one on cdiscount for £179.99 which was on offer at the time, so i went ahead and bought it and looked forward to receiving it. I chose this one instead of the dc24 as i have a lot of stairs in my house and the smaller size appealled to me as not being as heavy as a larger one, would be easier to take around...

...my shoulder so dont find it a problem. it doesnt take me long to vacuum so no problem anyhow. it is not a quiet hoover by any means but i guess thats the price you pay for the performance. i do find it heavier than the other uprights i have used but then they dont do the job so i am sticking with this baby for the time being. the permanent filters are supposedly very good, which along with the bagless nature of it is one of the selling points to me..i think dyson have proved themselves for good design with this machine in those areas, as well as performance. given that there is a 5yr guarantee i think we can all rely on a long life with this vacuum. i recommend it to all and hope you find it as good as i have. buying online it was great value for money and has proved itself worth every penny so far. this girl aint for parting with it...

...I bought the Dyson, as I wanted a vacuum cleaner, which was capable of coping with cat hair removal and also had a high filtration level for asthma sufferers. Each DC-14 is colour coded to the special facilities it offers. I have the steel gray and purple version, which has the Hepa filter, extra pet hair mini turbine head, adjustable brush for carpets and tiles plus the standard tools. The standard model is yellow and gray, and does not have the adjustable brush. It is suitable only for carpets, not for tiles.
