Sony Handycam DCR HC1000E

Advantages: Excellent Image with 3CCD, Lightweight and Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Now obsolete due to High-Def 3CCD Camcorders

...with them. The DCR H1000E is no exception and used a superb lens which gives superb clarity to the images. And being able to focus manually is a great addition to this camera. Sometimes you really need that manual control for fast focussing (which autofocus cameras are not particularly good at) and also to add effects, because the point of focus may not be in the main part of the frame. The Zebra pattern is only of interest to quite serious photographers, and for those reading this it operates just as most others do and there is nothing exceptional about it. For those that want to know what it is I suggest looking for a reputable website or a good book, because its importance and use are beyond the scope of a review. The spot meter and spot focus are rather more for the serious types, but in a nutshell it gives you a much great control...

Motorolla E1000 - in summary!!

Advantages: Large screen, great sound, expandable memory
Disadvantages: iTap dictionary, 10 seconds max video capture.

...Ok, I've had this phone for 2 months now, and all in all I'm very happy with it. I work in IT and am forever seeing the latest models bought in by colleagues and any duff purchase is sure to attract some ribbing from the guys, not so with the E1000. Personally , I like candy bar phones so my choice was fairly limited anyway, but this phone does it all, bar infa red. I use a PCMCIA bluetooth card to transfer data between my laptop and phone, back up phone book, calendar etc. I use Motorolla phone tools which is very good but unfortunately is subject to a charge, I think I saw it for about £23 but if you look in the right places you might find it as cheap as free, cough. The camera is very good quality and the flash is essential for good pictures in dark surroundings, and I made a video call to test it out which is good also...

Dell Vostro 1000

...of Dell laptops always seem to be getting better. I made the decision to buy. The snag I found was this Dell Vostro 1000 was a range that is only available to business customers. This wasn't really a major problem, as I could just buy it as a business. Purchasing as a business has a drawback, but it also has a pro point. The drawback to buying as a business is that the distance selling regulations only apply to consumers, so you cannot send it back within 7 days if you change your mind. The pro point is that the laptops tend to have less rubbish installed on them, than their equivalent consumer models. The Dell Vostro 1000

...I bought the Dell Vostro 1000 for starting a Degree last september. The Vostro 1000 is marketed at businesses and as such is installed with Windows Vista Business. The laptop came with 2GB of RAM which is ample to run vista comfortably. The fact that the laptop is marketed for businesses has made no difference to me. In fact it has probably helped me with my degreee as it doesn't come with all the extra unnecessary rubbish that others do (e.g. solitaire, hearts etc)! The Vostro has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it; every game I have installed, the microsoft ultimate 2007 package, etc. The Dell Vostro 1000 is amazing quality for money and I would thoroughly recommend it, expecially for anyone on a limited budget. The battery once charged does not last for ages but it is not too bad at all; as with most laptops...
