The Samsung E720

Advantages: Mega-Pixel Camera, Video, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, USB, Stylish Design
Disadvantages: No Infra-Red port and the cover picture disappears too quickly.

...Deciding it was time to get a new phone, I was initially enchanted by the stylish Samsung D500. As I was browsing, however, I found, on a cheaper contract, the E720, essentially released at the same time. There are numerous reviews on Ciao of its predecessors, the E700 and E710 but it should certainly not be confused with these? I have had this phone for two weeks now and, as it is released by pretty much every network on their contracts this month, I think it's important I convey my thoughts on it. As yet I have found no hardware or software problems with it (as sadly mattshaw4 found with his E710) but will update this if I do, it does not appear likely. ...When taking out a new contract with orange I had to decide on what phone to get with it. I have always liked Samsungs as they tend to have great features and are easy to use. The E720 caught my eye as it was one of the most up-to-date phones at the time and had excellent features. In addition, it is small and lightweight (being approximately 80g) and is also attractive. The front of the phone is light and dark grey and boasts an external display, which displays the time, network information and a graphic of your choice. The 1.1 megapixel camera is also on the front of the phone and there are controls for the mp3 player, which you can listen to whilst the phone is closed. This means it can essentially be used like an mp3 player. The Samsung E720 is quite similar to the D500 but has a clamshell design rather than a slide-up design...

Advantages: Nice look, good camera, easy to use, MP3 player

...I've had this phone for around three months now and overall I'm very happy with it. However, before buying I would consider exactly what you want to use it for. I use mine mainly for the camera, MP3 player and to text and for all of these functions it is great. But, if the main purpose of your mobile for you is to actually talk on the phone, I would not recommend this one. With my old phone (Motorola V220), there was two speakers. One for when you hear people whilst talking to them, and another one for playing any sound/ringtones on the phone. This was great as each speaker was obviously designed for its own specific purpose. On the E720, however, there is only one speaker which serves the purpose of both playing sound AND being the speak you use to hear the person on the other end. ...I have been a mobile phone user since 1993 upgrading my phone each year my contract came up and always choosing to keep with Nokia as a reliable phone. However this year I wanted something different time for a change I thought so I went along to the local network shop and had a browse at the phones I choose 4 phones I wanted to have a look at in greater detail 2 Nokia, 1 Samsung and 1 Motorola. I was very impressed with the Samsung E720 so decided that I would give it ago and as yet have not been disappointed as it's a great handset. I left the shop and rushed home to get it on charge and start transferring all my 300 plus numbers across the new handset and this was so easy to do that it was all done within a few minutes, I then transferred all my details from one calendar to another and again was impressed as to how easy this was...

Samsung E720, Bane of my life!

Advantages: Looks cool. Sturdy and will withstand being dropped a couple of times
Disadvantages: Difficult to use and not reliable.

.... With my old Nokia this was never a problem. However with the E720 I am sometimes able to get to the correct web sites and then five min later I get an error message. After a little searching on the web I found out this error message meant the web site was incompatible with the phone. Which is strange because it was perfectly compatible five mins earlier. It really is hit and miss if the web sites will work. As I mentioned I travel a lot abroad and for this reason the triband facility was a must. However for me to get this to work took a relatively long time to sort out. I assumed that it would have an auto search function on it like my previous phone. If there is no signal on one band then the phone would try another and select the band that works. No such luck! To change from one band to another you have to search through an endless list...

This phone doesn't deserve an e

Advantages: doesn't accidentally send text messages, good screen resolution
Disadvantages: poor quality sound, too many key presses required for everything

...the camera is pretty straightforward, the same as with most phones. It has some nifty features, like a flash and the ability to add different effects to your photos. The resolution on this camera is fantastic. Pictures look great on the phone screen, and seem to maintain that quality when transferred to another phone. I didn't try uploading any to my computer or printing them so I can't tell you how they turn out. MP3 Player --------------- These seem to be almost as common as cameras on phones these days, so while it's a nice addition it's probably not the feature that will make you choose this phone. The cool thing about the MP3 player on the E720 is that you can use it while the phone's closed and it shows a little graphic equaliser type graphic. The downside is: the sound is tinny, and just not up to the standard of some of the Nokia...

...I love my E720 its sylish and full of technology. it has some unusual features such as your videos as a background. It was also the first flip phone to have external mp3 player controls. The games are a bit boring after a while but the internet is easy to use on the phone to download new java games. I also like to have a song or part of a song for my text message alert but this can't be done on the E720, Although the message alerts provided are quite good. You can use your mp3 songs as ringtones, this is a feature I love! All in all I am very pleased with my E720 and think I will be keeping it for a good while. ease of use was a bit difficult to get used to but then once you know what your doing its a doddle. look and feel i find it so sexy and stylish! durability well i have dropped it so many times and it still works fine...

Features: Camera: I am very impressed with the mega pixel camera and i noticed a huge improvement in the quality of my pictures from my previous phone. There are effects such as negative, gray scale, sepia and many more that can be used. The phone also has a flash so you can take pictures in the dark. Another funky feature is the frames that can be used to put around your photos. Pictures and videos can be taken from the front of the phone without even having to open it.
