POWERGEN A.K.A. E.ON - SO USELESS!!

Advantages: None whatsoever except , maybe, that you do get Tesco points
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING - THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL

...The point of this review is to make others REALLY aware of how badly our Utility Companies are mis-managed. If there was provision for minus 10 stars that is what they would receive from me. I really do wonder if I am another planet when I have to deal with some of them, in this case E.On! Firstly they put our Direct Debit up from £48 to £92 when the energy prices rose - I pointed out to them that I had done a VERY THOROUGH calculation based on our useage and worked it out to £62 - they took no notice ( I did not bother to change to another company as I think they are all the same - out to make a fast buck out of us, the poor customer!) Suffice it to say after some time and numerous emails and letters from me we had a surplus of £400 with them. This was beyond a joke, SO, I sent them an email with Court papers attached...

Review of Powergen

Customer service with a personal touch

Advantages: Good service, free electrisave meter, excellent website
Disadvantages: A bit pushy getting you to stay with them

...About 18 months ago I used to be with Npower, but switched over to Powergen (as it was then known) after USwitch showed that I could save a lot of money with them. The switchover was completely hassle free. I was signed up to the Online Dual Fuel tariff which meant I would manage my account online and wouldn't receive any paper bills. I needed to give meter reading during the switchover, which was very easy to do online. I then went for about 18 months with very good service. The website works beautifully all the time, allowing me to view my paper bills as PDF files, and enter meter readings whenever I liked. Even during the period in which Powergen became E.ON, everything on the website remanined the same. Gotta get one if you live near one!

Advantages: Extra vouchers, airmiles and points!
Disadvantages: Can take a while depending on your spending habits!

...up ours through the internet on there website, so we get airmiles with our but you can use them to pay for the cost of your shopping. Use them to buy things from tesco home stuff. You can also registered the card with energy providers such a E.On and you can earn extra points every time you pay your bill. With your statement you also get other vouchers for brand items in store and you can earn extra points buy showing your vouchers and card when you buy them. We are saving up our points till next christmas for a little weekend break!...

Traditional way to save money and new way to spend

...collect the green points. This helps the environment and also helps your pocket. If you want to have more points, do not miss any point offer from the quarterly club card statement. If you have the specific club card credit card, you can collect points every time you use the credit card not just in Tesco store. Tesco also has a number of partners, which allows you collect points when you use their service, like E.ON, TalkTalk, etc. It is good for everyone and this little does help. :)...

Energylinx cash back offer is a con

Advantages: Compare engine is reasonable, can get the current good deals
Disadvantages: Cash back offer never materialise

...Introduction: Energylinx is supposed to be one of those utility switch comparison website that offer to compare deals with various utility companies like British Gas, E.On, Scottish Power etc. You just put in your postcode and it should give you the latest and most accurate deals on offer by various utility companies and then give you a list to choose from. Of course, you have to provide more detailed information for the list to be relevant to you e.g. approximately how much gas and/or electricity you use in a year (you can estimate these from your utility bills), how you pay (quarterly, monthly direct debit etc) and what type of tariff (capped rate, fixed rate, variable rate, green - like mortgages). Tesco Finest Platinum Credit Card offers great deals

Advantages: YOU EARN USEFUL POINTS
Disadvantages: Quite high APR if you don't pay off the full amount monthly

...Have had this card for about 4 years now and have never had any problems - quite the contrary, in fact as I have earned large numbers of points with which I have bought items from their Store. The latest being an excellent microwave. I do pay off my card every month as I do not like paying interest charges and sometimes I have done this through my on-line Bank Account and sometimes on Tesco's on-line banking. ( this is quite often because I want to check what has gone through on my card). I have found their on-line system and security very good and easy to use. Great energy saver but use with care

Advantages: Simple device to help save the environment
Disadvantages: May not be right for some TVs

...The e-on TV PowerDown is a easy to use device that can reduce the amount of electricity used by your TV and other devices that go along beside it like a DVD and digibox. I found it quick to set up and easy to use. The PowerDown device looks like a slightly oversized 3 way mains adaptor with a sensor on a cable coming out of it and this is basically how I found that it is used. It has a socket for your TV power lead, another for a device that must be kept powered up 24/7 and a socket for peripherals. Once I had everything plugged in, including a 4 way strip for my my DVD and hifi equipment, training the device to respond to my TV remote was very simple. EARN SOME PENNIES

...I've only had a Tesco Clubcard for about a year now, and only ever really got the odd £1 voucher from them. To be fair I didn't shop much at Tesco, as my husband was adamant he hated the layout of the shop(?). Anyway Asda was closer and much the same price as Tesco, but without the Clubcard. Late last year I went to www.uswitch.com to change my gas and electric over and it come up saying e-on was the cheapest and as a bonus for taking them they were giving 1% for your calculated annual spend in gas and electric in clubcard points, so I got £9 worth, also for every £1 I spend with e-on they give me 1 clubcard point. I must add after me and hubby went down to spend the aforemetioned vouchers and he saw how cheap Tesco could be and offers on, we go a couple of times a month, thus earning us more clubcard points. What customer service?

...I was with powergen (now e-on) about 3 years ago. I'm pretty good at keeping an eye on finances and check things like bills and estimates. So when a bill came through suggesting that we triple the amount we pay for gas and electric each month I was understandable suspect! I phoned the customer support center but found they couldn't see a problem. They suggested I took a meter reading at the same time of day for a week and then call back. Even though I had a 2 month old baby and to be quite honest had better things to be doing I dutifully did as asked and then called back. They said the meter was working fine. We went through old bills at my request and they still couldn't see the problem. After 6 months and weekly phone calls one bright spark finally saw the problem! When they had changed the gas meter they had not changed...
